Yashhh EXO 👑 they always bring something new to kpop. They can insert so many genres in one song especially Tempo. They put an acapella part and it's really amazing. Marz, the producer of Tempo once said (in his insta live) that other company called him and asked him to make song like Tempo to their group but Marz said he CAN'T because only EXO who can pull that genre off.
For sure! haha that doesn't surprise me! I've always thought they were serious innovators, pushing the boundaries and what not! I still remember when I first heard WOLF, blew my mind. Even tho the sounds are dated, the writing and concept are still really strong.
OMG OMG OMG Is EXO 👑!!!! the members of EXO are very talented, they are actors, composers, producers, vocals, dance very very well, especially they are very professional.
the genre of EXO is R & B, Dance pop, ballads, electronics and jpop. Apart from taking their songs in Korean, they also take them out in Chinese.

Love all the adlibs and harmonies in this song. I think that's what I love most in their songs, it's never just that one vocal melody up front... there's always adlibs and harmonies in the background filling up the track more. They could do away with them like many other groups, but they don't. They take more time recording to put those in and I think it's worth it. Plus, even if we say there was a demo track, I doubt the demo track contained all of those. It must be nice to produce something and be able to ask the person singing to do more and more because you know they are very capable, or to produce whatever you want because you know even if the song is challenging they can do it. So you'll always have an end product on par or above what you expected when you composed the song.

Tempo is a masterpiece...and only EXO can do this kind of music as Marz(the producer) said in his IG. I like how you breakdown and analyzed TEMPO as to a producer's pov❤️❤️❤️
Maybe you could also try to react to Wolf Remix live in Japan(if you haven't reacted to it yet)...the production really is in another level plus the interaction of the live screen to that of the live performers💕💕

tempo exo . was very very impressed!first, the choreography is on point with the dress up like funky or more like boy street , the camera angle was smooth and meaningful , the lyrics is strong also on point , the genre that they mix up going smoothly and a capella ... that’s make the songs going beastly harmony. unexpected breakdown ! is like u climbing up something like like a roller coaster . it really stealing the heart. the video is like story telling ... the glitch the cube are like questioning the girl is that love is real or cheat , when this guy telling someone else to don’t touch her girl because she is his “melody” which mean mine. and last the title .. “tempo” it’s.... wow . im 💀

@@AZODi i know! they have a diverse discography. i never hear the same type of song. they always try something new. since they started their mandatory military service, i don't think they'll be promoting much in the west.
@@nikki.exosnoona Ah fair enough, can't avoid that can they. I was told by my publisher they always seemed to do better with Japanese releases over Korean, maybe it is down to their sound being a bit more funky. I had MAGIC on repeat for ages! Loved it!
@@AZODi i love their japanese albums too! i feel that they're more focused promoting in Asia mostly in Japan because it's much closer to Korea. and i think they're lucky because their senior artists like Boa & TVXQ paved the way for kpop's popularity in Japan

After listening to this songs so many times, I'm really glad to discover new things, so thanks for reacting! The main thing we noticed when the song came out was the many rap lines and the fact that they were long and placed at the beginning and in the middle of the song. Usually EXO are known for their amazing vocals, and the rapping parts are usually left for the time around the bridge, if not the bridge itself.
Thanks Natalia, glad you enjoyed the video! Yeah thats a good point about the rapping. Most of their stuff (of what I've heard) mainly leaves the rap later BUT if you check out Wolf, its pretty rap focused. Wolf is super old tho lol but yeah, def more vox focused overall in their songs!

question for you: how does composing kpop songs allow for more/less artistic freedom compared to western pop?
Thanks Anita, few things! The main ones are to use interesting and colourful chords and progressions, its more open to jumping in and out of the songs key, certain instruments and sounds are more welcomed, there is a lot more crazy and innovation in the songs too. Those are a just a few things. As long as you get down the core fundamentals of the songwriting, its literally anything goes creativity wise.

A lot of it is a waiting game, luckily my publisher is very supportive and gets my songs in-front of the right people. Listen to Some Cut [Explicit Version] by Trillville, the bed squeak sounds like a slightly sped up version of the sample in that. Could just be a random bed squeak sample, but I think the timbre is close to the Trillville sample.

@@AZODi the thing is that exo is actually very global and big but we dont get any real promotion from their company as bts gets.exo is an 7years old group so mostly the companies focus on the younger groups and promote them. Exo has officaly over 4 Million fans worldwide ( and that are only the registerd one) So exo is very huge but since we are mostly adults by now and we have archieved so much legendary records ,we arent as eager to vote nor stream as others.
I think we have to wait a while for a new comeback because of the military entlistment. Xiumin is already there and kyungsoo follows him in July. But Kyungsoo will drop a solo track before he goes^^ and baekhyun gets a solo Album as well (soon) ^^ so I think there will more solo stuff for a while^^

Hey Norubi! Thanks for your comment. If you want to be a Kpop Producer, learn how to write songs, produce music, develop mixing and mastering skills and have a firm grasp of all pop music and knowledge on other genres, a great one to know especially is Jazz. I would suggest knowing music theory, some legal knowledge and basic marketing / networking skills! It will take time but if you really want it, you will get it!
