Sophia is trying so hard to be the monster everyone seems to think she is. Living up to the Hangman title so no one crosses or underestimates her again. Understandably it’s for her revenge and survival but it’s so sad that she can’t be the charitable and compassionate woman she once wanted to be.
Well stuttering could be seen a freezing words, so that's where he could get the nickname from. However, I can't see him saying one of the best lines in cinematic history being "ICE TO SEE YOU!"; even though he did just ice someone.
I hope that they won’t bring too much of the comics into the show or movie. New characters and original ideas to make it more realistic is what makes these films/movie so good. Character like mr freeze and two Face doesn’t fit into these genre. The true detective/Italian mob vibes is just too good.
Even though Oz is 'the bad guy', things like his relationship with his mother and Vic make you side with him... but I think the final episodes will show that he really is THE Bad Guy, The Penguin.
@tonykennedy8483 I haven't seen or heard that but it would make sense. There's only 2 or 3 people he seems to care about, but in the end will he show that to "reach out and take it" he only cares about himself?
2:27 It’s clear that oz cares about legacy and people remembering names. It’s peppered in the show a lot, essentially in this episode oz says to Vic “they will remember our” names. Obvious subtext It’s the whole reason we hear about Rex in the story. Shows us his motivation isn’t necessarily money
I just finished watching episode 6 a few seconds ago and what a dilemma each character is facing and you can tell revenge season has started for Sofia Gigante and Sal Maroni. You can see the hatred they both have for Oswald Cobblepot and they just want to destroy him. Talk about the father figure that Sal serves to Sofia Falcone and seeing that caring side from him was kind of nice. This episode we really get to see more layers to Sal Maroni and when Clancy said something about where we will see Sal not giving up and fighting during NYCC Penguin panel we see that in this episode.
Master is to Mister as Miss is to Missus. basically, unmarried versus married. also, total long shot here, but what about Vic becoming Victor Zsasz? they foreshadowed Vic having to kill more with Penguin saying, “it [would] get easier.” it’s one of the more interesting character paths for Vic, and having Penguin be the catalyst for transforming him from an innocent kid to a violent monster would significantly add to how despicable Oswald is.
Perfect timing for Batman to show up next episode are they going to let Sofia kill an old lady. I can see Batman popping up like “ight guys your taking it too far now time for me to beat yo ass” lol 😂
“Botman”. Nah i’m kidding. I love you bro. 😂 But yeah I can definitely see them doing a MCU thing where The Batman is just watching everything go down in Part 2 from his perspective. I’m a sucker for that shit.
@12:34 the reverse joker /Harley Stockholm is a beautiful take especially since a lot of Harley’s story is of the emotional manipulation which parallels Sofia familial betrayal
What hits the hardest for me is the fact that, although Vic did do it for his new makeshift family and the operation, (Spoilers) The turmoil and the anguish that he went through after shooting squid didn't even matter. It was Oz's lies to Eve that still lead Sophia to Crowne Point. I love this show so much, it does such a good job of making me root for everyone simultaneously!
This episode made me realize that even though Oz is a terrible guy, there are times when I catch myself thinking, "I could follow Oz," and then I remember everything I've seen. It makes sense why these guys would go along with him as they haven't seen everything that we've seen. Oz is scarily convincing. I guess being an ugly gimp would cause him to have very well-developed survival and persuasion skills.
FYI, the GCPD Building is actually the Royal Liver Buildings in Liverpool. Very famous building, with two 'Liverbirds' perched atop, one facing the city to protect them, the other facing the sea to protect our sailors.
Dang they really holding on the Bruce Wayne/batman mention hard. Great episode otherwise. Bruce has to be out of town…it’s the only thing that makes sense at this point. Ain’t no way an active Batman is letting all this slide
Penguin says ppl don't know your names because thats a reflection of how he feels about himself. He was just "The Penguin" but now he's building himself to be Ozwald Cobb
In episode 1, when talking about Rex to Alberto, he mentions that Rex knew everyone's names. "Dunno how he kept it all in his head". I think his obsession with "they don't know your names" comes from the impression Rex had on him growing up.
As someone with a close family member in a similar situation to Oz's mother, this episode hit close to home, seeing how sentimental he is about caring for his mother. I can't help but think that once he loses his mother, he will embrace the persona of "The Penguin."

The 1st Jack Reacher movie touches on "construction " as a way to corruption.
Even though Oz is 'the bad guy', things like his relationship with his mother and Vic make you side with him... but I think the final episodes will show that he really is THE Bad Guy, The Penguin.
Hasn't Farrell been quoted as saying no one will like Penguin after what he does at the end of the show
I reckon he'll kill Vic
@tonykennedy8483 I haven't seen or heard that but it would make sense. There's only 2 or 3 people he seems to care about, but in the end will he show that to "reach out and take it" he only cares about himself?
2:27 It’s clear that oz cares about legacy and people remembering names. It’s peppered in the show a lot, essentially in this episode oz says to Vic “they will remember our” names. Obvious subtext It’s the whole reason we hear about Rex in the story.
Shows us his motivation isn’t necessarily money
Yeah, episode one when he first mentions Rex, the "he knew everyone's names" was a real point of impression for him
I just finished watching episode 6 a few seconds ago and what a dilemma each character is facing and you can tell revenge season has started for Sofia Gigante and Sal Maroni.
Well done lad. Cheers.
There's only two episodes left of this miniseries... Just thought I give ya'll a heads up.
Great episode great series great univers great breakdown great great great
I check your videos out all of the time. Just subscribed
The light shade in Eve's room looks like the Penguins umbrella
@12:34 the reverse joker /Harley Stockholm is a beautiful take especially since a lot of Harley’s story is of the emotional manipulation which parallels Sofia familial betrayal
It’s pretty gay actually…of course the woman is in charge
What hits the hardest for me is the fact that, although Vic did do it for his new makeshift family and the operation,
(Spoilers)
The turmoil and the anguish that he went through after shooting squid didn't even matter. It was Oz's lies to Eve that still lead Sophia to Crowne Point. I love this show so much, it does such a good job of making me root for everyone simultaneously!
I think it would best now that he has his first kill that Victor becomes Victor Zazz!
He already killed when he drove into a marone thug when he saved Oz
2:19 and the AT&T building in Nashville has a similar design. The building nickname is the Batman building.
Goddam what a show. Not since season 1 of "Daredevil have I had this much fun watching a comic-book adaptation on TV.
Eve looks like Pengs mom in this episode
FYI, the GCPD Building is actually the Royal Liver Buildings in Liverpool. Very famous building, with two 'Liverbirds' perched atop, one facing the city to protect them, the other facing the sea to protect our sailors.
Damn, this show is getting better and better!
Did anyone else think those drinks Oz was handing out were poisoned?
No, because he absolutely needed all of them😄 Their protection and alliance is crucial to him standing a chance against Sofia
I did. It was certainly directed and edited that way.
@@DialloMoore503 Not really if you keep in mind of the plot honestly
Dang they really holding on the Bruce Wayne/batman mention hard. Great episode otherwise. Bruce has to be out of town…it’s the only thing that makes sense at this point. Ain’t no way an active Batman is letting all this slide
Well, he was riding a motorcycle on a rural road at the end of his movie.
It's not like he took down the whole mob in the first movie. He's not the legend yet. It's a big city. People barley know his name.
Stop it. Penguin very well should know who he is and he was operating for 2 years before the movie.
Perfect breakdown of this 6th episode
As someone with a close family member in a similar situation to Oz's mother, this episode hit close to home, seeing how sentimental he is about caring for his mother. I can't help but think that once he loses his mother, he will embrace the persona of "The Penguin."
Oz telling his crew ‘lose lips’ is a criminal interrogated by Batman in Arkham Origins, and Paul’s Diner is a nod to Arkham Knight and Paul Dini, also the crowbar a nob to joker killing Jason Todd, and both VIK and Jason use guns.
7:00 nah, The Penguin has already worn a Tux in The Batman, months before this.
When he first meets Batman in the Iceberg Lounge, he’s wearing a tux.
“Woah there sweetheart. Take it easy.” Etc
Vic becomes Red Hood. There are parallels here. Batman takes in Jason Todd aka Robin after stealing rims from the batmobile. Joker tortures Todd left him for dead becomes the Red Hood. Vic steals rims from the penguin, penguin takes him in, sofia finds penguins mom and vic , sofia has crowbar and her doctor(vic will get tortured) eventually turning him into the red hood. Comeback to this comment when he becomes Red Hood.
Vic: “I’m so traumatized, Oz.”
Oz: “…”
Oz’s mom: “jeez get this kid therapy”
Oz: “sure we’ll get to it”
I think Sofia is absolutely brilliant. I'm so excited for Batman 2. Thought the penguin series would've showed Victor Zsasz at some point
I can’t believe Vic just ignored that sound. I was like ‘please don’t be Sofia!’ And BOOM, standing there with the crowbar! SH*T!!!!!! 👀😳
Ran to TH-cam to see if Heavy Spoilers had a breakdown video up and you never disappoint.
The Penguin🐧: the best series of the year (DC/HBO/MAX). Looking forward to the road to The Batman: Part II🦇 (2026). Matt Reeves' Batverse.
DC CÓMICS/DC STUDIOS/ESWORDLS OF DC.
The pliers are a parallel for Batman Returns. When the Penguin bit that guys nose
Rush has become a quantum level simp rofl.
I mean Sofia is hot though, can you blame him???
Theory I just had, what if the necklace that Francis is wearing ends up being a necklace that Sofia's mother used to have and that sends her over edge?
Holy shit that might be true as carmine probably gave it to oz as a thank you
