    Why exactly is all of this necessary? You mean to tell me I have to study up on the history of the church in order to arrive at the conclusion that God intended? Is God interested in who’s more intelligent and willing to devote a large chunk of their life to studying church tradition? Was God unwilling or unable to preserve his word (the Bible)?
    If the Bible we have today IS Gods true word, then why not just simple accept it as it? Why do we need all this extra stuff that the Roman Catholic and orthodox churches insist we do?

      No you don’t have to be some expert theologian to be saved but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a historical church with authority passed down to it from Christ. These denominations are leading people away from truth and life. The church is the body of Christ and leads men to salvation. The Bible teaches about the church and you wouldn’t have the Bible without the church. The contents of the Bible are a matter of church tradition and were decided by church councils.

      @@MultiSpeedMetal “the church is the body of Christ and leads men to salvation”
      This cannot be further from the truth. The church plays absolutely no roll in your personal salvation. You are saved by what Jesus did on the cross. Salvation is a gift from God, it’s not something your priest can offer you.
      “You wouldn’t have the Bible without the church”
      This is looking at things completely backwards. What you mean to say is, you wouldn’t have the church without Gods word. Gods word is eternal. It has existed long before the first human being was formed. Stop giving so much authority to man and start giving the authority to its rightful owner which is God. Sure, God used men as his vessels to bring about his eternal word into a written form on paper so we can read and study it but God is not reliant on us for anything. He simply chose us to carry out a task.
      “The contents of the Bible are a matter of church tradition and were decided by church councils”
      Wrong again! The contents of Gods word were decided by the Holy Spirit prior to the formation of the councils. Before the councils even got together, Gods word was decided. It just wasn’t revealed to us yet. You are thinking to narrowly here.

      @@doublev1454 The church is God's agent in the world. You call them mere men but they are men guided by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Scriptures were revealed through the church. You think the apostles dead but they are alive in the spirit and in the body of Christ which is the church. You forget that before the print and press the only way to hear the Gospels was through the church. There weren't Bibles lying around everywhere.
      Before church councils, there were many competing biblical canons.
      The Bible plainly explains how the apostles were given authority which was passed down to their successors in the churches they established and even talks about how their lampstands can be removed. Paul writes to churches to excommunicate heretics who refuse correction on church dogmas. Paul explains that they have a role as spiritual fathers to bring the word to the people. This is the work of the apostles and the church.

      @@MultiSpeedMetal All believers are in dwelt with the Holy Spirit. And I think you are misunderstanding the argument for sola scriptura. Nobody is saying the church wasn’t involved and necessary. We are simply saying that only things which do not contradict something in scripture should be practiced by the church. For instance, praying to the dead is going against Gods word. So don’t do it even if a member of your church tells you to.
      The idea of there having been multiple competing canons is actually not true. Early Christians Had already agreed on a cannon before any council was even formed.

    • @MultiSpeedMetal
      @MultiSpeedMetal 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@doublev1454What is a believer? James points out simply saying you believe Jesus is God is not enough because don't demons also believe and tremble? And that he shows his faith by his works which includes going to church and participating in the sacraments.
      If you are referring to prayers of intercession to saints, they are not dead in the spirit actively participating in the heavenly liturgy and the book of revelation clearly shows the practice in revelation 8.
      We can read church fathers who include texts like the book of Thomas and other non-canon texts. There were deviations in different communities why do you think a council had to deal with this to begin with? And the council was binding.
