I remember being a little kid and seeing this on TV I thought it was THE BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!!!! it was free like on Saturday afternoon!!, I told my sweet Mom and she said that old thing!! I thought it was better than anything!! I was 9 ! Such a great memory! GOD BLESS everyone!
As a 8 year old, I watched this movie in a theater in 1954 & loved, loved, loved it! Seeing Lucy & Desi, in color & on a big screen was like getting an early Christmas present! Seeing it now, after 70 years, shows that Desi Arnaz was no "2nd banana" to Lucy, but was a 'genius' as a comedian & actor, himself! These two professionals got early, sit-com television ratings, that no one else could ever attain, to this day!
For all of us that grew up in the 50's, we all love this movie. I was 8 years old and loved this film. I've seen it at least once a year ever since ! This will be funny another 70 years from now ! We all loved Lucy & Desi ! 💙
I saw it when it first came out in 1954. I was almost 6 years old. The old Studio City Cinema is now a book store, but that building holds many memories and this is one of my favorites.
Found one of these on the back property of land owned by someone who had gotten it so long ago from a family member. They used it to store some furniture, things you find at antique stores now. The trailer needs a thorough cleaning, but the structure is sound, not a leak or a crack. Some honey bees found it comfortable, but all in all with only paint and updated appliances, we're making it a starter home for our son. Bought it for $200!
This movie The Long,Long Trailer is my all time favorite. I seen it once in my life and that's all it took for me to call it my favorite😁👍🏼🙂 one day going to buy this movie and watch it as many times as I want to 😃
My grandma said the same thing thirty years ago. There's plenty of sterile, "clean" entertainment out there and on TV. You just don't want anyone to enjoy what you don't.
"Gilligan's Island" is on re-runs all the time if you need that kind of pap. It made some of us sick back in the sixties, but we didn't gripe about it. We watched something else that we liked. Oh, but you're right about the Kardashian crap.
wow flashbacks from early 80s when i drove xcountry...going thru that tunnel to Yosemite Park, El Capitan, 1/2 Dome, that was a good time drove w/ my mom 5wks form NY to Cal & back in a TOYOTA! we are best of friends, in the good ol' days when ppl drove, sang to the radio & enjoyed it, no road rage! no texting & crashing!!! just enjoying a song on the radio, no switching channels constantly...& we used to talk w/ each other in person, we left our keys in our cars well that was further back in the day but actually i still leave my keys in my jeep hell its an early 90s & is stick shift no one under 40 can drive it!
I'm sure someone else mentioned this previously in the comments section (might've even been me!) but I can't resist: This is a long, long trailer for _The Long, Long Trailer_ 😆 Seriously, it's such a fun comfort-food classic film, in super Technicolor. I love when Marjorie Main mentions that she gave the new bride a sleeping pill! Movies like this are great ... some other gems include: The Trouble with Angels The Ghost and Mr. Chicken Make Mine Mink It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World The Parent Trap Some Like it Hot The Patsy The Ladykillers Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein The Secret Life of Walter Mitty The Thrill of it All
I have this L & D film & Forever Darling (with James Mason) on DVD...as a dyed in the wool Lucy & Desi fan I still watch them both often & enjoy their sweet taste of innocence now long lost....❤️
Forever Darling (they considered a flop but I considered it lots of fun too. Her 1968 film with Henry Fonda Yours Mine Ours also got wonderful reviews and made a lot of $.
I also remember seeing this movie as a young girl on tv. I am sending it to my lovely grandaughter and her family who are embarking on a big trip around australia. I hope this is a bag of laughs for them
just love this, as we lived in a trailer when I was a young child, we lived in 3 states in 3 yrs. as my dad followed teaching jobs to CA. so this brings back memories
This was probably the first time most people saw Lucy's red hair, since "I Love Lucy" was in black and white (as well as most of the previous movies she had made).
No, she wasn't dubbed. That is her voice. Plus, Lucy actually could sing. What she did on I Love Lucy was for comedy purposes, she didn't sing loud and off key in real life.
@@tracy4good After their divorce they remained friends co-parenting and talked on the phone almost every week. Desi continued sending Lucy her favorite flowers on their wedding anniversary, at least 15 years after their divorce and they were happily remarried with other people. Desi was always helpful about her tv shows and other projects and when she was head of Desilu. They last talked on the phone two days before Desi died which was on their wedding anniversary. According to Lucie Arnaz, who was holding the phone for her father, Lucy kept saying, I love you, I love you, I love and Desi answered I love you too honey. ❤
Lucy made I love Lucy with him from the 50s to 60s and she also made a show with Vivian Vance called The Lucy Show. I am watching both atm. And I love lucy is a 24/7 comedy. All episodes are funny. And The Lucy Show is (is not black white in color btw) is not comedy only but it is fun!
going to download this movie, love those old trailers, we have a 1969 rover and LOVE staying in it, like a motel room on wheels except mine clean linen with no bugs or stink from previous guests because only we sleep in it
Spent way too much time watching Lucy reruns as a kid. Even today I still can’t decide weather I think she is attractive. At the same time, there is a strong familiarity with her appearance, my sister and one of my nieces look so much like her. Perhaps that is the reason. Lucy is a legend, her life’s work will endure as long as people keep tuning in.
I love this movie so much. !!!! I've been able to see it on Comcast Cable once then you have to pay to see it awww. Anyway a classic funny movie, better than this junk now days for sure !!!!
a couple meant to be, loved each other to the end. their marriage didn't work due to Desi's misdemeanors, altho it did last 20 years not 5 mins . and to know Lucy was the last person he spoke to before he died on thier wedding anniversary is rather lovely if sad and what did they both say ?' i love you' Lucy went away heartbroken and said , to her friend ' he was the only one ' even her then Husband Gary , when Lucy died said Magnanimously ,'She's gone to be with Desi now '.
My dad used to travel around the country in A 38 foot Monaco dynasty motorhome with a decent size trailer so when he and my mom watched this movie later they had to stop part way through because it was giving them too much anxiety. Too close to home I guess.😂
It's interesting that cars back then were so robust that they could pull a trailer of that size. Today you would need at least a 3/4 ton p/u to tow that.
I noticed that they don't have the necessary auxiliary mirrors that clamp onto both front fenders. Evidently, the persons in charge of making things appear authentic was not very knowledgeable about trailer towing.

This was probably the first time most people saw Lucy's red hair, since "I Love Lucy" was in black and white (as well as most of the previous movies she had made).
Her nickname was “Technicolor Tessie”, because she looked so beautiful in color, so that’s not true.
She actually had a nice singing voice:)
No she didn't. (RE: Mame) She was thankfully dubbed in this one.

Yes Lucy sings she has been a show girl for years before this movie and they sang danced and acted.
