I have a camp that people tell me all the time I should submit to best builds. It's not done. It's close, in my opinion, but I'm missing old score rewards and atom shop items that I missed in the 5 years I wasn't playing. I am otherwise very proud of my camp, and I'm happy to receive compliments on it and I love it when people show up for the vendor and start wandering around on self-guided tours, but I'm not done with it. I would very much rather not have someone else decide for me 'this is fine' and submit it on my behalf before I'm finished.
100% I saw a really good scrappy camp maybe a year ago, and the shelter was even better, I wish I could award the creator. I'd have paid in game caps to give them a medal they could display, it was that good. All I usually see is floating platforms, or shit thrown all over the golf course
Most of the best builds I have visited are complete trash. We shouldn't be able to nominate our own builds. I would never nominate mine, it's a hot mess. Also, I have come across amazing builds vendor hopping and wish I could have nominated them. I think the need to scrap the whole idea and start over.
I disagree. Players should be able to nominate themselves. I haven't nominated my camp, and I have no desire for anyone else to do so. Nominated builds have their vendor disabled.
Just one thing i want improved: The "real camp" should be likable, too. When I'm online it happens 1-3 times that ppl give me the "Nice camp" emote. So why not give us a "bb button" for every camp thats online and submitted?
They should tweak the entire system where it's a "live" thing that works with Active Player camps and just clear all of the current fake feedback. I'd rather 'like' someone's camp that I'm actually visiting organically instead of being prodded to like a random camp.
I made 3 camps for best builds and spent HOURS on all of them and adding all of the details and only one of my camps has 7 likes and all of those likes came when bethesda launched best builds. People emote and explore my camps when im in game but they cant like it because my camp only shows up in random worlds. The system sucks and i dont even care to explore other camps because it costs caps for some reason.
Now I am not defending them for this but, I think and I could be totally off my rocker here. There may be a small idea they had that this would stop you use free travel to best camps as only free fast travel point and not bother to like the camp and move on, but I could be totally wrong. IMHO the travel system fast really really needs updating, why not allow free travel to anywhere on the map, provided you have discovered the location however, if you are overencumbered they sting you for travel with caps as they do currently or even increase the travel cost
@@dp10656 I understand that MMOs need ways for caps to leave the market since caps are always being added. But the way public teams works, we already can fast travel around for free anywhere if someone has a camp there. There are only ever 3 best builds on a server at a time, and it’s for hours. I don’t think it could be abused like people think
Same here. Three camps submitted, all in the Mire. The one that's closest to the train station everyone hits after Moonshine Jamboree has 6 likes. The next closest in proximity has 2. The one that's waaaay up by Abbie's Bunker and has "Secluded" in the tags...0 likes.
Yeah I stopped caring about BB when my enclave camp in the ash heap that I’ve been meticulously improving over the course of 4 years only has 2 likes while some dude who vomited his workbenches and atomic shop barf all over whitesprings has hundreds of likes. For reference, I get the “good camp” emote like 1-3 times a play session, with constant notifications of people entering my shelters to explore my build more. So people definitely recognize the time I put into it, constantly refining and improving it. But the algorithm has chosen some dudes module on a rock over mine. If Bethesda put as much care into BB as their building community did into their game, we wouldn’t have this issue. I agree with everything you said, and I would add that we shouldn’t be able to nominate ourselves. Nominations should be people giving the “good camp” emote within your camp’s territory. Reach say, 10 nominations, and you your camp enters circulation. It would weed out all of the low effort crap, and it would actually mean something if your camp was a “best build”.
Same here I get multiple messages about my camp it took me 6 years to perfect yet I have 14 likes meanwhile I've seen a box with some workbenchs with 1465 likes
Let’s just face facts as well.. likes are for conveniently placed camps, close enough to complete your daily. No one is paying caps to do this for the proper reasons.
My camp is close to most other camps in a very uncommon spot just above ash heap and I have 14 likes I've seen one not to far from me with 1465 likes and it was a box I honestly just think alot of camps aren't showing up in other servers since they limit how many are on a server the most I've seen on one server is 4
It's been a few weeks since I submitted my camp (spent about 100h on it) and still 0 likes, not sayint it deserves some, but it's kinda suspicious, it's almost like no one has seen it ^^
The problem is that most people only go to other's camps to check the vendors The best build system turns the vendor off, therefore there's no compelling reason to visit a best build, other to complete a daily.
Same! Mine isn’t perfect by any means but it’s def a cool Blue Ridge outpost! It has 1 like. I visit other best builds that are literally an empty square and it has 20+ likes?! Like no way…
@@theanthem0ftheangels the trick is to not care. Think about it. There's absolutely no criteria regarding what constitutes a "best build." Because of that, there's no scoring system and no means of creating fairness. You're being judged by people you don't know, who have wildly varied tastes in aesthetics, and you're going up against people who might have lots of friends they can get to vote for their camp, or who happened to have their camp online when one of the Daily challenges was "like a best build." It's an absolute mess of a game mechanic, so I wouldn't worry about it.
I stand by my opinion, it should’ve been a separate menu that would let you browse submitted camps and filter them by themes, regions, Building types, Etc. immediately fixes every issue with them being in the world, and fixes the entire like system. It would also be a great way to be able to gather inspiration for a camp you’d like to build by browsing camps in that theme or region.
I'm glad someone is talking about this. The first time I visited a Best Build just outside of Whitespring station that had roughly thirty "Likes", and was just a number of shelter entrances that all led to shelters where a player basically spawned in a locked box, I knew something was fishy. Honestly, as people have said here, you should just be able to "Like" any CAMP you see, rather than letting anyone submit anything. Also, if the CAMP gets Best Build status, I'd love there to be more depth than just a "Like" for it. Like, I want to give Feedback on if a build is "Complex", or "Funny", or "Welcoming", or "Fits The Area".
This video perfectly sums up the issues. Just a Like system for Camps would have been fine. Sure, someone who has lots of friends or an audience could get more likes than someone who doesn't. But so what? At least it would very likely be a more accurate reflection of what actual good camps are, because those people with an audience will have spent time (and money!) on their Camps.
Yeah that's exactly what I thought when I heard about this. I've visited some really amazing camps and I wished I could give them some kudos. Then they could just tally up who were in the top 10 most liked camps for the week and have them show up on the servers
yeah the like a best build challenges HAVE to be removed. that alone completely ruined any amount of excitement I had about it. like, this isnt the organic community thing they painted it to be. its another random nonsensical task they can tell you to every day for season rewards.
Also i changed my opinion in the free fast travel. When you said "theres no difference between visiting a best build or visiting a regular camp" it put it into perspective for me.
I will say that if I can tell by the screenshots that it's something special worth seeing in person, I don't mind paying the caps tbh. Not saying it shouldn't be free, but I definitely use the preview pics if they have them before paying to travel there.
Yeah, some people were saying that people could "abuse" it to fast travel around the map for free. But you can already do that with public teams so I'm not really sure about that
Why can't we just like anyone's build? If i go to a camp and i like it, why can't give it a like? Anyway, agree with all your points. I don't even visit best builds unless i have too.
Biggest mistake was setting 'Like a best build' as daily and weekly challenges - people liked the first best build they came across to complete the challenges. The day of the challenge I saw a build that was just a platform with some workbenches on it and it had 42 likes whereas some other builds that had real effort put in had 1 or 2. If there are best builds where players have put an effort in I will like it, I don't need a challenge to like it.
meanwhile at the bethesda hq: "ok guys, we've been doing moderately good the last few weeks, what can we add to get everyone upset again? come on, give me your worst!!"
Thank you for the informative video. I didn't know about destroyed items being auto-repaired for best build submissions. After watching your video, I had to do some tweaks and adjustments to my camps with destroyed items.
Yeah I agree with what you're saying in this video. For me I've only been going to best builds when I have to for a daily. My criteria is as follows, a friends camp when available or whichever one is closest because I feel its a waste of caps otherwise. I'm still finding building annoying but have started using some of the things from your videos. (Flamethrower trap, the incorrectly named drop merging and the trick with the thrasher egg) But I'm just not as creative as you when it comes to builds. I can't, at this point, see me ever submitting a best build. That might change down the road if I ever get my head round using the building sets to get the structures I actually want. I'm really struggling with that. Your content is a big help and I'm glad you've brought this up for the community to talk about. Thank you for another good video.
I’ve been hearing a lot of people complain about best builds, you’re one of the few I’ve seen who have actual criticisms… and constructive criticism at that. I knew it’s a long shot but I hope some sees this and takes your points to heart.
They should be likable by people who actually see it while it's owner is online, not these weird ghost camps. I've gotten triple the amount of "nice camp" emotes than likes and it's nice to actually get to see people explore it.
One day there was a "like a best build" daily and the server I was on only had a single best build showing up so I went to it and it was garbage. It was just a 3x4 greenhouse floor and walls with a handful of crops and resource collectors that were all locked. But it had 22 likes because it was the only one available at the time and they just wanted to do the daily. I hopped servers to find a best build that was actually worth a like
Now, I don’t think that I have the best camp ever, I’ve seen what some people are capable of in this game, and I stand in awe of their skills, but my camp is pretty good, it’s immersive, it looks like it fits in the world around it, it’s cluttered, the budget is maxed, things are placed in a way that makes sense, I’ve made use of multiple merges, in short, it’s a good looking camp, I’ve got 2 thumbs up, and the amount of garbage, floating camps I’ve seen with dozens of thumbs up is ridiculous, there needs to be some form of quality control. Edit, I’ve server hopped for close to an hour, looking for a decent camp to like, I refuse to give some of this garbage a thumbs up. The dinosaur camp is awesome btw. 👍
Itd be really nice if you could just like builds of any camp you go to in your world if its been submitted, even if its a normal camp and not one of the 3 best builds
So you're talking out of our asses and you're completely nak? 🤔 🌭 Good vid, man. I hope it reaches it's intended audience. Even if just one person on the team sees it, maybe they'll listen. I'm hopeful, they maintain their interest in making Best Builds something we enjoy instead of just one more poorly executed idea.
Well, that clears a few things up! Thanks for this video. Completely agree with all you said. I was thinking, instead of down voting, why not give 1-4 stars for example or register when people leave without voting( visible or not)
thank you again mister church for properly directing my anger despite not playing the game for months. i am not even paying for 1st anymore and i still feel scammed to learn how best builds work lmao
Builds should be able to receive likes on the server you are in. You should be able to get a thumbs up indicator as you are playing similar to when you sell an item. Could it even be as easy to make a like as using the “nice camp”emote while in a camp?
The current way limits the best builds to 3 per instance. Naturally the more players that use the best build feature, the less opportunities for a build to be displayed. There may be mitigating factors, but seems odd to limit your interaction based on some sort of ever increasing or random rotation. For instance, my likes stopped after the first 2 weeks , but I continue to get “nice camp” interactions in person which makes me feel alive and whole unlike in real life. (shot out to mr church)
@@PrettyTigerlilly hear yah unfortunately there is no way to mitigate being a popular or social person and why should that matter anyway? - in my view it only helps the game. Keep in mind this isn’t a vote (maybe it shouldn’t be titled Best Builds) .. it’s purely social and there is no prize but a sweet dopamine hit. Just think there are better ways of making sure feedback is simple and more active.
All valid points Mister Church. I’ve seen spectacular builds w/little to no likes, and a tiny, wooden, single foundation-half box w/only a dirty bed in it w/several likes. (Now…for some reason, I don’t know why…I needs me a cookie🍪)
100% agree with every word, especially when it comes to private servers. Thanks for making this video, lets hope the power that be take note. ps I hope you had a great birthday.
I got 7 likes so far on my CAMP, I dunno if that is even good or bad though, like how the eff do we know? There is no ranking system... I think that is not much, as your Grafton General is ten times as cool as my CAMP, but has no likes... that does not even make sense!
There's going to be so many submissions now it'll take a while to cycle through then you gotta hope there's a daily challenge going on when yours shows up.
Not to mention, “liking” camps is now a daily, or weekly challenge. So how do you know the “likes” are authentic, or if people are just “liking “the camp to get their challenges completed. For example I’ve “liked” a number of camps I didn’t like just to complete the challenge.
The whole system needs a lot of work. There should be categories to further divide up submissions based on what's being put on display (ex. a camp with extensive merges and other advanced techniques, "vanilla" builds, etc. Additionally all those themes they keep putting out contests for could become tick boxes when submitting so when they want to do a say Halloween focused spotlight they could set the game to only show camps with the halloween themed ticks which would let them drill down into the vast amount of submissions and also feed into the overall "feel" of servers over time. They should also incorporate the ability for people to like your actual camp as well. Visiting best builds should be free and all the resource collectors should be set to auto unlocked and function like regular containers for looting as an incentive for people to seek these builds out. As for having best builds show up on a private server, that should be a toggle that is off by default. Additionally if you log into a server and there happens to be a best build in your spot, it should de rez the best build camp to allow your camp to be placed seeing as you're actually there to play on that server. They could also make use of the best builds feature to pull from when doing spotlights in the news articles they sometimes write up but they will need to do a lot of refining of the system before you would be likely to see.
Interesting rant This is a thoughtful rant, Mr. Church. To it, I'd add: (1) I wish they'd simply explain "the algorithm." Is there a queue? What resets your place in it? Even if they won't release the specific numbers (like how often your camp has appeared, and how often it's been viewed), it would be a comfort to know that I am not sabotaging my chances for likes by, for instance, re-submitting my (slightly changed) build: Does that take me to the back of the queue? Do my submissions of Best Build camps on my main affect how often my alts' builds are chosen for display? (2) I came across a best build that included a smoke machine. It was off. Now, it's possible some other player viewing the Best Build version before me turned it off. But my guess is that the camp creator intended that effect (which was, indeed, pretty cool when I turned it on). POINT: Just as damaged items should render that way, switchable items should be switched in the copy to match the way they were set when the build was submitted (e.g., with smoke machine on). (3) Regarding downvoting: My guess is that they're trying to rely on the Rule of Large Numbers kicking in over time. The rankings would indeed be more dynamic with downvotes; you mention Reddit as an example, but I think that actually proves that downvotes ought not be permitted, because Reddit is a notoriously toxic swamp with a high percentage of readers who enjoy nothing more than downvoting promiscuously, for kicks. I also respectfully disagree with Mr. Church's suggestion that up-votes determine two-thirds of the display frequency, with one-third chosen at random: That means a full third of my time even looking at a preview is likely to be wasted; it rewards sloth and stupidity, which is a very bad idea. (4) I haven't yet seen a tamed pet at a Best Build copy camp. I presume they are simply switched off. If there were switched on, I'd hate for players to get my tamed pet killed (e.g., by luring PvE enemies that will attack it and vice versa). But as long as my pet isn't at risk of being killed, I'd rather see them rendered in the copies too, just like allies: My level 100 chameleon deathclaw patrolling my camp entry is very much a part of the overall atmosphere.
i was looking forward to best builds as a way to show some of my best builds. i play mostly by myself and really i build for myself and because i enjoy doing it. i have thought about sharing them but never really took the time to learn how to video it and submit them. this seemed like a good thing. i have noted that the number of likes are quite low and when there is an task to like one they are mostly ones i wouldn't have taken another look at, i liked them anyway because i needed the task completed. i have seen some real nice builds as well. most of your points are valid and good. thanks
I might not be a great or avid builder, or know all tricks (I barely know how to merge items), but I really do appreciate visiting very creative and well put together camps that I can tell that the players put thought, time, and work into. I think the idea of Best Build was in the right direction, but I also agree with you that it definitely needs some tweaks. Especially when it comes to Best Builds popping up on private worlds. And I didn't even know about the "repair after submitted" issue. Like you said, the camp's looks should be locked in and what was damaged at the time of submission should remain that way. Because odds are that the damage was an aesthetic choice made by the builder. Lastly, I really think that your idea of the builder being able to see the number of visitors and being able to compare that to the camp's number of likes is awesome. I think it would eliminate a need for a down vote button, which could possibly be abused by trolls.
So many excellent ideas here. Thanks for making this video. I hope someone at Bethesda is listening. My friends have submitted absolute masterpieces to best builds and no likes. It's very disheartening.
Excellent critique.... Lots of people disappointed in Best Builds and many day they'd just allow people to vote on all camps. I think that would get unwieldly; would prefer they "fix" Best Builds.
bold of you to suggest a dislike system, i did the same on reddit a couple weeks ago and people HATED the idea. don't submit your camp as a best build if you can't handle it being judged. people like you should be in charge of decisions like this because it's obvious the current developers are perfectly content leaving everything half-baked. great video.
You nailed it on issue 1.. that is totally not a good experience for anyone, the builder or the visitors. My biggest annoyance/grief is when they are on the daily challenge.. and you jump servers over and over and nothing shows up..
Well, thank you for this video. I’m not an expert builder like you are, but I have entered the contest with a few of my camps. I use whatever the base game gives me only because I’m a new player compared to everyone else. I have a flamer trap that was given to me in some quest I did, can’t remember. But I can’t use it because I need a level two card or something like that so I just don’t even bother. I watch what you do on your videos and I think it’s fabulous. I would’ve voted for your dinosaur camp if I had seen it. So now I understand why I’ve been to a lot of camps that are absolutely beautiful and are not entered into the contest, it’s because they have used destroyed items in the camp. i’ve been to so many best build camps that are just awful. And then I go to ones that are beautiful and they’re not entered. This is definitely a flood system. I get a few likes on my camps, but not as many likes as the trash camps get. I was thinking about just taking mine off of the best build contests because who cares anyway? There’s no prize at the end of it anyway. As far as I know. Thanks again for this video and for all of your videos. I watched them all and give you a like as well.
I totally agree, this implementation not works as intended. We don't see most voted camps, also, more camps submitted less chance it will be displayed. There should be some kind of menu with sortable list of all submitted camps that you can pick up to trevel to it or spawn in your world if it possible. It would be better just give an option to like a camp you stumble in the game. Also, to show a visitor count. It would be much easer than current system. I like the idea, that your camp my appear on other servers while you are offline, but it should not be a random.
I agree with no cost to travel. If you are having to go see any of them-just to satisfy your daily/weekly then it should be free! You may have to leap onto several servers beofre you are overwhelmed by one that should be a winner.
I have a new gripe with the system. On PC, this isn't a problem, but on consoles, the number of photos you can save are extremely limited. I think we get 30? Maybe 50? And the pictures used(and required) use those same slots. It didn't add any more. I have 3 characters on Playstation with 7 or 8 CAMP slots each. That's over 20 of my slots taken up by the required screenshots.
You probably won’t see this but best builds are considered server side locations like the whitesprings golf clubhouse is. Which is why they don’t appear as active and cost you caps to travel too.
Good points. I think some of your points lead to a bigger issue with building. To make good builds you have to glitch/trick objects to even make unique structures.
You're 100% correct. There's absolutely no incentive other than the occasional chore board requirement. You make great points but don't expect this to ever be anything other than what it is. Honestly, if you did want something change maybe have your viewers submit this feedback to Bethesda.
Thanks for posting this. I had a lot of questions about BB's and have submitted a couple but had no way of knowing if they were even accepted, put out there, if anyone's seen them, gotten likes, nothing. This explained a lot. Sadly, it only depressed me more on top of what I've been figuring out about the system on my own. But totally agree with the points made in the vid and comments. A LOT of improvement needs to happen with BB's. I didn't know about a few of the issues mentioned but I'm not totally surprised they are there. Bethesda really needs to fix these issues. And, for the record, the dino camp is very cool and creative! Reminds me of Fred Flintstone working in the rock quarry in the intro to the cartoon. It makes me smile. You'd definitely get a like from me if I happened upon it!
Bigger camp building budget .... 50% That fast travel for best builds.... the only problem I see here is everyone entering best builds ! So you have free fast travel for 20+ locations Thank you for the video.... Best builds or not, we do need a bigger camp building budget ! ( Thanks again )
well, they only ever will have 3 best builds on a server at a time, so it wouldnt be any different than joining public teams and going to their camps for a free fast travel
Ahhh ok I get it now thank you for clearing that up and for everything you do for the community... i had over 3,000 hours of building in FO4 and I miss it in 76 but with the crazy editor and other time problems I just haven't had the time in 76.
Could implement a tier system: -silver Camp -gold Camp -platinum Camp Have a system that determines this after a certain amount of likes and hidden dislikes, and the higher tier the more likely it’ll show up in different servers.
Totally agree. As it is at the moment this feature will die a slow death of being ignored by most players, kinda like custom worlds. It’s so pointless and badly implemented that it puts off even the keenest camp builders. Let’s hope someone at Bethesda actually sees this video and they turn this dumpster fire around into something useful, slim chance of that unfortunately.
I like having them in my private servers, but I understand why people don't. I think if I was to fix it I'd have a toggle on/off button on the game select screen where you choose private or public. That way when selecting to have a private world you can still benefit from the additional fast travel points and be able to explore a camp, or reject the idea if you want.
I'm camped under the bridge by the junkyard work shop. Its an emersive build thats taken some time to set up. Just working the floors between the bridge pillars and getting two 2x3 floor areas at different hieights, allowing for snap on walls. All kinds of techniques, from merging to how the atlantic city fog affects the lights. Yet, no matter how many players come along and complement me for my camp, they never leave a like. I only have six. 😂 even after one player gave me the camp and thumbs up emotes going in to an event. Yet, I go to some camps with wires through door ways, open empty spaces with everthing pushed to the walls, just poor lazy built camps, with 20-30 likes.
I couldn't agree more with your thoughts on this 'feature.' I really like the idea of splitting the showcases to include least seen, Novice builders etc, because I have been to camps where it's clear that this is a new player's build and sure, it may not be perfect, but how discouraging would it be for them to get 0 likes? They may be really proud of what they have achieved and surely they deserve recognition too? 👍💗
Meh. I was so excited for this when it came out but now, not so much. It would be nice to have some confirmation whether camps that are soft on the server get priority because that seems to be all I see (as in basic structures with resource collectors or buff machines but very little ‘technical trickery’ going on). Or whether these are just the majority of what was submitted 🤷♀️
I can see why they didn't include a dislike option. It would be abused. I'd like to see a grading system, say 1, 2, 3 star. 1 star for people who tried, 2 star for something creative, 3 star for something remarkable.
I hear what you're saying, but I think that a star system would leave a longer lasting negative mark (as it could still be abused with 1 star votes, which would lower the entire overall grade), with likes, you don't see a negative, you just see a growing number (with downvotes maybe slowing down the growth but not killing what you already have forever).
Some interesting points. I have noticed that lighting also is affected. I like to use the tiki torches for ascetic but certain lights aren’t on when a build loads in. Ppl don’t know where you have lights stashed for effect so your build ends up looking meh…
yeah, I don't use those tikis bc they spawn in turned off for some stupid reason >:( and I'm not sure, but it probably renders the camps in with either all the lights turned on, or will reset them to however you had it when submitted (probably with the exception of the tikis which are messed up). I'm not sure though. I know locked stuff gets relocked each time
I saw a best camp with over 2300 likes day one and it was a nice structure but empty on deco. Yet my maxed out camp with lots of merge glitched builds only has 8 likes since day one.
I've got 16 likes on my first build that i've submitted on the 2nd day it came out, all in the same day. And not a single another like since.😅 So i built another good looking and submitted it got another 11 likes on that day and none since. Idk how it works, but it feels it works only on freshly submitted camps, idk😂 love your content man, you are a top notch builder💪
I have a main camp that has never moved from day one. I submitted it right after the update. I've used 90% of my camp budget. I have a theme shipyard / summer camp/ bachelor pad. I've got one like. I don't really care but I visit lots of camps I have gotten great deals on stuff from vendors. I guess mine is too simple.
No I think alot aren't showing up I've seen a box of wood with workbenchs near mine with 1465 likes I spent 6 years perfecting my haunted house and I have 14 likes and I submitted mine on the first day it came out and I'm in a pretty uncommon spot
Best builds, more like you tried star jpeg png the guy who was holding the scrip machine for 5 minutes in the whitespring mall is mad at me for holding Freidrich for one minute gif Hope you enjoyed the birthday
This is always mind boggling to me. Happens more than it should as I am selling stuff to the vendor bot, people get angry and start doing stuff to try to get me to stop. Like, they can just go across the hall or next door there are many more vendor bots, and of course all up and down the hallway...
@spamanator666 yes!!! There are vendors everywhere... go to ANY other vendor! I sell my entire limit all at once, you bothering me doesn't make it go faster.
Perhaps: Submit your camp as a best build. It's hidden. Anyone who visits a camp can donate up to 50 caps to "like" a build. Each week the highest earning camp builder get highlighted on everyone's map except private servers. The winner gets a mysterious stranger that loots the ammo from dead enemies... or gets an award, of somekind ( alas recognition ) Thanks for mentioning the broken/repaired items. I honestly did not know that. Dang. Oh and happy belated birthday.🎉
I totally agree with the idea that my private server should NOT have any best build camp in it. First day they came out I open a private server and my camp can't be placed. WTF Bethesda!!!!
The rate at which my one camp gains likes makes me think that the algorithms are completely borked; every couple of weeks I’ll get a small bunch of likes in one day, after that it’s like nobody has seen it. And to be clear, it’s not like I’m *expecting* a constant flow of likes, it’s just the way they happen seems incredibly off. And I’m kind of astounded that we didn’t get a feature that lets players like the *actual* camp. It’d let us builders interact directly with the people who took the time to look and enjoy our stuff. As a closet raging narcissist, this matters to me. Good breakdown of the issue, Church. I’m hoping B take the communities feedback and make the necessary adjustments.
The way they have it now kind of ruins it for not only the hard core builders, but also those players who enjoy visiting those camps. They never show up!
I’ve been playing since the start and never went to people’s camps until the vendors came out, in fact it’s the only reason I still go to other camps, so no vendor no visit.
I visited your dino best build camp. I still needed to like 2 more best builds for a daily challenge. I just walked away. JK lol TBH you're right on all these points, these are things that I've wondered too.
@@alexp2629 yeah lol i suppose. But honestly, I look at previews & go to ones i think look interesting. Mainly because of the frustrations listed in the video. I don't mind giving a few minutes to hit the like on a few different builds. So far, the spirit Halloween build was my favorite.
I would love to see better camps, visit them while playing. I get so happy when I find a great camp owner in their camp so I can emote my compliments. I gave up submitting to BB, 😞. People didn't seem to care.
Best builds should be nominated by other players.
That is perfect
I have a camp that people tell me all the time I should submit to best builds. It's not done. It's close, in my opinion, but I'm missing old score rewards and atom shop items that I missed in the 5 years I wasn't playing. I am otherwise very proud of my camp, and I'm happy to receive compliments on it and I love it when people show up for the vendor and start wandering around on self-guided tours, but I'm not done with it. I would very much rather not have someone else decide for me 'this is fine' and submit it on my behalf before I'm finished.
@@PlutocracyLP that makes total sense.
@@PlutocracyLPyet it's still prolly head and shoulders better than most 🏆
100% I saw a really good scrappy camp maybe a year ago, and the shelter was even better, I wish I could award the creator.
Definitely, let the players decide wich build is 'Best build' tier
I disagree. Players should be able to nominate themselves. I haven't nominated my camp, and I have no desire for anyone else to do so. Nominated builds have their vendor disabled.
Letting people like camps they go to rather than asking for submissions is a much better system for this.
for now, it's a good thing we can like our own builds, since we're the only ones who get to see them 🤣
If trolls want they can nominate even a platform camp and still flood the system
Just one thing i want improved:
The "real camp" should be likable, too. When I'm online it happens 1-3 times that ppl give me the "Nice camp" emote.
So why not give us a "bb button" for every camp thats online and submitted?
yeah, like a "nice camp, bb" emote would go crazy
That's pretty much what my comment eludes to. I agree. A simple like button that shows up on live server icons is all that's needed. Imo
They should tweak the entire system where it's a "live" thing that works with Active Player camps and just clear all of the current fake feedback. I'd rather 'like' someone's camp that I'm actually visiting organically instead of being prodded to like a random camp.
That's exactly the biggest issue with the execution of this new feature.
I made 3 camps for best builds and spent HOURS on all of them and adding all of the details and only one of my camps has 7 likes and all of those likes came when bethesda launched best builds. People emote and explore my camps when im in game but they cant like it because my camp only shows up in random worlds. The system sucks and i dont even care to explore other camps because it costs caps for some reason.
it's strange that it costs caps for sure lol
Yeah I stopped caring about BB when my enclave camp in the ash heap that I’ve been meticulously
improving over the course of 4 years only has 2 likes while some dude who vomited his workbenches and atomic shop barf all over whitesprings has hundreds of likes.
Most ive had so far is 26, and I've had my build spot blocked multiple times by the most low effort garbage with 100s of likes
Here here
Same here I get multiple messages about my camp it took me 6 years to perfect yet I have 14 likes meanwhile I've seen a box with some workbenchs with 1465 likes
At this point "Best Builds" should just be called "Offline Builds"
Let’s just face facts as well.. likes are for conveniently placed camps, close enough to complete your daily. No one is paying caps to do this for the proper reasons.
Yes, this is the #1 problem... Why do we have challenges to like a build. Takes the point out of liking a CAMP smh
My camp is close to most other camps in a very uncommon spot just above ash heap and I have 14 likes I've seen one not to far from me with 1465 likes and it was a box I honestly just think alot of camps aren't showing up in other servers since they limit how many are on a server the most I've seen on one server is 4
It's been a few weeks since I submitted my camp (spent about 100h on it) and still 0 likes,
not sayint it deserves some, but it's kinda suspicious, it's almost like no one has seen it ^^
Same here
Same. 🥴
The problem is that most people only go to other's camps to check the vendors
The best build system turns the vendor off, therefore there's no compelling reason to visit a best build, other to complete a daily.
Same! Mine isn’t perfect by any means but it’s def a cool Blue Ridge outpost! It has 1 like. I visit other best builds that are literally an empty square and it has 20+ likes?! Like no way…
@@theanthem0ftheangels the trick is to not care.
Think about it. There's absolutely no criteria regarding what constitutes a "best build."
Because of that, there's no scoring system and no means of creating fairness. You're being judged by people you don't know, who have wildly varied tastes in aesthetics, and you're going up against people who might have lots of friends they can get to vote for their camp, or who happened to have their camp online when one of the Daily challenges was "like a best build."
It's an absolute mess of a game mechanic, so I wouldn't worry about it.
Then they could just tally up who were in the top 10 most liked camps for the week and have them show up on the servers
exactly! extra work to make a worse situation imo
Wow okay #7 completely explains why i dont have almost any likes on my camp. Because no one can EVEN ACCESS IT
yeah the like a best build challenges HAVE to be removed. that alone completely ruined any amount of excitement I had about it. like, this isnt the organic community thing they painted it to be.
its another random nonsensical task they can tell you to every day for season rewards.
I didnt think about our best build copy having everything repaired. That'll definitely ruin my tavern where I hid Beckett's bar
it's terrible :(
Your first point is my biggest gripe. No traffic to some beautiful camps simply because of the build's location. Frustrating.
I unlike after I like....
Exactly
I've liked one of my own camps when a friend found it on a server, pretty funny (yes it does actually count for the like)
Also i changed my opinion in the free fast travel.
But you can already do that with public teams so I'm not really sure about that
@@misterchurch666 yeah I said that but I think it's PARTIALLY true but the more I think about it, it's really not a big deal at all.
The down vote doesn’t even have to be seen by anyone, only the all knowing algorithm. 👍
That dinosaur camp was bad ass. I would have liked that one.
thank you! I have a full video on that build if you are interested!
They should change the daily challenge from “Like a Best Camp” to “Visit a Best Camp”.
Neither. I re-roll any challenges that have either option.
meanwhile at the bethesda hq: "ok guys, we've been doing moderately good the last few weeks, what can we add to get everyone upset again? come on, give me your worst!!"
I built a big toilet made from toilets. I spent less than an hour on it and it is hands down the single worst thing I’ve ever made.
lmao
Congrats on the ps5 upgrade it makes a huge difference in visuals and performance and especially load times
thank you! the build menu is so much smoother and quicker now too
Ok, you manage to always make me chuckle no matter the topic. You're the best!
❤
Off topic but, in the camp menu where you toggle your camp on the map, there needs to be a "toggle vender on/off" button.
Yeah.. sadly there is about 80% garbage in best builds
thank you! 🦕
Itd be really nice if you could just like builds of any camp you go to in your world if its been submitted, even if its a normal camp and not one of the 3 best builds
So you're talking out of our asses and you're completely nak? 🤔 🌭
Good vid, man. I hope it reaches it's intended audience. Even if just one person on the team sees it, maybe they'll listen. I'm hopeful, they maintain their interest in making Best Builds something we enjoy instead of just one more poorly executed idea.
it's this hope of yours that inspires all of us
Well, that clears a few things up! Thanks for this video. Completely agree with all you said. I was thinking, instead of down voting, why not give 1-4 stars for example or register when people leave without voting( visible or not)
I don't really log in enough to have much of an opinion, so it's good that you have a few things to say about it
thank you again mister church for properly directing my anger despite not playing the game for months. i am not even paying for 1st anymore and i still feel scammed to learn how best builds work lmao
The problem with that is people would just have their friends and alts like their camps and ruin it for everyone.
Totally agree with 100% of this, the best builds are a good idea done wrong the good old Bethesda special
100% agree with every word, especially when it comes to private servers. Thanks for making this video, lets hope the power that be take note. ps I hope you had a great birthday.
thank you! I did!
I got 7 likes so far on my CAMP, I dunno if that is even good or bad though, like how the eff do we know? There is no ranking system... I think that is not much, as your Grafton General is ten times as cool as my CAMP, but has no likes... that does not even make sense!
I think the only camp I submitted also has 7 likes so 😌
There's going to be so many submissions now it'll take a while to cycle through then you gotta hope there's a daily challenge going on when yours shows up.
Not to mention, “liking” camps is now a daily, or weekly challenge. So how do you know the “likes” are authentic, or if people are just “liking “the camp to get their challenges completed. For example I’ve “liked” a number of camps I didn’t like just to complete the challenge.
👍33, on xbox
Like everyone else is saying, it should simply be a system where ppl can visit your camp and like it. Live, on the active server. That’s it lol
Interesting rant
This is a thoughtful rant, Mr. Church. To it, I'd add:
(1) I wish they'd simply explain "the algorithm." Is there a queue?
But as long as my pet isn't at risk of being killed, I'd rather see them rendered in the copies too, just like allies: My level 100 chameleon deathclaw patrolling my camp entry is very much a part of the overall atmosphere.
i was looking forward to best builds as a way to show some of my best builds. i play mostly by myself and really i build for myself and because i enjoy doing it. i have thought about sharing them but never really took the time to learn how to video it and submit them. this seemed like a good thing. i have noted that the number of likes are quite low and when there is an task to like one they are mostly ones i wouldn't have taken another look at, i liked them anyway because i needed the task completed. i have seen some real nice builds as well. most of your points are valid and good. thanks
Only 2 kinds of camps I see now a day people who don’t care (looks like a yard sale) and people who do. great video church keep it coming 👍
Great video bro. You a legend for the fallout 76 community by using your power for good 👍
I hate how they block people's build locations.
Right?! If an online player enters a server, their camp should have more priority.
So many excellent ideas here. Thanks for making this video. I hope someone at Bethesda is listening. My friends have submitted absolute masterpieces to best builds and no likes. It's very disheartening.
I sent Bethesda the video 😂
Excellent critique.... Lots of people disappointed in Best Builds and many day they'd just allow people to vote on all camps. I think that would get unwieldly; would prefer they "fix" Best Builds.
bold of you to suggest a dislike system, i did the same on reddit a couple weeks ago and people HATED the idea. don't submit your camp as a best build if you can't handle it being judged. people like you should be in charge of decisions like this because it's obvious the current developers are perfectly content leaving everything half-baked. great video.
classic move - redditors downvoted your idea for a downvote system. critical thinking and cheeto dust doesn't mix
@@misterchurch666 you pretend to be unlikable but you're always very charismatic; sounds like humility.

I agree with everything you said here. Also on a side note. They ruined single shot quad and multi-canister weapons!
yeah, I noticed that! Have you considered making a bug report in the bethesda discord?
You nailed it on issue 1.. that is totally not a good experience for anyone, the builder or the visitors.
My biggest annoyance/grief is when they are on the daily challenge.. and you jump servers over and over and nothing shows up..
Dinosaur camp for the win!
🦕
I could rarely submit my CAMPs for “Best Builds” because most of them are YOUR CAMPs. 😂
I watched them all and give you a like as well.
who knew Mister church was secretly Mickey Mouse🧐 6:28
I re-roll “like a best build”.
You'd definitely get a like from me if I happened upon it!
thank you! I have a full video on how I made the dino too if you're interested :)
Bigger camp building budget .... 50%
That fast travel for best builds.... the only problem I see here is everyone entering best builds !
So you have free fast travel for 20+ locations
Thank you for the video....
Could implement a tier system:
-silver Camp
-gold Camp
-platinum Camp
Have a system that determines this after a certain amount of likes and hidden dislikes, and the higher tier the more likely it’ll show up in different servers.
You're asking way too much of Bethesda. You hit the nail on the head with you said Bethesda doesn't put any effort in.
Great video, Mr. Church. I agree with ya 💯
Oh, and I hear voices in my butt
@@EZEfallout thanks for the great news
I couldn't agree more with your thoughts on this 'feature.'
I really like the idea of splitting the showcases to include least seen, Novice builders etc, because I have been to camps where it's clear that this is a new player's build and sure, it may not be perfect, but how discouraging would it be for them to get 0 likes? They may be really proud of what they have achieved and surely they deserve recognition too? 👍💗
Your dinosaure camp seems amazing .
thank you! I have a full video on that build if you get feisty
Meh. I was so excited for this when it came out but now, not so much. It would be nice to have some confirmation whether camps that are soft on the server get priority because that seems to be all I see (as in basic structures with resource collectors or buff machines but very little ‘technical trickery’ going on). Or whether these are just the majority of what was submitted 🤷♀️
all very valid points, thank you!
Idk how it works, but it feels it works only on freshly submitted camps, idk😂 love your content man, you are a top notch builder💪
thank you!
@misfit4ever01 what your info I'll come give it a like 👍
Best builds, more like you tried star jpeg png the guy who was holding the scrip machine for 5 minutes in the whitespring mall is mad at me for holding Freidrich for one minute gif
Hope you enjoyed the birthday
This is always mind boggling to me. Happens more than it should as I am selling stuff to the vendor bot, people get angry and start doing stuff to try to get me to stop. Like, they can just go across the hall or next door there are many more vendor bots, and of course all up and down the hallway...
@spamanator666 yes!!! There are vendors everywhere... go to ANY other vendor! I sell my entire limit all at once, you bothering me doesn't make it go faster.
Mister Church *speaks common sense and good logic*
Bethesda "guess you'll just have to be unhappy 😠 "
Perhaps: Submit your camp as a best build. It's hidden. Anyone who visits a camp can donate up to 50 caps to "like" a build. Each week the highest earning camp builder get highlighted on everyone's map except private servers.
The winner gets a mysterious stranger that loots the ammo from dead enemies... or gets an award, of somekind ( alas recognition )
Thanks for mentioning the broken/repaired items. I honestly did not know that. Dang.
Oh and happy belated birthday.🎉
thank you! I wish the mysterious stranger just showed up sometimes for no reason. One time I VATSed him in pvp xD
The fact that we are left entirely on our own to figure out how the entire system works is SOOOO Bethesda😂😂😂
The way they have it now kind of ruins it for not only the hard core builders, but also those players who enjoy visiting those camps. They never show up!
I’ve been playing since the start and never went to people’s camps until the vendors came out, in fact it’s the only reason I still go to other camps, so no vendor no visit.
I completely agree on almost everything you said.....except the last part.😅
If I ever see your Dino camp, I promise it will be like! I love stuff like that. Lol
I visited your dino best build camp. I still needed to like 2 more best builds for a daily challenge. I just walked away. JK lol TBH you're right on all these points, these are things that I've wondered too.
You can like and unlike a best builds for a daily challenge
@@alexp2629 yeah lol i suppose. But honestly, I look at previews & go to ones i think look interesting. Mainly because of the frustrations listed in the video. I don't mind giving a few minutes to hit the like on a few different builds. So far, the spirit Halloween build was my favorite.
I've noticed when I go to Best builds. Most times you can't use the vending machines.
That's intentional, the player who's camp you're visiting isn't on your server.
@@beammeup__scotty oh I see. Thanks alot.
@@Yagba09 yeah, I think it's one of the few things they got right imo
I would love to see better camps, visit them while playing. I get so happy when I find a great camp owner in their camp so I can emote my compliments. I gave up submitting to BB, 😞. People didn't seem to care.
