      Guys you're forgetting the most important thing ,always ask about the "whys"
      Do any of us "want to procrastinate on things we don't even want to watch or do" no but because of the stress of college or work or school
      Or depression and anxiety in my case (& college ,too btw)
      It's not a choice it's a mechanism
      If it ever was a choice we simply would've chosen to ignore it and ....just....be....Productive
      Big respect for those who are coping with it and knows how to still make use of every day in their lives ,like Mad respect actually 💥✊💙

    Do not underestimate the time you spend "wasting" that goes towards being fulfilled.
    Staying healthy. Feeling positive emotions. Absorbing wonderful aesthetics. Exploring and discovering new things. Experiencing special moments. Exercising equality.

      Yes truly but spending just needless hours on your phone, scrolling, just reading twitter garbage, engaging in trivial internet celebrity media BS 24/7 only brings you temporary joy and puts you in this state of dependency that is hard to escape from. It's the sort of thing that some people don't understand because they've always had those rights.
      For others, it's supporting other people as they use their rights.
      For a few, it means seeking justice for wrongdoing, or freedom from false accusations.

    I think it's all relative, meaning, what is wasting time exactly? When your life only consists of things you do to benefit yourself or others, you'll likely burnout without noticing it. When you are so busy doing stuff that "matters", you start to crave the peaceful, resting days where you are doing nothing. And when you are doing nothing too much, you are craving to do something so that your life has a "meaning". To conclude: You need to find a balance between doing nothing (resting) and being productive. Having too much of one or the other is not healthy. Seeking balance in anything you do is a process, not a destination.

    • @AndrejT-f6g
      @AndrejT-f6g 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +37

      I think this goes hand in hand with what you want. For me, I want to learn coding, Japanese and workout, and research related to that. Thus, "wasting time" for me means, doing the exact opposite, or anything, that won't contribute to goal. I'm not going to be young forever, and I don't want my goals become accomplished "some day".
      If you want something, you have to sacrifice something
      Also, I have one friend of mine, who is pretty cool guy with nice personality and to be fun around. However, he spends most of his day behind computer, drinking energy drinks and being awake until early mornings. He is in his early 20', and he does this pretty much every day. This would be for me the definition of wasting time - being in your prime years, wasting time on something so fleeting as this.

      @pixelpuppy 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      I think the main idea is, if you're not happy, or not productive, then you're wasting time. Being at peace and doing nothing is not a waste of time unless you feel bad doing it. Likewise, if you're not enjoying your work, or you hate what you're doing, then it's a waste of time, even more so if it's not benefitting yourself, or the people you care about.

  • @Ellary_Rosewood
    @Ellary_Rosewood 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I've wasted so much time worrying about being productive. I've wasted so much time working jobs that fulfill someone else's dream. One of the best things you can do for yourself is Slow Down. You don't need to move a mile a minute. You don't need to race through life as though it's a checklist. Go outside for long walks, breathe in the fresh air, learn new hobbies and skills, make meaningful connections that aren't only online (nothing wrong with online connections too, balance is key), and know that you have the power to change your life. You have the ability to make choices, no matter how small, that could change the course of everything. Life is so short, and it only goes faster with each passing year. Worrying about being "productive" and continuing on this fast paced life will only make it go faster. One day, it will be your last day on this earth. Cherish it, be grateful for the things you have, and fill it with the things you love. Remember that time spent enjoying something isn't wasted. Build a meaningful life, Stop and notice the beauty in the little things that are everywhere around you. It's going to be okay. You got this. ❤️🌲🌸😊

    PSA to all of my fellow ADHD people who watched this and immediately felt ashamed to exist. IT IS OKAY to struggle with doom scrolling and ADHD paralysis. Obviously it's not ideal and if you can stop doom scrolling so much, that's awesome. It's a good thing to try to be better and spend your time in ways that will make you happier in the long run.
    HOWEVER, often this advice is presented like in this video: accusatory, judgmental, and shaming. There are good intentions behind this sentiment and maybe it helps some people and I'm glad if that's the case. But here's the thing. WE KNOW. You know as well as I do how much time is "wasted" by side quests and instant-gratification. We know that we could be doing something productive and meaningful. But we have to get past literal physiological differences in our brain structure in order to self-regulate. It is not easy to fight procrastination. It does not make you weak, lazy, or stupid to struggle with these things. It is not a moral failing. All human beings are gonna waste time. It's actually counterproductive to obsess over being productive every second of every day. Monitoring your behavior is draining. It is a very often-overlooked fact that people need breaks from self-regulation. And beating yourself up about having wasted time will only cause problems. This is a reminder to myself just as much as anyone else that we are trying and that is what matters. The best thing you can do (in my opinion) if you have wasted a lot of time is to accept that fact and move on. Maybe try to build some self-awareness about why you were doom scrolling (or whatever it is) and what you can change next time to work with your brain and not against it. Cut yourself some dang slack. And drink some water. ❤

    In my opinion, there isn't any big meaning about life. You just gotta live 70-80 years and pass away. Than someone is going to take your place and your name will be forgotten in a decade or two. So... Ask yourself "How can I find a meaning in this short life?" Do the things that you are passionate about and do the things that give you happiness. I believe if a person on his/her seventies can say that they lived a happy life and don't have many big regrets, that is a successful person. I am currently 28 and I am spending as much time with my wife and parents as possible when we are all around and healthy. That is what gives me the most happines and I couldn't count it as a waste of time even if we are sitting together and do nothing in the meantime.

      Some advice from a random Internet stranger (take it or leave it): I recommend you take out some time to research (with an open mind) religions and atheism and conclude what is the truth. If atheism is the truth, what you have said is potentially viable. If a religion is true, success is in following that religion. If God exists, he would make it apparent to a truth seeker. So seek the truth to see if he exists. Because if he does, this lifestyle you have mentioned is untenable and could lead to failure in the afterlife.
      It won't take you much time and the worst outcome you'll have is probably increased knowledge and better perspective of people and culture.

      Nature created us all to have rest at the end of the day, during the night
      And a good sleep is also very important for young children as they grow up during the sleep
      The body also fights any kind of illness during the sleep and even build muscles (if you workout)

      For me, it's whatever I enjoy. If I'm doing stuff just to pass the time because I have nothing else to do, that's wasting time. I recently stopped playing video games not because they are a "waste of time" by themselves, but because I was only playing them to pass the time and not enjoying it. If you are having an amazing time playing video games, keep doing it! If you are having fun getting stuff done, working on personal projects, etc, it's not a waste of time!
      Of course there are boring things you have to do as well, working out, eating healthy, etc- but I also just try to find ways to make those fun! TLDR: Wasted time is when your doing activities you don't enjoy, not wasting time is when your doing stuff and having fun.

      That is the point of the beginning of the video. YOU know what activities waste YOUR time. It's different for everyone. For myself, I waste time playing games all day when I should be studying to get a good job. With said job I can afford countless things that are even more satisfying than gaming, as well as finally getting rid of the inner feeling of shame at not doing anything meaningful with my time. I could even afford a much nicer gaming setup, and play games better than I do now. Wasting time is like wasting money, if you spent $1 everyday on $1 SlimJims, then you will only ever experience the flavor of a SlimJim. Had you saved that $1 a day for a hundred days, you could treat yourself to a $100 prime steak, which is a far more satisfying and memorable experience.

    It's just insane how there's almost no unique human experience, the way you feel fundamentally about anything or the way your experience is going has been gone through the exact same way by bilions of humans that existed before you and will exist after you, everything in this video is just me, exactly, felt like was talking to myself just in another person's body, and thank you for making this, I'll put this message to good use.

  • @enocan612
    @enocan612 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    this video being almost only 3 minutes made me watch it fully becasue my bad attention span. Sadly though, I am very very lazy to change how my life goes right now so I just try to fill the empty time I have with vids, games and corn and hope whenever I need to make a important decision in my life, I hope I can just find a fast quick solution for it and continue consuming more uselees content to not think about my future and worry myself. For example; I got final exams almost in a month and I never studied for them and all of my subjects sucks. I don't only still don't study for them but tell myself that I will wait a year and study in that time but I know that's just a excuse to myself to have more time to waste so I can say to myself "I will do that anyways, I can just continue doing whatever I do right now and don't go into stress while trying to achieve something" but I know when the time comes to "study" or do something important, I will find another excuse.

      I'm glad to hear you're content with your life, however something I've learnt is that attaching labels to yourself is seldom a good idea, because they aren't representative of yourself, but rather of others. If you are of genuine faith in nihilism, then that's great. But chances are you may at some point encounter dissonance between your ideals and that of your label. I hope that goes well for you, it has been difficult for me.

    If playing games and watching movies has satisfaction of 10/10 but does not help you grow, it is counted as wasting time.
    Doing less satisfying activities but it helps you grow is not wasting time.

    • @Sunnyellow

      it depends, sometimes the endorphins released from 10/10 fun can help you progress. A happier you is a more productive you (sorry if that sounds corny 🙈). There’ll be less psychological barriers if your brain is happy 🤷 (but I agree with this video 100%. I mean, you can learn from bad films and uninspired video games… but if you’re not learning, and not having fun either then it’s a waste of time that’ll only keep you unhappy unless you snap out of it)
