My husband teases me about my yarn collection. He clearly has no idea how bad it could be. Thankfully this amount of yarn would actually be my worst, most overwhelming nightmare. I have no idea how you can handle all that, honestly.

Yes, I agree. Or find a local prison who teaches knitting and crochet; those programs and what they do for inmates is amazing. Along with the people who teach those classes. You may want to consider WHY you have so much yarn, because methinks, it's not just about the crocheting.

This is by far the most interesting crochet video I’ve ever seen! I LOVE seeing all your WIPs, stacks of grannies, half-finished blankets, etc. Your colors and combinations of colors are all so beautiful and inspiring!
(… also, it’s wonderful to know that I’m not alone in having so many unfinished projects! 😆)
Anyway, thank you, Ginger. Please keep showing us your crochet WIPs and the progress you make. It’s so much fun!! ❤❤❤

I've been crocheting for over 50 years now, and I, in no way have as much yarn as you, lol! I make pet blankets out of my scraps(they work up fast, and animals don't care what colors go with what, lol). We have plenty for our own cats. They're very welcome at cat and dog foster homes. Some vets like them, and so do pet rescue organizations. I've got far too many afghans to make them for myself, or my family anymore. I've made queen sized bedspreads out of crochet cotton, curtains, etc.(tedious, but beautiful). Enough crap about me. Anyway, I've enjoyed this video, and you have a new sub!

I see a lot of comments saying you should donate, and while it's a worthy thing to do, have you ever thought about selling any finished items? You make gorgeous things, and it would be a way to earn back some of the money you spent on the stash! I could definitely see a successful shop in the future if you have the energy and the will to sell items
😊Anyway, just popped in to say that I love what you do!

    • @kimbo500
      @kimbo500 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

Great idea! When I learned how to crochet, I gifted 1 baby blanket to a family member, and have donated every item I've made since then (2015) to hospitals or missions. I have graciously accepted almost all of my yarn from those who have stopped their crafting, but wanted to donate to the same. It's a win-win for me, and also for the individual who chose to donate the yarn. I also ask if they would like a photo of the items prior to going to the recipients. The smiles I see, warms my heart. They feel so good that their yarn turned into these creations being donated. Thanks for leaving your suggestion!! 💕

That was last spring and had them ready for the Christmas Season. It started with Autumn colors and handed those out right before the Thanksgiving Season and continued throughout the Fall making all kinds of colored for men and some colors for ladies, and some matching beanies and scarfs. I must share that people were SO GRATEFUL since the winter was so brutal this winter. 🥶🥶🥶 THAT has made me feel so good 🙂

I recently come across a pattern making large baskets using 7 stands of mixed weight yarns but all from the same color family. The finished item has a tweedy look.
You could try something similar, make several in a variety of colors to collect and sort your yarn scraps. They would be pretty and practical in your yarn studio. I think you would be able to hang them on the wall even with a sturdy hook. When a basket gets full you will have collected enough to start a new project.

I bought a bunch of novelty yarn years ago for $1 per skein when it was popular and my church group was selling and donating scarves. From time to time, I go thru my yarn and donate. I’ve donated to women’s prisons, and Goodwill of course. I used to never make items for myself. Now I do, and I also use yarn I no longer love to make hats for the homeless. (I’ve made hundreds). There are ways to destash. Someone is really going to appreciate the yarn you donate 👍🏽.

That Red Heart Granny Square yarn was infuriating! I got it to work out, but crocheted each round and either changed hook size or adjusted tension to have it work out correctly for that round. It is so nice because there are so many fewer ends to work in. But one skein was enough and I gave the finished squares to a friend who was also using that yarn. I’m assuming that in 2 years, this yarn will disappear.

Hi! You inspired me to get busy reorganizing and using up my yarn. I have a bunch too. I LOVE your double border! Im going to have to try something like that sometime. Would you consider doing a tutorial? I've never seen anyone do one. The sweaters are all so nice. You have been busy! Congratulations on the soon to be grandbaby. Have a great week.

A few years ago I made a blanket with my scrap yarn. Basket weave. Always holding 2 different colors together. The colors never ran out at the same time. It was so colorful. Which I usually don’t like that but I did love it so much. It was kind of heavy. My friend’s mom loved it. She’s in her 80s always cold.

It is lemon peel stitch, yes. One of my favorite blankets I've made is a large afghan made with Caron simply soft tweed, in three colors, in lemon peel stitch. Thick color stripes. The lemon peel texture plus the incredible drape and softness of the simply soft is wonderful!!
Journey Chanel has had some great designs lately.
I just bought a couple more of them for my birthday this month.

I like the big version of the red heart granny sq yarn. I might need to try that for sweater panels. It's got a really cool post-modern vibe.

I have been in yarn shops that have less yarn than you and are also way less organised. That colour organisation is so gorgeous!
