I have nothing against the guy but I know know why he relies so heavily on auto tune and it's kinda sad, that you don't have to be able to sing anymore these days to be a singer, lol.

This is something that every singer has to do. He's also not getting any help from the mix. He's basically singing into the room with zero delay or reverb. The mix is just there to pick up the sound. This is a great performance relative to his exhaustion. He makes it an emotional delivery. It's so easy to troll touring artists and find clips that aren't optimal when almost everything they do is filmed. Get some perspective on how live performance works. If he had a mix with all the effects they use in the studio, you wouldn't even notice a difference.

I feel like he shouldve sang it in a lower key. He seems to be straining a bit for those high notes sometimes.
He can't sing without his pitch correct effect on his voice (aka auto tune) thats the reason. Basically he's just not a good singer.
