To me, the WNBA is where the NBA was in 1979. It was a lot more parochial, the popularity was relatively low, and even the NBA Finals was on tape delay. Then, two guys named Larry Joe Bird and Ervin "Magic" Johnson got drafted. And they brought excitement to the NBA and made it national. This is a great take. The media is what got me curious about Caitlin after announcing she broke Maravich's all-time record. So I watched the WV game to see what the hype was all about. She hits her first 3. Then she hits another shot. Then she throws a dart for an assist. I'm like the hype is real!!! It is really fun watching her play and I haven't missed a game.
The thing is with charters, and sellouts, the exposure, and everything she's bringing to the W, it exposes us to other great W players too. For example I like Reese's game, I like Thomas and Bonner from CT, I like Stewart from NY, and Jewell from Seattle. I even put on the LV vs LA game and saw these 2 great players named Plumb and Hamby and rookie Brink. Players and a league I would never bother to watch before.
So it's not like oh they all should be thanking her but just be aware of the impact and perks and don't be hating. Some will say oh she needs to pay her dues first and yeah many rooks do go through the tough stuff. That's what people were saying about Sean McVay too. Oh he's young he needs to pay his dues before winning a SB. No one is calling her the goat in the W yet, we just love her game. Passing, 3s, court smarts, competitiveness, humble, all in one.
And for others to say a few players are trying to hurt her, no they aren't. They would be stupid to hurt their meal ticket. It's kind of an initiation. They're like let's apply some pressure and physicality to throw her game off. We're playing hard to win, plus we don't want her bombing 3s on us or getting her team going. 🏀Go WNBA!!🏀

Loved him, Steph, Kevin (et al) in the Olympics, how fun was that? I hope Caitlin has this heartfelt brilliant advice on repeat.
I’m far more a baseball fan, & don’t totally get the animosity stuff, but when the love is there it’s obviously really real.
It’s very bad that WNBA didn’t get the money & support they deserved til now (still not enough obvs, but improving).
So, it’s a bit of a tough transition, especially when a new exciting star is white. I’m sure it feels unfair in many ways truly, should be based entirely on merit, But dammit sports is all still a show, and requires a paying audience. None of that is Caitlin’s fault. Just doing her best, which is utterly amazing. LeBron is so right about the blinders.
Hoping we all get over the transition more peaceably, enjoy the fun, and the WNBA overall continues to fly charter & get all the perks they deserve, and honestly must have, to play top tier sport.

Old school, but Shawn Kemp had the best attitude I’ve seen as a rookie. He kept his head down. Said almost nothing to reporters. And learned everything he could from the vets around him like Nate McMillan and Gary Payton. Loved the Super Sonics!!

What are you talking about? Kemp was drafted a year before Gary. Gary was no vet... Nate was like 25 -26 not exactly a seasoned vet or an important player on the Sonics team. Kemp was 18 yo and change at the time and wasn't even close to being high profiled as a rookie he was picked 17th as a highschool kid with a super athletic body. Like the Giannis pick in 2013.

I promise you there is 0 hatred towards CC, it's the media who we're having an issue with. Caitlin just wanna hoop fr, she don't even care about the media attention. Her team 0-5, she frustrated about that, she wanna win games lmao. But y'all are so concerned about her feelings, it's weird. And if she truly is the reason that things are gonna happen to the WNBA, then there's a deeper fundamental problem that needs to be addressed. Because Sabrina Ionescu was the last "Caitlin Clark" that we saw, and I don't even wanna say it like that because that's disrespectful to Sabrina. Sabrina for those who don't know, is the all time NCAA D1 leader in triple doubles, all time Pac-12 conference leader in assists, and the only player in NCAA basketball history with 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, and 1,000 assists. So she also had crazy hype coming out of college, unanimous #1 pick, Nike signature athlete, and arguably got the best signature shoe in the game right now, and she's only 26! It's not like she played ages ago, she's still cooking in the league rn. Kelsey Plum (still in the league) who held the NCAA career scoring record before CC, but she still holds the NCAA single season scoring record, oh and btw a back to back WNBA champion. Breanna Stewart (still in the league) 4 chips in 4 years at UCONN, 2 WNBA championships, and an MVP and she's not even 30 yet. I named these 3 specifically because they also aren't black, to refute the argument that because CC is a white girl that's why they're giving her all this attention, nahh I don't think it's that. But I definitely could've named A'ja Wilson, Jackie Young (the highest paid player in the WNBA), Skylar Diggins, the list literally goes on. Y'all in the media are the problem. The Indiana Fever played the Seattle Storm last night, and in the highlights on ESPN, they're showing ONLY CC's highlights. She had like 20 in a loss. That's cool and all, that's a solid game from any rookie. But oh yeah, they forgot to mention on the other side, Jewell Lloyd had 32, 11, and 6 in a WIN....I feel like there should be more talking about that rather than CC's stats in a loss. And for all the people saying well Caitlin still dropped 20... individual stats are cool for a short period of time, but it really don't even matter unless you win. Ask Donovan Mitchell. Bro literally had 40-50 pts in multiple games this season, but the Cavs still lost and now he on the couch watching the Conference Finals wit everybody else. So what good did that do him fr.

You fail to understand that WNBA is an entertainment company. All those players you mentioned before Caitlin Clark obviously didn’t entertain the fans! So you can write an encyclopedia of how great these WNBA players are, at the end of the day they suck because no one paid to watch them! All it took was a video of Caitlin Clark in the airport and WNBA got charter flights. At least wait til the white girl get everyone paid and then hate of her, but hate on her now!!??

@@redmoney4155 but you see what you said..Bird AND Magic. Not just Bird, not just Magic. There's plenty of players they can choose to market just as much as Caitlin, that's our point. Seems like a smart business move to me.

The most underrated part of Lebron's is his mindset. He wasn't the top 5% scorer. He was top 10% maybe. But he was keeping his body in great shape, finding a great manager who put every time into a new team, when the old one collapsed. He stopped defending so much after Miami and avoided a lot of injuries. He started to pass more and stopped running to the rim so much (avoiding blocks). Always position himself first for counterattack, because it's easy points. Probably the smartest player ever Now he is forcing the trades, the moves, and drafting his son. Probably he couldn't do it in Miami to the Grandfather. But anyway, he is successful, even without winning championships.

    • @BCNick22

He was comparing the animosity... Like shown above ^ (bronny obv not on same level as CC coming out of college but he has the burden of being LBJ's son and with that comes TONS of media attention.
I don't feel sorry for Bronny, the added attention is objectively a blessing and a curse tho. Will he get more opportunities? Yes. However if he gets absolutely torched in the league he will be headline news. So while there definitely are "benefits" of being LeBron son, there is also a lot of extra pressure he is facing that nobody else can relate to.
Bottom line is his Dad can't play for him so if he isn't good enough he will be exposed quickly, and I doubt he wanna ride the bench like Giannis brother cuz that would be humiliating

Are people really bashing Bronny like that? All I've read and heard is how LeBron hyped and talked him up, Bronny had a tough year and Lebron got mad his son was being talked about in mock drafts as needing more development or whatever the case be and got offended or upset and blamed everyone else for the hype. All I've ever said is no other kid in America with them stats would have been a 4 or 5 star prospect and no chance a team would draft him right now. That's not hating on the kid. I feel the pressure to please his dad is the reason he is entering the league. Lots of dudes need the cash, he doesn't. He seems like a great kid and I hope he succeeds.
