I remember seeing this and hating this song so much. Don't get me wrong I love Run DMC but during this time they tried to change their style to New Jack Swing (Super Fail) and to see Run and DMC dancing and then Jay Rappin...Not Good!
+Peter Dawson I see your point, bro'. They were trying to adjust to the "New Jack Swing" and added dancers too. But, life is about adjustments and some of the same things were said about Miles Davis when he started doing pop songs like "Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper. Miles thinking was music is universal and you can incorporate modern sounds without a problem. I happened to like "Pause" even though your point is clear.
+Eugene McGirt I understand your point and when it comes to "Pause" I would say it was my least favorite RUN DMC song, usually If I don't like a song the video will make me like it but I still can't help that when this song came out it felt like they were trying to keep up and sometimes you have to let things go and be true to yourself and your fans.
+Peter Dawson Yes, and sometimes you lose who you are by trying to adjust to the Joneses. Keep in mind though, Run DMC had already dabbled with change by combining with Aerosmith on 'Walk This Way', which was groundbreaking in combining rap with rock. So, they were certainly not against trying new things.
Interesting. First off, Run, DMC and JMJ all perform live, but they're doing it over a recorded vesrion of "Pause" Just like in the old days, that. Grrat song though, and its too bad the message it carried didn't go further.
I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY SWITCHED THEIR STYLES TO NEW JACK SWING. THAT'S NOT THEM. THEIR CAREER WENT DOWN AFTER THIS. THEY WAS DISSING MC HAMMER BUT WAS DOING THE RUNNING MAN THE DANCE HAMMER CREATED LOL.
TRAVIS WRIGHT...I understand what you are saying but I don't think it went down hill after this...the industry was just changing....and HAMMER absolutely did not create the running man...No Nope No sir
That Knicks jacket DMC had on is dope
Super 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Too bad the team isn’t
Why I never seen this before? Jay had the best part in this video. I’ve never seen him step down to the mic. This was good. R.I.P. Jay
I think they would have brought down the Apollo if they turned around and performed, the Ave
The performance was absolutely insane (Sinbad should have been the permanent host for Showtime at the Apollo)
Rest In Peace Jam Master Jay
Great performance by Run DMC... winter of 1989... probably December.
I think it was more the fall of '89. Late October, early November
1:56 I see you DMC
The real running man.
Miss the 90's
Jay killed that shit lol
Is that JoJo and Russ dancing in da background?
lol
No they were too young Spoonie G
Classic 🔥
Pause.... Sinbad had hair... Jam M aster Jay was 1 of the few DJ'S that rapped.
Lets see Young Money rock the Apollo like that! The only way they'd get that reaction is when Sandman shoos them off stage LMAO!!

+Eugene McGirt True I love the Aerosmith because I love the RockBox off the first Album.
Peter Dawson then they tried to go the "gangsta" route with the bald heads and army suits
I miss this rap. Rap music nowadays sucks and belongs on the pop charts.
I thought it came out in the late '90s
rip jason mizell

Classic shit 1990
Is Onyx the dancers?
james jefferson the amazing dancers demonstrating the “PAUSE” dance are Chris “Shaik” Mathis & Derrick “Dee Rock” Samuels.
Stanley Brown was great on the keyboard, though

The New Jack Swing sound was NOT a good look for them. "PAUSE" indeed.
