Pt. Bhimsen Joshi sang this as a tribute to "Master Of Tarana", "Owner of 'Madhyalaya' " and Ultimately the "Most Influential Classical Singer Forever".
Swarbhaskar was accompanied on Tabla by Ustad Zakir Hussain. Photo used in the video IS FROM THIS CONCERT ONLY. Pt. Bhimsen Joshi and Young Ustad Zakir Hussain are related to each other in a complex way.
Pt. Bhimsen Joshi was a keen admirer of Khansaheb Ustad Amir Khan. He was highly influenced by Khansaheb's festooned Raag and Taal cycle. Pt. Bhimsen's music is "handicapped" without Khansaheb's touch. Bhimseni Darbari, Ramdasi Malhar, Marwa, and bandishes in madhyalaya are inherited from Khansaheb. It is said that Panditji didn't ate for 2 days when Khansaheb passed away in an unfortunate car accident.
This Sawai Gandharva was tribute to him. Bhimsen Ji sang very unusual (I think so he sang this piece only once) piece "Jogiya Mere(here More) Ghar Aaye, Ghar Ek Aalakh Jagah Hai" in raag Lalat. Khansaheb had sang this as a Film Song in late 50s. This used to be common lalat rendition of Khansaheb which was usually followed by a Tarana which meant "Aandar Aa Jao Mai Tera Hu".
About the concert:
Pt. Bhimsen Joshi started with Lalat vilambit ektaal "Rain Ka Sapna" followed by Drut "Jogiya Mere Ghar Aaye" and ended with Ati Drut "Bhayalibhor Gajarwa". The next piece in this concert was rare Bhairavi "Raas Ke Bhare Tore Naina" and ended with Tukaram Abhang in Ahir Bhairav "Tirtha Vitthal"
I've already uploaded Kumar Gandharva's performance of "Jamuna Ke Teer" from this concert. I believe that Pt. Bhimsen Joshi wasn't video recorded because there was some camera problem as you can see in Kumar's video.

Amir Khan shahebs sargam was his speciality. Where as Jo bhaje Hari ko sada Bhajan of Bhimsen Joshi was like national anthem to classical music lovers.

Great singing, this Bandish is almost the same as "Bhavanda Yarada Jobana " also in rag Lalit ..sung by Pandit ji and also by Ustad Rashid Khansab many times ..Thanks a million for uploading this piece with the background
Actually you know I was 100% sure that after ektaal Bhimsen Joshi will sing that and in 1st 2 minutes I was was humming Bhavanda yarda to myself and it turned out to be Rare piece.

I don't have video of this concert. But I surely have the video recording of a concert held in 2002 hailed under banner of " Indrayani Kathi"
Zakir Hussain accompanied Bhimsen Joshi only 3 to 4 times I believe. Once at Amravati, then at Sawai and last at Times of India concert with Pt. Bhavani Shankar too.
@@Bhimmanna The last concert which you have referred to (,Bhimsenji, Zakir Husseinji and Pt.Bhavani Shankar on Pakhavaj) was organizsed in Thane, Dadoji Konddev Stadium. I am lucky that I was present in that event. If I am not wrong, that was the last public performance of great Bhimsenji.

Description says the 1981 sawai gandharva was dedicated to ustad amir khan but he died in 1974. Wonder why they chose this year and not the year after his death?
Pt. Bhimsen Joshi was very much devoted to Amir Khansaheb. In an interview with Mr. Joshi(director of HMV at that time) he said "Amir Khansaheb sowed the seeds and we are eating it's fruits" Every time he sang Abhogi he drifted into past memories of Khansaheb.
I know this is irrelevant to your question but I felt like telling this to you.
He is the head and shoulders of Clasicals in India and unparalleled, unmatched

No one can ever come close to Ustad Amir Khan in rendering this bandish or even this raag, not even the great Bhimsen. Btw, listen Amir Khan's 1955 Hamsadhwani another unattainable height that UAK reached with that raag.
Brother Please do not compare artish among themselves. Everyone has got their own unique style. How can Amir Khan saheb sing in Kumar's style and Kumar sing in Bhimmanna's?
