I didn't know the Queen did this song. I love her version after hearing it once. I have need to compare it to Dionne's because both are sublime. Thanks for sharing!
don't think she could only sing soul..Aretha had a 100 year voice. close your eyes and imagine her belting out a good rock tune or other. she could of been the queen of any music genre. she passed 8-16-18 and I miss her so. brought so many memories to me and others..love you Ms Franklin forevermore
Would've loved to see her do a live performance of this. Her live improv always are impressive. Also I think an arrangement like Florence Ballard's Walk On By version would've fit Aretha really well.
I was pretty young when this came out and a big Dionne Warwick fan. This is early Aretha when she was doing covers of songs on Capital Records. Always felt guilty liking this one better, like I was betraying Dionne! 😬
@@electionevie2693 1964, on her last album with Columbia, "Runnin' Out of Fools". Dionne's original was released in April 1964. Aretha's album was mostly covers of other folks' songs, but "Runnin' Out of Fools" was her one hit from it.
I was a toddler but we had the Queen playing in the house all the time. I think I was singing her songs before I learned how to walk and talk. Love you Queen Aretha forever. Rest In Heavenly Peace. ❤️💐💐💐
My two favorites of aretha are two lesser known songs My Way and What a Difference 🥰, btw theres a video of Aretha and Dionne singing together, all i could say is it took courage to stand on stage with Aretha in her prime 😶😶
I know this song was covered by thousands of musical acts and is probably the most covered song of all times. It was chosen as the 70th best song of all times by the magazine "Rolling Stone". I would put in the first or second place.

Imagine owning an original Vincent Van Gogh painting and hanging it in your laundry room. That's kind of like what Columbia did with Aretha, though some of the recordings were brilliant regardless (I'd say this is a great uptown soul recording). By 1964, Southern soul was definitely a thing, Otis Redding and other deep soul singers were making waves, and Columbia was still sending Aretha into orchestral sessions and hoping she could cross over like Nancy Wilson. I'm sure it made a certain amount of sense in the marketplace of 1964, because the mainstream pop market was bigger than the R&B market. But in the long run, Columbia would have sold about 100x more Aretha Franklin records if they had understood her gifts a little better.
Like no other? The only Bacharach cover she ever had any success with is "I Say A Little Prayer". Otherwise, Dionne owns the Bacharach compositions "like no other".
I bet you feel all alone. I know that feeling. When my best friend died, i cried soooo much my eyes were swollen for his funeral that i had to wear shades.
Dionne Warwick OWNS this track. Not even Aretha can come close. I say a little prayer is an exception, both artists produced extraordinary versions of that song.
0:13 that "walk on by" is my absolute fav part of the song.
Voice of an angel! Clear, raw, pure!!!

This song shows exactly why she is known as Queen of Soul.
Yes it is true her physical looks gives the prove

I think she's playiing piano on this cut too.
La reine de la soul ❤❤❤❤
Dionne’s version is much better
Maybe for others, but not for this...this is Dionne's song and nobody else's!
💛 Dionne & Aretha versions.
RIP Queen Aretha!
Both versions - background vocals by Dee Dee Warwick
I've always loved this version. So much feeling. She knows exactly what she's singing about. No playing around!
Divinely inspired and performed by the one and only Aretha Franklin.
I love all Aretha songs and miss her very much 💞💞💗💗

I love the original by Dionne, I even love Issac Hayes version and a few others but this by far is my favorite rendition.❤️
Wow, she can sing anything 🎵🎶🎼🎧🎙️📸.
Many princesses will come and go. The QUEEN, Ms. Aretha Franklin, will remain the queen.
Ms Aretha may not have had the best voice but she sure could interpret a song and translate the meaning the writer was trying to convey
Soul music should be the music style of 21st century. We can all use it now!
She was sososo sososo sososo sososo sososo sososo sososo bless

Ms. Aretha Franklin one in a million. Just a few grace us and she did with her talent.
Excellent version from the Queen of soul.

I think every song I've heard Aretha cover to me I always like her versions better than the originals.
First time hearing this rendition.
This is not the The Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin.
Me too. After all these years!!!!
@@vernonmoses2417 , Yes this is Aretha during her time with Columbia records before she signed with Atlantic records.
Amazingly, I love Dionne Warwick music, but when Aretha covers a song, she simply owns it!
nope. Dionne Warwick's version is way better.
No auto tune here, my friends. Just unadulterated talent.
Amazingly beautiful 🤩❤️

aretha franklin detto questo detto tutto DIVINA Boris
Best version of this great song, and I've heard plenty of singers sing this song, but Aretha does it the best.
This is Dionne's song. Burt Bacharach wrote it specifically for her vocal capability.
A Lady of character.. it's drive you to the edge of voice who put you to download and higher grade..ain't no limit

I never knew Queen Aretha covered this song. She def did her thing.
This one of my favorite songs from her it’s so relaxing
It makes me sad when I can think about past relationships 😅
She and Dionne talking about the Vietnam War
From Africa with love

You can hear Dee Dee Warwick prominently in the backing vocals -- I love both Aretha's and Dionne's versions of this song
warwick's is much the superior
@@davidmoran5431 this is true, Dionne's version is perfect.
interesting, ty; never knew that, and never knew DW had a singing younger sister
