I did some upgrades to my homemade MTB work stand... I didn't make a video for the actual stand, but I tried to explain it as best I could... this video is mainly about the upgrade to the clamping mechanism... Enjoy...

I like the fact that you showed the weakness in the old stand. This helps us avoid the pitfalls you had. Sharing that knowledge is IMO, is what all DIY videos are all about. Or should be. You covered this project very well. I have built stands of different designs myself. And they all work. As does yours. But most of the time, I always say to myself,...." If I had to do this over again, I would do..........such and such. Thanks for the great info.

simple idea and it seems easy for me to make it myself at home
I happen to be looking for a tutorial to make something like that...
I have watched many videos but they are complicated...
    while this is simpler...
    thanks for sharing

That is truly amazing. You have a superior talent. So much work to do.
I am curious my first thought at the start was two heavy strips on each side of the bracket bolted in. You would t get any flex.
I like the wood stand as put a bike in and out is less invasive on bike paint for sure.
    Thanks again

At first I thought you were over engineering the clamp mechanism and making it more complicated than it had to be.
After seeing the finished product, I like it a lot.
It’s clean, has a good finish, and seems easy to use.
I’m a fabricator and I don’t give out compliments very often on TH-cam but your bike rack deserves a “well done.”
After seeing all of the “you never thought of this...” or “old mechanic taught me...or ” don’t throw away old...” click bait videos from usually an Asian country, I’ve turned a little bitter towards most fabricator videos because the workmanship is usually very poor. Don’t get me wrong, I’m impressed with the ingenuity of People that are from a poorer country or places that just don’t have the availability of modern tools and materials, but most of the stuff made is pretty bad with even worse paint jobs.
    Again, well done sir.
