Totally relate to the anxieties of speaking a new language and not wanting to feel dumb! I had the exact same feelings when I lived in Spain. But congrats on the new house! From the clips in this video it looks amazing!

I get it! Buying a house is the worst, moving is the worst, so saying that I can’t imagine moving & buying a house in an area where you don’t speak the first language fluently. I went to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, passed through Belgium and then to the Netherlands about 13 years ago and I only spoke a tad bit of German, the guy I was dating lived in Germany and was fluent in so many other languages that I quite literally refused to go anywhere without him because I only speak English natively. So I totally get where you’re coming from! I’m glad you found that light at the end of the tunnel though.

“It feels like summer didn’t even happen. I haven’t been able to get my feet under me for so long” I relate to that so hard. I am dealing with a moving as well and it is so anxiety inducing. I just want it to be over with. I want the stress to be over with. I feel you with this video. I appreciate your honesty. I know that’s hard. Love the video!

In Germany the Market is crazy too. You can't buy a decent house under 400.000€. Easy up to 800.000€ for a normal sized one. at least in the "good" areas.

Hey i just wanted to say, i'm french and personally everytime an english speaker has taken the time to try to speak french, even if they didn't get it right or something, i was just super touched that they tried, and i didn't find them stupid at all, and i don't think i'm the only one feeling that way. I don't know if it helps but i'm sure people are pleased that you're trying and they don't mind repeating themselves if you didn't understand them 💙 bon courage!

I know that you don’t like the chalk board area, but maybe a compromise with leaving maybe a small area for your boyfriend. I think a small area is cool, maybe frame it and make it a statement piece, surrounding it with other accessories or whatever you want. I do think it’s a huge piece by taking all that wall space. Just a suggestion here.
I am looking forward to the home tour video in the future. And I am enjoying this video collection in how you make this house your home. TFS!

I was in a similar situation a couple years ago, moving from Qc to another province. I totally understand what you are saying and I can relate to your situation. I’m very happy you guys got the house and can settle in!
I also experienced a lot of language/linguistics anxiety, especially when having conversations. Don’t be afraid to ask people to repeat themselves; if they see you’re trying to speak French, they’ll be accommodating.
What helped me a lot was watching TV/Netflix and practicing with people I was comfortable with. You’ll get a feel of expressions and what is more “natural”. I hope you find what helps you with learning and practicing! And good luck with your classes as well!

Congrats to you and your boyfriend on the big move!! So happy for you and I totally understand what you’re going through as me and my family have just recently moved from Hawaii to Puerto Rico. The language barrier is real and a bit scary. Not to mention the cultural shock. But we’re hanging in there and teaching ourselves how to speak Spanish. So you are so not alone there. Cheering for you and for me too. We can do this!!!

I can relate to the stress you’re having girl. We are moving at the end of this month from just outside Toronto to Moncton NB. It’s a lot. I met you years ago at the Zenith signing at Yorkdale. Not sure if you remember, I told you I was from A’burg just outside Windsor, we chatted for a bit. Don’t worry about what people on here or social media think. You know your own life, nobody else does. I’m thrilled you’re finally happy, and can’t wait to see the new home tour. Love your aesthetic! I’m currently in the thick of packing and and dreading the 16+ hour drive we have ahead of us soon, but in the end it will be worth it. Thanks for the great videos as always ❤️

I totally get you! We have not yet bought a house, but I grew up in the same house in the same city my whole life. Then I moved to a different country for a year where I also didn't speak the language. It was such a struggle and only when you are alone in your room do you feel somewhat at home. Since then I have moved to a different state than where I came from and even just that has been a lot. Good luck with the rest of the unpacking!

House looks super cute ❤️ p.s I always end up doing most of the BOX unpacking to, it's just easier for me to do and we tend to put things where they will go, it's also easier for me to take a day or 2 off to organize our life if we need to... But my husband does all the crap stuff, shelves, carrying alot of the boxes for me, setting up appliances (here we move with our washing machines etc. And it's Never Plug and play) he also then helps in the evenings so we get it 😉❤️ take it easy xx you have ALOT going on this year

I'm glad that you will be able to settle and feel more comfortable in your new house and that things worked out with the house. I totally understand what you were talking about because my family and I are kind of going through the same thing. We feel stuck/trapped in an apartment that we want out of, not only to get away from a horrible landlord but duplex neighbors (and Airbnb tenants) that are causing major issues. And I don't mind if the moving vlogs are uploaded to this channel. I would watch them anyway.

I fully understand moving, I was in a smaller town that is now a growing little city to a dorm when I first started college. It was because college was 2 hours away and trying to figure out what to get and move with just my mom dad,me,and his tow trailer in bins was interesting. It got easier but now my boyfriend and I had the worst time here finding a 1 bedroom apartment for a decent price because everyone is wanting one but a bunch of 2-3 bedroom ones are available. Websites would say one thing but when you call it’s a different story, and then when we got this place we got shown one place but then while getting papers in order due to a lot of things they got rid of it and we had to stay at my parents for a month before moving into another they had(we didn’t get shown it was more do it want it or not). Now with possibly moving again here soon(possible grad school!) that it’s like will we have help or have to hire a moving truck. I’m full time school so he is the only one who works right now.

Congrats on the move! I don't know if this will help but, people in Montreal usually know both French and English and most people are glad that you show that you're making an effort to learn French :) so never hesitate to ask them to repeat or to speak more slowly. Also... mtl is known for having really bad constructions and traffic so I hope that you'll be able avoid both of those as much as possible x.x Courage et ne lâche pas!

I was kind of in the same situation as I lived in the same city for all of my life and moved in with my boyfriend and was only 10mins away from my parents and never lived anywhere else. Three years ago my boyfriend got a new job in another state and so we packed up the house and moved about 8hrs away. This was my first move, (his 5th-so he was use to it). And I totally hear you on packing up a whole house--its painful. Ours was a government move so we had packers & movers and that just made it worse because we had already left the house to start our new jobs. When our things finally arrived at our new house we couldn't find anything!! The packers were horrible. They would pack kitchen items in other boxes. or they would put breakables in the bottom of a box with heavy items on top. We filled a huge trailer of all our stuff. I think we had somewhere in the neighborhood of 325+ boxes with a good 75 of them of books. Me and my boyfriend are big readers. 3 years later we have just a handful of boxes left to unpack but those may just end up in the trash since we haven't touch them for that long and haven't missed them. Hang in there things will get better. The hardest part is unpacking and getting settled. It's just going to take time and give yourself a break and just breathe, you got this!! enjoy that tub--I'm so jealous!! :)

I bought my place at the end of 2020, and it was so traumatizing for me that I wasn’t even that excited once I closed. The ups and downs of getting documents in, and the way things change so fast made me feel like even after I closed, something would go wrong. 😵‍💫 it gets better though! I just assumed that your boyfriend was at work and you were working on it during the day and he helped when he got home. he is not in your videos so you would film when he is not there. and as for your move Quebec, it is like moving to another country, not just another province. just take your time and be kind to yourself you have been through a lot in the last year with this move and It all does not need to be figured out right away. I don't think you owe your viewers anything because it is your life and at a point where you are going through big life changes. I also hope that the non-Canadian viewers realize how different Quebec is from the rest of the country because it really is. I am here for anything you put out

How did it go with ordering your coffee? I would just go up to the window and point to a picture of what I want. Lol ☕

Congratulations on everything that happened and in your dream house! But girl! You poor thing! I was raised in Québec and been all over Canada and Québec French is the WORSE French to learn from. Québec French is like the French version of Newfoundland for English speakers in Canada. But you'll get there! I so so so wish I could help you cause I can't imagine the struggle and I want the best for you.

People just need to mind their own business.
I moved to an Apartment in mid-march. It was sooo stressful finding a place to live. I would've taken anything. Now I am just hoping that a year doesn't fly by because I got to do it all over again.
But for now I am going to enjoy this holiday season.

We’ve always had one, but at my parents house they have 4 and I’ve shown them so that might be why you think that!

! I understand yoour feelings about changing from a town you know to a bigger city. I always tell myself I wouldn't be able to move to Bordeaux. Beautiful city but also crazy as it is too big.

Congrats on the house! Well wishes to you and your boyfriend. I love following your progress because I’m considering moving to another state in the US because my boyfriend and I are long distance and I want to be closer to him.
