@@danielnason1955 do you have a different interpretation? I'm just curious.
Given the context I also have that interpretation.. not to make hypocritical judgments.
And the other scripture to "judge righteously". I interpret as we shouldn't judge to hurt/embarrass/etc. someone but "judge" to help them(and do it privately lol)
Sometimes people don't know they're sinning or doing something wrong without a loving friend that tells them.
That's how I am anyway. I was oblivious to some of my own shortcomings/issues without people telling me.. I'm glad people did tho!

@@Yo-0o0o0o0oI am on the whole literal with what is written and how it is written in the bible. Am familiar with Matthew 7:1 and the following verses and when someone says “it’s not a command not to judge it is actually a command on how to judge “ , this in opposition to what Jesus said. Then he tries to explain why he said that just didn’t cut it for me. But that’s my interpretation and I also am familiar with being incorrect so that is why I caution anyone when being told some new revelation to have discernment. May God bless us all.

This exact phrase no longer appears in the bible. There is a phenomenon called the Mandela Effect (which is a terrible name for it) which describes how things in reality are changing. I would not have believed it had I not seen and experienced it with my own eyes. The KJV Bible seems to be heavily affected. Nothing is as it seems.

How telling that if Christian soteriology is correct the most important factor that differentiates those deserving eternal paradise and those deserving eternal torment is the geographical location one is born into.
If one is born in Saudi Arabia there is about a 95% chance that you will belive in the "wrong" God and reject jesus and thus receive eternal damnation in a lake of fire. However be born into America and magically there is about a 95% chance that you will believe in the "right" God and thus receive eternal salvation. 👏👏
Allegedly this is the justice of a perfect omnibenevolent omnipotent omniscient loving God. The fact that many people who reject jesus often lead devout pious lives and follow very strict and demanding religious practices with regards to worship, diet, clothing and relationships is not a factor, these people seemingly reject jesus because they *"want to sin"* 🤔🤫 Some live lives of isolation and quiet contemplation taking vows of celibacy and silence but the loving jesus still deems these people unworthy of anything other than eternal torment.
Conversely however a murderer so long as he truly repents and accepts Jesus on his death bed he can spend an eternity in paradise with those he murdered. Unless of course those people also found the "evidence" for your God unconvincing, in which case the murderer would be looking down from paradise on the people he killed as they too suffered for eternity with me 😡

Just as the English word *love* has several meanings, so also do the words *judge & judgment* have. All too often when people say, "Who are you to judge me?" they usually mean, "Don't condemn me," or "Don't belittle me for this or that." Few actually understand or care to know what that word means. Most do not want to be held responsible for their words & actions or for who they are, and that's a condemnation aspect of the word.
Not only are we allowed to judge, we are commissioned to help others see the clear path of their acts and/or words have consequences, and also need to understand there are more than one meaning of that word.
    There are two main definitions:
    1. The word can mean to *evaluate* a situation, event, action, words, etc. It involves investigating whether something is true or false... thus we make a judgment call at the conclusion of collecting and discerning what is going on.
    2. The other aspect is to condemn. We are warned not to condemn someone for what they do since that involves placing value upon them as well as to what degree a penalty should be meted out upon them. That is for God to do and not us.

The only way I can describe it is when a huge fly keeps buzzing around your head that you can't hit with a fly swatter. I would much rather keep my focus on what you are preaching than to listen to a competing secondary sound. Other than that your teaching is spot on. Your examples about witnessing are very practical. You get to the point of how to "address the elephant in the room" when it comes to witnessing about Jesus. Thank you for your ministry.

Yep- exactly. I have had to explain this to some of my friends and family on several occasions when they accuse me of sounding “judgmental” when I give an analysis that is critical of a certain person (or group of people) who do sinful things. When they accuse me of “judging” I ask them “well, what is wrong with judging as long as the judgement aligns with God’s word?” Then they often try to turn it against me and say something like “Didn’t Jesus say not to judge others?” Then I answer “No, actually He didn’t say that- at least not how how think He did. What Jesus actually said was “Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.” (John 7:24). And then I explain- the better your relationship is with God and the more you conform your life to Christ then the better you will be able to discern right from wrong in every situation. That’s what Jesus truly wants- for us to judge correctly- not for the purpose of condemning others, but rather so that we can transform ourselves into holier people by basing our decisions on His example.

I've been able to keep rent covered by selling off my things and working as much as I can, it's just the utilities and good that is difficult.
Thank you all in advance and I'm sorry to bother everyone. I've never asked anyone online for prayers but I just really need them right now as I'm in trouble.

AMEN! I’ve been saying this for years. In Luke 6 where Jesus is saying “Judge not” he’s talking about the condemning, looking down your nose, type of judgment, not discernment. Besides that, judging isn’t always negative. When you say something good about someone or approve what they’re doing, that’s a judgment also. Hebrews 11:11 it says Sarah “judged” God faithful who had promised. So whenever we believe and act on a promise of God, we’re actually judging Him that He will do what He said He would do. Selah!

We are indwelt by the Holy Spirit immediately upon hearing and believing the gospel of grace. Therefore we have a power of discernment to know right and wrong. While believers still struggle with our sin nature, we do recognize sin as opposition to God. Not being a hypocrite is the key. Also, it should be made clear that while believers can point out the sin and sinful lifestyles of individuals or groups, only God makes the final and ultimate judgment at the great white throne.

With respect to judging others, the Scriptures are clear.
"Judge not, that ye be not judged." Matthew 7:1
"Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling block or an occasion to fall in his brother's way." Romans 14:13
"For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:" John 5:22
The Father has committed ALL judgment to the Son.
In Matthew 7:1-2, the word judge is used in the sense of condemnation, this is evident from the parallel record in Luke 6:37.
This shows, not only that those who judge others condemn themselves, as stated by Paul, but also that those who do not condemn others will not be condemned.
It is also equally important to understand that this is the judgment of the person, not the deed or the actions of the person.
If I have just witnessed someone commit an offense against the Law, then it is my duty to correct them and to show them the error of their ways. In doing this I do not judge the person, but only their actions or deeds. I do not judge them, for there is only one judge, and that is Christ.
This idea is not readily understood, nor accepted by mainstream Christendom, for many say that they have the right to judge others righteously, but in that, they are confused.

I also heard that phrase or used that verse many times among the woke and lgbtq advocates and ideologues. I'm not gonna fault them if they read the bible or that verse in a way that they just read a newspaper or other books without doing proper hermeneutics. Due to confirmation bias we tend to look and read the bible and interpret it based on what we want to and just dismiss its context, origin, historical setting and intended meaning.
I hope and pray that they will come to the true knowledge of God so that they may open their eyes and accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour so that they will break free from the bondage of sin and death.😊

Jesus also said that we will know others by their "fruits". That means we are supposed to be "fruit" inspectors, which requires us to judge. The thing is, before we judge someone, we need all of the facts, in order that we can rightly judge someone. If I see a pastor walking into a bar, and I go around saying that he's a drunk, that is a snap judgement and is to be condemned. You don't know why he's gone into a bar. He may very well need to use a phone, someone may have called him to come help them, etc. Know the facts first, before opening your mouth and spread false information.

I believe Jesus was actually saying, “Do not condemn! For when you do, you are using your own personal standard of judgment {that you can’t even live up to} instead of judging with righteous judgment.” When we use righteous judgment, we are discerning that there is an issue of ungodliness, and our recourse is to “turn a sinner {who has wandered from the truth} from the error of his way.” (Jas. 5:19-20)
    Finally:
“I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people; I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world. But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler-not even to eat with such a one. For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church? But those who are outside, God judges. REMOVE THE WICKED MAN FROM AMONG YOURSELVES.” (1 Cor. 5:9-13)
We have to make judgments. How else can we know when to come to the spiritual aid of a brother who has wanted from the faith?

I find it mildly annoying when someone says "don't judge me" when pointing out a bad behavior. I usually don't even think of it as a judgement per se, but more of just a way of trying to help someone by pointing out a bad behavior they would be better off correcting themselves. When I think of a judgement, I think of it as more along the lines as someone correcting/punishing someone else for a confirmed illegal behavior, à la what an actual judge does.

    1 Corinthians 11:28-32 NIV
Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. [29] For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. [30] That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. [31] But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment. [32] Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be finally condemned with the world.

To ad to that perfect delivery, I would also say, We were allowed to see the Truth, because we are seeking him But it's God's Truth, and we are just sharing His judgement.
Jesus is coming back in Judgement, 1st time was grace and the suffering servant, but when he comes back he will defeat Israel's enemies, and all who believe in him shall not perish, So repent, Because that's part of believing in him.
Salvation is a free gift of God, but a True believer will walk in the faith to the best of their ability, even though we are not perfect, we will pray and seek after his righteousness ❤ 🙏

I always tell people who say this, to finish the entire quote and then have to explain it to them. Jesus is telling us that we cannot help another person, while doing what they are doing because it is futile. We must first admit and repent of our own sins that we may begin to help another with theirs. You cannot help someone overcome something unless you yourself have already gone through the same thing. I actually had someone come back and say that is not what Jesus meant. They actually claimed that Jesus was telling them to remove an actual 'log,' from their eyes.

Jesus said: "Do not judge, or you too will be judged". What does it mean? Many people think that it means: "avoid judging". This is NOT what it means. This is a call for the RIGHT judgement. If you are capable of the RIGHT judgement, and you can apply that judgement to YOURSELF too, then you CAN judge, and you even SHOULD judge. Thus, for a person of high integrity, judging is natural. People who insist on "avoiding judging", often have a lot to hide. That means that they are very sinful, and want to avoid judgement and punishment.

    • @trumpbellend6717
      @trumpbellend6717 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

"Right and wrong" are words that are relative to the actualization of a desired goal or outcome, absent said goal, the terms right and wrong become meaningless.
My "goal" is the actualization of a healthy flourishing coperative society based upon our common desires with respect to wellbeing and the values it incorporates, empathy, respect, equality, altruism, reciprocity. That is why one "ought" to treat another's as you would like to be treated, One "ought not steal if you wish to live in a society were property is not stolen. One "OUGHT" not murder if they want to live in a society were people are not murdered. This is our "reference point" or standard.
One "should" or "ought" do something if Its conducive with the actualisation of a situation that conforms with one's goals and values. These "values" themselves are subjective by definition however it is entirely possible to make Objective declarations or decisions 'Within a pre-agreed framework of subjective values'.
*What is your "goal" and why 'OUGHT' one do what your subjective God desires* ?? 🙄🤔

Just a comment about the verse numbering.
Without the reference number we would have to become a lot more familiar with the Scripture.
In Luke 4 (that's a reference) Jesus has a scroll handed to Him and He opens it right where He needed to read from.
In Luke 20 (another reference) Jesus refers to the "Burning bush account".
We need to become familiar with the Scriptures, just as Jesus is.
That said, I obviously use references.

  • @gradyjohnson7853
    @gradyjohnson7853 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

In context it is referencing one who claims to be a fellow believer.not someone who is lost. It is one believer calling out another believer when they see behavior that is unworthy of the walk of a Christian. Sinfully behavior destroys your witness. And gives unbelievers a rock to throw and an excuse. So the rub is do you keep your mouth shut because they will get mad because they have been exposed or do you say something and still get mad because they have been exposed.
