Who makes the Essex Piano for Steinway?

    So Pearl River makes Essex and Kawai makes Boston. And what is a good piano? The piano you like to play (sound and action) AND the stability of the instrument in varying temperature and humidity. The latter to be experienced well after the purchase of the instrument ...

    I like the looks of Continental design upright pianos. I can't find any pictures of Steinway's Essex Continental from the Young Chang Period. The one they have now from Pearl River is VERY DISTINCTIVE, very modern looking. I'm not sure if it could be called "Art Deco" where as their current Empire model does evoke a bit of that. Do you know if they changed the Continental version's design from the Young Chang made ones to the ones they are currently selling now, made by Pearl River. It certainly is the the most "Distinctive" looking continental on the market. I haven't seen any other manufacturer's Continental design deviate from the standard as much. I'm not saying it's bad, just that it really stands out from the rest based on its lines.
