Rafa was against all odds in the final. Playing against the best player on hard courts along with Nole, who came with confidence, having a 13-match win streak at majors and who had won the previous major; being two sets to love down and 2-3 0-40 in the third. Arguably the greatest comeback in tennis history.

@@thedieselweasel201 Well, Coria kind of just choked in that final. Although he couldn't physically maintain the same intensity, Medvedev kept hitting stunning shots...it was Rafa who stepped up his level. Also, the final you're referencing was in 2004.

The synonym for transcendence is Rafa. Just to be clear that transcendence is not in the category of superlatives. Transcendence is the dissolution of thought that attempts to describe. It is prior to and beyond every description.
Rafa is not superhuman. On the contrary, he is fully human - he fully embraces suffering, he fully breathes self-doubt, he fully respects each and every player, each and every human being across the planet, he fully respects every tennis 🎾 racquet if he's not smashed a single one, he fully loves Real Madrid, he fully respects Roger and Novak, he fully loves humanity.
Transcendence when lived is humility, humility, humility. Rafa!

Sure thing...but Nadal almost choked a two set lead vs Federer in the Wimbledon 2008 final and again vs Medvedev in the US open final. Nadal is the GOAT because he doesn't choke in most finals and in fact pulls off miracles like the 2022 AO final. He is one of only 2 men with 5+ Grand Slam titles (alongside Richard Sears in the 1880s) to not have a losing record in Grand Slam finals against ANYBODY if including "Pro Slams" finals of the pre-Open Era. Djokovic has losing records in Grand Slam finals against Rafa (4-5) and Wawrinka (0-2) while Federer has losing records against Rafa (3-6) and Del Potro (0-1). Rafa's 2017 French Open final win vs Wawrinka was huge to guarantee no losing record against Wawrinka in slam finals (1-1).
