All generational talents, regardless of what sport they compete in, face harsh criticism during their rookie season. Tiger Woods, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Caitlin Clark, etc. The media is largely to blame for this because these types of talents only show up once a decade, or so; and when they do show up, the hype is non-stop, and the expectations heaped upon the rookie's shoulders are enormous. The huge salaries and signing bonuses, in Tiger Woods's case, the then revolutionary, long-term endorsement deal with Nike, generate a lot of jealousy, envy, and bitterness.
Since he voiced his views, the UConn coach is both correct and incorrect. Most of the other coaches and players would like nothing more than to see Caitlin Clark suffer a career ending injury and never set foot on a basketball court again. In this, he is spot on in assessing that Clark was being set up to fail. Notwithstanding that assessment, Caitlin Clark's performances have illustrated clearly that she possesses a degree of on court awareness that rivals a Grandmaster in chess. In a sense, basketball is a dynamic, free-form, fast paced form of athletic chess. The best players, such as Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, and Caitlin Clark are seeing things play out on the basketball court 4 and 5 moves ahead of the events actually taking place. You either have that ability or you don't. Caitlin Clark has it in spades, and most of her teammates and competitors don't.
CC has fundamentals that 80% of this league does not have. She passes the ball to the open man / woman. MJ did the same.

One of the best coaches ever doesn't have a clue. The pro game isn't any different than the college game. Truth is... woman, for the most part, are not that athletic. CC is doing just fine. Like most people thought she would.

Geno is cracked. He is not knowledgeable and he is stupid. Reality has been good to CC. Her skills are above and she is fast and she has arrived. He has to say that because he passed on her. Also pretty good rookies. They are breaking records every time they play. CC broke DT record and the record from 1998. I’d say she is is pretty tops sd far as rookies go. As far as fans…they know what they like and it is exciting.
Geno is just sour grapes because Caitlin didn’t play for him in Connecticut.
While she has an adjustment period, she will have a great second half of the season. Look for the Fever to be in the playoffs. This dude is jealous she is not on his team. She is so much.more than just a shooter. I am.expecting her to.lead the league in assists as her team mates adjust to.her style of play
