I remember having a book that had it depicted as like a giant danger chicken.
Komodos are legitimate beasts, their venom is a natural blood thinner, meaning a bite can see you dropping to blood loss. That's not even counting the infections you could get from it.
I’m so glad you like lizards so much. I’d love a reptile pet, but I have the same worries that you do. I don’t want to take in an animal that I’m not sure I can take care of.
My 4th grade teacher had a bunch of critters (lizards, fish, crabs, amphibians)in the classroom, including an iguana named Spike, we were given the choice to volunteer to individually or as a team to take care of them in class. She'd let us take them home for the weekend if our parents gave the ok. It was a pretty good way to teach kids responsibility now that I think about it.

Had a Goanna (Monitor Lizard) steal a mates sock while we were swimming in the creek. The cheeky bugger ran up a nearby tree and slowly gulped it down while staring us in the eye

Using the left/right arrow keys, at least on TH-cam, you are able to rewind/fast-forward by five seconds respectively. Additionally, using the J/L keys, you can rewind/fast-forward by ten seconds respectively
Friend of mine and his girlfirend once tried to rehabilitate a abused iguana. The tailwhip from it could flay skin from your arms. Sadley they could not rehabilitate it QQ .
My cat is also very fond of lizards. He'll just sit there on the porch playing Red Light, Green Light with one all afternoon.

Dude forgot to mention the 5th remaining category of reptiles today (7 if you count birds and mammals whi are descended from different reptile branches). The tuatara may look like a lizard, but is not one.
7:45 That's not necessarily true. Leopard Geckos are some of the easiest pets to take care of. Any other gecko species though will be at least a bit of a challenge to keep

Interestingly, the fact that Basilisk Lizards are able to run across water is the reason why they are alternately known as the Jesus Christ Lizard. And yes, that is a legitimate alternate name for them.

Could NOT agree more with the placement of Monitor Lizards, and especially Komodo Dragons, in S-Tier. And much like how the Shark Tier List had the Great White in S-Tier, and Megalodon in God Tier, Lizards have a similar scenario: They have Komodo Dragons in S-Tier, and their prehistoric relative, Megalania, in God Tier.

Here's a fun fact the gila monster is the only venomous lizard thats native in North America. A quick edit because I think he left out the horny toad... this tier list is now 0 out of 10. Now you're saying but egg it's a lizard list not amphibian list but you're wrong because they're lizards even if we call them toads.

The more realistic, non-radiation-mutated (I mean, all evolutions are mutations, technically), non-atomic-breathe-exhaling, water-based version of it, if you are really serious about the more scientific side of r/Outside. Yeah, claim it as "lame". but if it were to survive until today, imagine the fear all the boatmen and sailors are facing around the world, just to travel on the oceans of the planet. S-Tier for sure, in our time.

You grew up in a generation where kids worried about the morality of keeping an animal because of THEIR lives. I'm 50. I grew up when lots of mammals, reptiles and birds were cheap to buy and the morality of keeping them was virtually nonexistent. I grew up poor, as well, but I still had a fair number of pet deaths on my conscience before graduating high school.
