I've been searching for a mellow, beautiful rendition of this song on trumpet. I am really liking this take on it... no big over-the-top flourishments, no over-dramatization of the melody. He did a great job on his tone quality and adding vibrato when called for. Some songs should be left alone and done as they were written. This is a beautiful song and he performed it as I myself would like to... someday. Thanks, brattom, for posting it.

I remember Ron and Fred doing a duet to "Someone to Watch Over Me" at ITG 04. It was the first time I'd ever heard Ron solo without the rest of the Canadian Brass, and it just floored me.
He will always be remembered for playing with the Canadian Brass, but he has one of the most magnificent tones that I've ever heard and he probably doesn't get enough recognition for his solo abilities.

I never met Fred Mills, nor heard him play live. But Romm's phenomenal tribute still brought me to the brink of tears for the loss of this incredible man.

I am fortunate enough to hear the original lineup of the Canadian Brass live several times in the 1980s and 1990s. Their blend of superb musicianship, artistry and presentation was unique and introduced many into the classical music world.

Make sure to go see the current Canadian Brass sometime, they are just as incredible and keep the tradition alive very well!

This is the most beautiful version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" that I have ever heard. The only other trumpeter that could have matched the beauty of this performance was Fred Mills.
    Lovely!

love it... my niece plays piano and I play trumpet... we'd like to play this for our families... anybody have the arrangement (piano primarily) since the trumpet is pretty straight forward - albiet beautifully played.

My very good friend and I would like to duet for our senior showcase. After high school, we will be attending colleges in different states, so performing a duet together will be extremely special. We were wondering if you could respond with a link or something to that nature where we may be able to purchase this arrangement? This is the best arrangement we've heard, and it would be magical if we could play it together. Thank you.

Yeah I agree with the general feeling here ... it's a mature 'not about me but about the song' rendition ... better than Vizzutti in my opinion because he shows so much taste.
