JX1 is a bit strange but I got a lot of mileage out of it. It's just a simple rompler synth with a selection of good usable sounds (64 in total, you can have your edited version saved, and there is the layering). The sounds are derived from their current offering (meaning the JD800/JV1080/D70) and are quality wise on par with anything Roland released. You will find a very good version of the Fairlight ARR sound in the JX1. Along with the typical strings, horns, pianos, and organs (including that house-music organ).
There are 4 monophonic lead sounds on there. Highly standard sounds, but still usable. The keybed on mine was better than it appears in your video. I actually found it highly enjoyable to play lead stuff on it. There were two things I missed on this: 1) volume pedal input (but there is sustain), 2) those 4 sliders having the ability to send out midi.

I had one. Impossible to prop up on stage when the other band is on

Omg im sure - and it’s so flimsy that one drop and it’s probably broken.

It’s ok for sure. The sounds are all good and as a first synth it’s ok. It just isn’t built very well. That’s my only real complaint. More synthesis options would be good too.

Paul van Dyk created the biggest anthem in Trance music on this. #foranangel ☺️

One of the few interesting things about it is the design wasn't like the typical d50 or d-70 at the time the lack of an LCD screen is definitely different from most synths

The keyboard is very crappy. I had one but at one point it broke when moving to a different flat and I threw it away.

@mudi2000a I think I just broke this one… build quality is terrible
