makes sense that the city was submerged. during the ice age, the amount of water that was on land in the form of glaciers was immense. when all that ice melted and returned to the ocean, the sea levels would have risen dramatically, sinking all coastal towns and cities. people have a tendency to build near the coast so when the waters would rise, many sites like that one would be dropped deep under the waves.
Water is a nope for me, everything looks so Lovecraft/alien underwater.

Following deep sea horror theme, I would recommend NINGEN series by Mister Manticore. It is a documentary-like analog horror series about ningen creature.

the 80% unexplored part is partially true but also doesn’t reflect the true state completely: a lot of ocean is just ecological fead zones (nothing really is there) or undiscovered species are mostly very small things.
because large animals leave behind a lot of traces.
reason e.g. we know things like giant squids exist despite not recording a live one.
so its pretty safe to assume most undiscovered stuff is just small stuff and not giant sea monsters
Just scrolled the comments to see if anyone already said it. 80% of the ocean isn’t explored not because we don’t have the means but because there is nothing significant to find.
