The reason the first unlock code is always 0451 is because it was the code to get into building where Looking Glass Studios was headquartered. The first game to use it was the first System Shock. As for why other games use it, well its an easy way to express what games were inspirations for the devs, as well as to pay homage to the long line of System Bio Thief Deus Ex Shock-likes that came before.

For Pat, it's holding the whole roll of toilet paper in his hand. For his mother, it's refusing to close the door on the little detergent compartment in the dishwasher door.

I was roommates with a guy who had such bad OCD he would get stuck in his own personal time loops. For instance; One time I went to the store to buy groceries and I walked by him tying his shoes at the front door. By the time I came back from shopping he was still tying and untying his shoes, counting every time. Something to do with prime numbers he said. Couldn't stop until he hit the right one. One time I went to sleep as he was stuck turning his light on & off. When I woke up, he was still flipping the switch. Interesting guy but my god, what kind of life...

So I want to say that this one was my favorite of the entire series. They setup such a giant world with great lore but the following games render all your choices worthless by reusing the same places, same characters and even the same villains, also undoing the mystery of the outsider in the lamest way. Also yeah, the tight corridors filled with those annoying flying bugs in D2 was annoying to deal with if you wanted to collect everything in them, big empty hallways that are bad to navigate, mind goblins etc.

Far be it from me to decide what might make this experience easier for Pat, but I don't think this "rush through literally everything and hyperfocus on finding coin while ignoring any reading or worldbuilding" is exactly helping with the mind goblins. If he paced himself a little more like he does with, say, Remedy games, and took the time to digest the world a bit more, he might find it an overall less stressful experience.
I realize the mind goblins mostly have to do with save-scumming and the stealth/chaos system in this case, and that this isn't the first time he's played Dishonored, but I also know, at least for me, that I get a lot less anxious about my own mind goblins when I try to fully immerse myself in the world and writing of a game like this.
Also, from what I know about how long it's been since he last played it (at release, or close to, right?), the game should be a relatively fresh experience if he gives it a chance to be. Treating it like a purely "do objective fast get more coin" game is probably not helping his case, but what do I know about the enigma that is Pat's mind?

1:05:15 gotta love how Pat tries REALLY hard to read the "short version" of everything he picks up, to the point that he often leaves out the actually interesting or useful parts of the text, like the last line of this diary that is one of the best, most chilling lines in this game.
This is why I ultimately prefer Woolie and Reggie's take on reading stuff. If you're gonna read it, actually read all of it and soak in the meaning. Made their Elden Ring playthrough ten times more interesting, and it has me especially looking forward to when they eventually play Cyberpunk 2077.
So many little stories of different lives and actors in Night City crossing paths, for better or worse, and most of the really interesting stories like that are found in computer logs and messages found on seemingly random gangoon bodies and whatnot. Lots of crazy conspiracies and plots to uncover that way, by taking your time and soaking in the environmental storytelling and texts.

I don't even have mind goblins and this game gives me mind goblins. Dishonored is one of those games that's so tempting to optimize to the point of misery so I get it LOL. Both High and Low Chaos are fun for different reasons though so High Chaos is definitely not a punishment, it just responds to the way you play by giving you ostensibly more of what you want. Want to go on a killing spree? Have some more enemies to kill. Ofc the "bad" ending isn't going to treat you like a hero, that's not what you've been playing as. It's not an especially complex system, but it works.

Also she insisted all cereals should be taken out of their original boxes BUT STILL IN THEIR PACKETS...and put inside plastic containers that were designed to pour out the cereal...but because she kept them in the packet the new container was rendered useless...so you had to remove the lid...take the packet with the cereal in out of the plastic box and then pour it freehand...mums are weird i swear.

The weirdest my mom ever got was when she promised to buy me a videogame if I did all my chores in the time between the school bus dropping me off and her getting home from work, so I did it because I knew KoTOR 2 had just come out, and so she took me to the store and then when I grabbed KoTOR 2 abd she said "no, that one is to expensive. Pick another one." And I said "all the xbox games are the same price" so she responded "you have a gameboy, those games are cheaper, pick one of those."

Actually, just thought of something weirder; when I was around 10 or whatever my parents decided that if I wanted to see a movie based on a book I had to read said book(exceptions were made for Lord of The Rings for obvious reasons). Except there was an odd caviot my mom put on tge Harry Potter books: I had to hand the book to mom fir Hargrid's lines because his grammar/spelling is wrong and she didn't want my autism picking that up.
In hind sight that's probably why she banned the watching of Rugrats as well.

because you can play the game twice and get two totally different experiences with different story elements and endings. kill everyone have a blast and then go sneaky sneaky for a different experience is that so hard to understand? that's twice the value in the game right there two totally different playstyles!

@@ultimatedespairgamer6722 It tells you the world will get fucked up through killing but that's still fucking vague considering the lengths you actually have to go to in order to affect the chaos system, it isn't clear at all and the only way to get a clear view of the system is through experimentation.

To be fair - playing it this way is super unfun and also convoluted as fuck.
Like, WHY would I use an insane amount of mana on a power to stop time, waste a bullet/other consumable to set up a projectile to kill ONE GUY when a knife to the back does the trick?
Like, by the way people were talking about it, I was convinced that Dishonored is MUCH more fun to play with no restraints but it's still full of problems then, just of different kind.

We all have a bit of goblin in us. Also Pat, your mom isn't crazy about the dishwasher tab thing, only the part where she seems to think it doesn't open up mid-wash, your dishwasher just sucked. Plenty of dishwashers have some way to do a prewash detergent but not all of them use the same method or even use tabs for it cause of liquid detergents and that weird salt thing in the Europes (seriously, enlighten me, I must understand this mystical salt that you apparently have).

  • @EienOfDark

Pat, the way you 'solve' your mind goblins doesn't work the same for everyone (hence "make up a bunch of rules for yourself"). I wash my hands constantly but I don't have anxiety. It's not a soothing motion that could be replaced with something else. I just feel unclean. I'm not worried about germs or getting sick, so 'breaking it by waiting and seeing that nothing happens' won't help either. I'm worried about getting hand grease on everything I touch. Not being able to wash becomes increasingly maddening the longer I go without.

Suggestion for the next Goblinbusting stream: play Total War and get used to losing units.
You can even do it with real goblins for the extra catharsis.
