  • After a slightly longer wait than expected here's another new guitar video!
Why Don't We Do It In The Road was recorded on the 9th and 10th October 1968, with an initial 5 takes recorded on October 9th and subsequent overdubs on October 10th (Including Ringo on Drums)
This song is, for the most part - excluding Ringo- a McCartney solo recording, as all of the instruments, bar the drums, were recorded by Paul.
On the 10th October Paul returned to the studio to add overdubs to the recording previously made the day before. These overdubs consisted of Handclaps, Vocals, Piano, Bass and Lead Guitar.
    - The Lead guitar part was recorded inside the Studio II control room, Direct Injection into the EMI soundboard. The Guitar used for this was an Epiphone Casino.
Buried beneath the final mix of the song, far in the right channel, is a very soft and subtle Acoustic Guitar Part. It is most prominently heard in the intro of the song, in the for of percussive slaps agains the area between the bridge and pick guard. The acoustic part soon drops out, only to return in the second verse of the song. (To hear the buried guitar part in full, it can be heard throughout the entirety of Take 5 of the song)
This is likely due to the use of Take 5's vocals during the second verse, which is accompanied by the Overdubbed Oct. 10th Vocals.
    - Paul is most likely to have used his Martin D-28 Acoustic Guitar for the recording of Take 5. The playing is very percussive and quite Blues-y, played finger-style with Thumb and Index finger.
    - 0:00 - The song begins with McCartney tapping against the area between the Pickguard and the Bridge.
    - 0:25 - Paul glissandos into a blues-y finger-style Arpeggio, played on his 61' Epiphone Casino, with a thick bottom end, and quite low high end.
    - 0:35 - Paul plucks a lower D7 Arpeggio (This time played on the lower end of the fretboard)
    - 0:41 - Pauls Acoustic from Take Five returns, tuned a whole tone down from standard pitch (D). The part is played finger-style, with the 2 low notes (D, G) plucked with the thumb, and the chord played percussively with the Index finger.
    - 0:56 - Paul returns to the higher D7 Arpeggio (Played on the 11th Fret)
    - 1:07 - Paul returns to the lower D7 Arpeggio
    - 1:09 - The Take Five Acoustic Guitar plays an unexpected A7 Chord, which can be heard in full glory on the full version of Take Five of the song.
    - 1:12 - Paul glissandos upward to the higher Arpeggio once again.
    - 1:29 - Paul glissandos down from the higher Arpeggio down do the lower Arpeggio one final time
    - 1:34 - Paul glissandos a held C# note down to and F Arpeggio on the Electric, and a short G7 stab on the Acoustic.
-1:37 - Paul ends with a glissando up from a B to a D, strummed with his thumb on the Electric, and a quick D chord stab once again on his Acoustic, ending the song.

Did you actually string up your guitars backwards for this?

Did they actually do this in the recording? 😅 was it like for Paul with a right handed guitar?

Yeah but if that's the case he's playing a leftie casino strung backwards, hence my initial question @@fb1767

Nice but needs alot of work' something missing, like trying to play too mechanical without any feel and poor tone.
