I know, right?! When you've heard all the lore videos 10 times over, these behind the scenes interviews are so refreshing. And although there are similar channels out there I think Jordan's vids are standing out with his enthusiasm and overall quality of his work.
To my mind the Dark Elves of mid-to-late-era WFB resemble Moorcockian Chaos-traffickers more than the Chaos Warriors of the same period - though that's because the RoC books did such a good job of establishing the Chaos pantheon we all know and steadfastly oppose. Really the Chaos Warriors stand as the holotype of GW's practice of taking a fantasy idea, 'Warhammerising' it (to use a term coined by a sceptical friend of mine) and jiggling it about until they find a niche for it in their own mythos. Sometimes, as with the Squats, this takes a while, but Chaos Warriors did it so well that it's hard to imagine a Warhammer World without the horny little buggers. I recall once trying to come up with an expansive fantasy mythos with a friend who shared my concern that our gaming club was too Warhammer-focused; we had armies of fairy-like elves, swamp-dwelling dwarfs with animist magic ripped out of early-period Shadowrun, evil radioactive giants inspired by Rob Zombie videos, cyborgs created by a crash-landed factory spaceship and a dozen other factions, but the project got rather deflated when we were a couple of Fridays into creating the Dark, a faction of all-encompassing demon-worshippers, and realised that we were cribbing the whole idea from Warhammer. Our club focused so much on Warhammer, we realised, because Warhammer is, for all of the jury-rigging and cribbing that went into its early editions, a masterfully well-executed pulp fantasy milieu, and the Chaos Warriors are crucial to that.
Looking forward when you eventually do a video on chaos dwarves. They are such a squatted faction, but the Forge World models they got for that one 8th edition supplement were the most amazing thing in existence.
Lets just say that the guy who designed the costumes and look of the bad guys in 1982's 'Beastmaster' movie - was a Warriors of Chaos fan, also that first scene in Conan the Barbarian (1982 movie) - there MUST have been some Warriors of Chaos influence there especially with the leaders on horseback.
Totally agree! I have an episode of my GW Films Club podcast coming out this weekend all about Conan and its influence! (Over on the Jordan Sorcery Pods channel)
As someone who was a teenager from the beginning ofvthe 80s, and bought all this stuff as it was released, these are just the best deep dives into the history of the company/factions etc.
Great video. For me, what makes them iconic is that closed helm that covers all features of their face; it’s like they lose all humanity and become a faceless killing machine (not unlike a masked slasher in horror)
This is peak Jordan Socery content right here. LOVE IT! Also, you've helped identify one of the earlier GW models I own: Daethskar from the C35 range. A friend gave me several Chaos Warriors from that era and I've never tried to identify them despite having used Stuff of Legends many times in the past. I didn't realize he was on the cover of the 3rd ed. book! I've gotta paint that guy up now. He deserves it. The other Chaos minis I have (4-5) are mostly similar to Daethskar, although one of them is a Chaos-Cat-Warrior; I've always wondered what his story is. To the interwebs!! Thank you Jordan. :-) (Joey Jar Jar) ;-)
Great video! Excellently researched and written. Top show! More warriors of chaos please. Take us on a tour of how their range and their lore has evolved. I look forward to it.
The forces of Chaos have always spoke to me. Whispers of darkness lol. Definitely a solid choice for a army going back to the early days of WFB. I just love the Warriors of chaos look.
As you delve more into lore from old editions, I found myself collecting a Warriors of Chaos army. So this video is like a peak point, Warhammer is not Empire or Space Marines, Sigmar etc. For me, Warhammer is Chaos. Especially Warriors because they have more character than Chaos Space Marines.
I've always loved Chaos in Warhammer and played numerous armies over the years. When Old World happened I felt a mighty urge to do a new army and had to go heavily into an Ian Miller inspired force. There are so many themes/styles available for Chaos stuff, they always feel fresh.
Thanks Jordan Another great video, I love those early chaos warriors and thugs they really fired up my imagination at the time. I wish those early citadel miniatures were still being made. Oh btw MORE MOONSTONE PLEASE! Because of you I have a starter set on order 😊
Yes! When I heard him mention Kaleb Daark it brought back such memories. I think that was the first time I ever used eBay as I was determined to get that model.
Thank you going to be a good video. As far as Chaos as a whole, we know the answer is Micheal Moorcock, at least the eight pointed star. Law was just a straight arrow pointing up btw.
Great video Jordan. The preslotta warriors are now very obscure indeed. I don't think they were produced in large numbers and I believe (unconfirmed) that the preslottas were cast from a slightly different alloy with more lead in it, liable to rot. For example I have never seen the multi part pre slotta warriors ever change hands, but most stuff from '85 onwards can be found quite readily if you are prepared to pay. That's a relervant point actually, although hard to really investigate- a reason why the chaos warrior seems to have become so ubiquitous in '85 with the C35s is I think simply because they were produced in much greater numbers.
My favorite army by far! Also the easiest to paint for me with a little careful mini selection (I was terrible at faces, you see). And with influences like Moorcock and Frazetta, how could one go wrong?
(Me again) The dedication is wfb 2nd edition. All three books. It reads "Dedicated to Phil barker, donald featherstone, michael moorcock, Whose fault it all is".
Kaleb Daark, and the brothers are most longest sort after minis. So much so I've been tempted to sell my wizard with machine gun to put the funds into them instead..... one day, one day......

This channel is criminally underappreciated.
You’re too kind

Keep spreading the word of Jordan guys… wherever there are Warhammer enthusiasts! 🎉
Blood and souls for my lord Arioch.. I mean blood for the blood god and skulls for his throne!

I think we should all take a moment to also remember the Chaos Enchanter.....Tim.
Perfect example as someone totally focused on his evil craft.

Nice to see/hear my favorite character/universe getting lots of love and credit. Moorcock

Kaleb Daark episode!!! Can't Wait!
Really great history as always! I loved hearing about all the pre GW/warhammer ip stuff, thanks for making these they're so sick
Cheers mate!
Great deep dive, really cool to see the origins of the bad guys and the minis and art that started it all.
"the Crack of Desolation actually predated the Great Unclean One" 🤣🤣🤣
Nurgle might claim that rather than desolation a more appropriate term would be bounty.

Glad you enjoyed it mate! I really like that Daethskar mini, such a great look!
Great video! Excellently researched and written. Top show! More warriors of chaos please. Take us on a tour of how their range and their lore has evolved. I look forward to it.

I still have my 90’s Monopose Chaos Warriors and planning to finally rank them up for Old World
You love to see it
I haven't been with you for a while but i'm back and loving it!
Happy to have you back, mate!
Great content as usual, Chaos is a fav! 👍🏽
Chaos and Warhammer are so intrinsically linked, they’re such good villains
Thanks for a great deep dive. Chaos-Squeak, Chaos-Squeak! 🤩🐀🌠 🐀
Glad you enjoyed it, mate!
I need to collect some Eternal Champion miniatures!
They’re class!
I've always loved Chaos in Warhammer and played numerous armies over the years. When Old World happened I felt a mighty urge to do a new army and had to go heavily into an Ian Miller inspired force. There are so many themes/styles available for Chaos stuff, they always feel fresh.

MORE MOONSTONE PLEASE!
Because of you I have a starter set on order 😊
Moorcock interview please! Hawkwind. Thanks for the share!!
Another great video Jordan
A video about [Redacted]!?!? Looking forward to it! Great video as always Jordan. Seeing all those old lead minis was great!
So many terrific sculpts in those early ranges!
I NEED the video about Kaleb Daark, come Chaos, Dreadax thirsts for you!
If I could get any old Citadel miniature to add to my collection, it'd be Daark!
Yes! When I heard him mention Kaleb Daark it brought back such memories. I think that was the first time I ever used eBay as I was determined to get that model.
Fascinating! Another brilliant video. Thank you!
Thank you
Love your videos, always a swift kick in the nostalgias
This channel is the main culprit that I'm returning to Warhammer Fantasy lol
Loved this, so good as always!
Cheers Stu!
As I look at the chaoa concept sketches, i can't help but think Rodney Matthews's art had to be an inspiration for some of this.
In the mcdeath game pack the models used for the knights were also sold as chaos knights.
The World needs more hornaments.
Not to mention the Warrior of Chaos character in Talisman!
You’re dead right! I thought that was later but it predates 3rd edition!
I've been enjoying these videos. An Eldar related video would be especially cool 👍
Thank you going to be a good video. As far as Chaos as a whole, we know the answer is Micheal Moorcock, at least the eight pointed star. Law was just a straight arrow pointing up btw.
Fantastic video, probably my favourite so far, apart from some of the more iconic interviews. Thank you!

That's a great point, Doc! I'd love to get better data on things like production volumes as well as materials. I enjoy your work, mate!
Can´t wait to see the video about Kaleb Dark!
Great video, loved that keep them coming!
Very interesting video! Amazing models!
Again a great research work, resulting in an awesome video
Cracking video. Thank you!
Ok … I’m excited…. I’m pretty sure you are going to say a few words that I love….
Elric
Michael Moorcock …
If I win lotto I'm patronising Jordan so he can make this stuff forever
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for us!
@@jordansorcery :D appreciate everything you do man
CHAOS RULES JORDILOOOOOVEEE!!!
My friend plans to join me in getting into The Old World by collecting Warriors of Chaos! 💜
kaleb darkk !! yesssss
I've read 1000s of pages of Moorcock and the Eternal Champion!
My favorite army by far! Also the easiest to paint for me with a little careful mini selection (I was terrible at faces, you see). And with influences like Moorcock and Frazetta, how could one go wrong?
Love this channel
Like this history channel
(Me again)
The dedication is wfb 2nd edition. All three books.
It reads
"Dedicated to
Phil barker, donald featherstone, michael moorcock,
Whose fault it all is".
Thanks
Thank you so much, Rodger!
Chaos Warriors are my favorite monsters, regardless of system. They're what led me to be interested in Warhammer.
They're great
Subtly mentioning you've been chatting to Space McQuirk there - foreshadowing a future interview?
I’d love to interview Space one day!
I love that "Warhammerian" sounds practically academic.
I am 100% here for an ep on Kaleb Daark 🤟
Spikey bits!
'Arry the 'Ammer...sorted
I will definitely check this auther ! What is his name again?
Michael Moorcock wrote the Eternal Champion series, Elric is a good starting place
Me again.
"He(elric) fought his way through the milling warriors of chaos".
Stormbringer. M. Moorcock. Published.
1965.
Surely it should be "adhornments"!
I can’t argue with this
Kaleb Daark is a funny way to spell Slambo
❤
Kaleb Daark, and the brothers are most longest sort after minis. So much so I've been tempted to sell my wizard with machine gun to put the funds into them instead..... one day, one day......
Excalibur 1981 and Black Angel 1980
16:57 Do you reckon Ungrim Ironfist is named for that writer?
Crack of desolation...🤣
Umm I have BA-21 Skeleton Guardsman of Chaos with axe. Am I going to be rich 🤑????
