Homelander: "I may be a egomanical monster, but even i draw the line at racism." I mean, in his mind there are only "weak humans" and then "gods" like himself afterall, there is no room for racism in that worldview.
The one redeeming aspect of Homelander is his absolute devotion to his son and the goal that his son not turn out like him. It's too bad there's absolutely so many negatives that override this that it's not enough to completely redeem him. But you can feel it in the scene with Ryan on the couch that he's trying to be a father that he never had to learn from.
You see, that's the thing. He's not a loving father. He just wants to control Ryan. Remember, at the end of the episode, he said, "he's mine." It's because he thinks he owns Ryan. He's a possession of homlander's
In the comics, (the male) Stormfront was taken down by a re-enactment of WW2, with Butcher, MM, Frenchie and Love Sausage (a Russian who barely made a cameo in the show) each representing one of the four allies, beating the German to death. And both Becca and the boy died in childbirth (kinda), so neither of them was around for Stormfront's end... or any of the story beyond a single flashback really.
@@AdmiralHawkes64the Soviet Union did officially join the allied powers towards the end of ww2 no one was happy about it but they felt it was necessary to end the war
for those curious as to what stormfront was saying in the forest, i took the liberty of translating it for you: "in the shadow of an apple tree..." "do you remember the day, frederick(?)? chloe held her hands out of the car window. we found the perfect place at that riverbank, in the shadow of an apple tree. it was the first time that chloe ate fresh apples" [drowned out by homelander and ryan] " never ends."
Another reason Homelander's PR speech at the end is so disturbing is it's really the only time we've seen him deadpan follow the script. He'll do little acting bits here and there, but he usually puts his own flare on it. This is the only time I can think of where he's just danced in lock-step to the pied piper.
A note about Stormfront getting Homelander to talk to Ryan instead of give him a little time and space... She prods his insecurities, his need to appear strong and flawless and masculine, "You are the strongest man in the world, and you're scared of a little boy".
Love the "Girls DO get it done" from Frenchie. Lmao. On the subject of parents... They're definitely not all worth the title of mom, dad, or parent in general. My own mom chose drugs over me and left me alone in a building that I was then pushed out of causing me to be paralyzed for life. Dad said he didn't want a crippled son so signed away his rights as a parent. After my coma my biological mother proceeded to constantly tell me that I couldn't walk because I wasn't praying for it hard enough or that it was my fault that her life was so fucked up (she was jailed and forced into rehab) because she never wanted a boy anyway. I wasn't even 2 years old yet when I went outta that window. Some people just shouldn't be parents. Ever.
They actually gave a big clue to the identity of the head popper in the first episode this season. After Raynor's head was popped one of The Boys said "Who can do this?" The next scene was Homelander walking into a conference room and AOC, I mean Newman, was giving a speech on the monitor in the room.
People will call cap on me saying this but with how the boys does their directing base don past season I noticed that too when it happened. They have done line lead ins like that before
One of my favorite details of this episode is when th scene starts with the Collective guy and Stan Edgar having a meeting, you can see some napkins and other things kick up as if they were hit by a gust of wind. That was A Train entering the room at super speed
The thing with zapping someone who absorbs electricity is that they usually have a limit. Be it total capacity, input rate, or both. And sometimes if you overcharge them enough, KRACKABATHWOOM!
It's easy to make a villain people can hate. It's harder to make a villain you can relate with. But the villains that people relate with are far scarier than the ones without humanity
the boys is the only piece of media that showed a diverse cast of asian, gay and woman beat up a nazi with the line of "girls get it done" right. it doesnt feel woke at all, the writing is just that good. love this series bruh
Fun fact: Bob Singer is also a character in Supernatural. With Soldierboy being Dean and a random fed being John, I wonder if Sam is also gonna appear some day
So if you go back to the senate hearing scene knowing who's doing it... you can see her looking around splatting people. When you first watch it you think it's a look of panicked horror... but if you rewatch you can see her popping heads like zits lol
I really love this episode because it’s the first time homelander loses. You can see him playing chess in his head as butcher walked away with his kid. What he did wrong and trying to see how he did it wrong. And why he is against a wall he can’t break. He’s so confused on how he just lost. That’s his first defeat.. and I freakin love it!
It was contrived. He could have killed them both, took Ryan, destroyed the evidence and threatened the other boys not to release it or else he will kill everyone they love. They wouldn't release it because they are not as crazy and suicidal as Maeve is. Also the fact Maeve was teleporting behind people everywhere even though she didn't know where they were was ridiculous and almost comical.
Fuck yeah The Boys season 2 finale! Stormfront gets a memetic kicking, Girls Do Get It Done, and all the tragedy. The show really is balls to the wall but doesn't treat its main cast as disposable for ratings. The reveal at the end is brilliant. I dont trust politicians so I wasn't too surprised at that. A great craic to see Alicia bamboozled like that though.
Weirdly, the welcome for Becca by the Boys reminded me of that time Nate's ex needed help from the gang on Leverage (good show for feel good fun) and Parker was already pulling together a self extraction kit.
Personally, I think there is no love and compassion in the relationship between Homelander and his son. Homelander grew up in a lab and has been property of Vought his whole life, so his son represents something that he never had: a semblance of control over his life.
I will be the one to say, I've never done that while saying: "I'm the Homelander and I can do whatever the f I want!" and also never felt especially powerful because of that To answer that question at the end. It's rude not to answer questions, so there
45:50 they used lot of blood , the guy who did the cgi said it on the corridor crew video .... There are 3 parts , if you want to check out but there might be some spoilers
If you rewatch the congress scene, Victoria looks at peoples heads exploding a split second before they do, then everyone else looks. She leads the crowd in looking around.
Wait i'm confused; when Stormfront is on her white genocide bullshit, Alicia said 'reverse racism', but wouldn't that just be... racism? As far as i know, racism as a concept is the same, irrespective of who it is pointed towards. Also fun fact: The actress that plays Stormfront (Aya Cash) is jewish and an absolute sweetheart in reality. Really interesting to see someone of jewish heritage play an old school nazi having to adapt to the modern neo-nazi way. Her superhero alias is also very on the nose, being based on the antisemitic, holocaust denying neo-nazi internet forum of the same name highlighting her change (Liberty -> Stormfront) from the old regime to the new world.
No. Its not the same. One thing is actually happening, and the other is a paranoid delusion ("white genocide"), made up to try to justify actual racism happening, actual systematic and individual racism happening. Its nowhere near the same. "American racism" isnt just person to person individual bigotry, it goes way deeper, from laws to how the country is setup ++++. The difference is so colossal that even attempting to compare "racism" happening against "white". vs racism happening against everyone else, is such a silly notion, like standing on a boat in the middle of the ocean, holding a glass of water, claiming that lil glass is the same thing as the ocean. Yes but absolutely fucking no xD
Random messed up thought: What if at some point Starlight's (Annie's) mom and Hughies dad end up hooking up. Both are single with spouses who have run off.
Now that you're moving on to season 3 you should definitely watch Generation V once you're done with that season before moving on to season 4. It may be a spin-off showing the point of view of some different characters but at 100% ties into the main story and leads into season 4. That's all I'll say about that though just make sure you don't miss out on it before season 4 comes out
dont think Alicia got the active shooter vibe of the Active Supervillian drills they had. this is basically a real thing that happens in america already. we literally have drills for this shit already.
