I retired at age 53, so I am in my early 60s. Many of them resisted me because they couldn't understand the idea of not working if it wasn't necessary. I considered the phases of my life. I worked very hard to achieve what I have now, but in my last years, I owe it to myself to "stop and smell the roses." In my instance, I departed the nation after retiring and currently reside in Latin America. It made it possible for me to appreciate my new surroundings while escaping all the bad things that were going on in America. Nobody that I know of regrets retiring has done so.
A pleasant way to wind down. In my opinion, those who are retired and find it difficult to support themselves are the ones who were unable to save enough money when they were working. Numerous factors are determined by retirement decisions. My spouse and I both worked in the civil service for the same amount of years; I saved through my 401(k) and she through a wealth manager. Even when we retired, we were both still earning.
That's correct, I retired at age 55 as a millionaire thanks to investments I made with the assistance of an advisor. To be honest, if not for the COVID-19 lockout, I never would have added stocks and other alternative investments to my income. I always look for the good in everything.
I've been putting off doing this for a while, even though I think I should. Since you appear to have everything figured out with the firm you work with, I wouldn't mind a recommendation, but I'm not really sure which firm to deal with because I think they're all the same.
I definitely share your sentiment about these firms. Finding financial advisors like *Layan Talia Chokr* who can assist you on things like investing, insurance, making sure retirement is well funded, going over tax benefits, ways to have a volatility buffer for investment risk would be a very creative option. There will be difficult times ahead, and prudent personal money management will be essential to navigating them.
Layan gives off the impression of being a very powerful person in her field. I sought her up online and discovered her website, which I browsed and studied to find out more about her career history, qualifications, and educational background. She owes it to me to look out for my best interests. Thank you for sharing; I arranged a session with her and sent her an email stating my goals.
Congrats on 100 guys I appreciate you both
As a 22 year old in corporate America, we still have to use fax machines lol
Especially in healthcare since fax is more HIPPA compliant than email.
Well, America was built on the back of horses, but Germany's backbone until this very day is the fax machine (and actually it comes in handy every 5 years or so)
18 months after they opened their Roth IRA, we discovered our daughter & her husband had NOT invested their accounts. Although they were disappointed to lose out over those months, we were all glad 20 years hadn’t gone by before we discovered the oversight. This is a common “oopsy-daisy”
Thanks to you Rachael. Following your recommendation, I started researching into Abby Joseph Cohen Services. Thankfully it was a little over a year ago now, I started an lnvestment with Abby's Services and that allowed me to be on much MUCH more stable ground in the face of global financial upheaval.
So thank you, your channel, and your employees. For what it's worth, it made a difference for me and my little family.
Same here, I got to know about Abby Joseph Cohen Services on here in 2020. Since then I've paid off 160,000 USD of debt. Now I'm working on building an emergency fund. I didn't even have a savings account three years ago.
How can i reach this abby Joseph Cohen, if you don't mind me asking?
I know this FA, Abby Joseph Cohen Services but only by her reputation of being a former employee at Goldman Sachs; even though she's now involved in managing portfolios and providing investmnt guidance to clients. I have been trying to get in contact since I watched her interview on WSJ last month
@@SahlMeyers
Well her name is 'ABBY JOSEPH COHEN SERVICES'. Just research the name. You'd find necessary details to work with a correspondence to set up an appointment.
Abby Joseph Cohen Services has really set the standard for others to follow, we love her here in Canada 🇨🇦 as she has been really helpful and changed lots of life's
I've been listening for many months now and this was the first time I'd heard that you should count ½ of a pension investment percentage when calculating your 15%. Super helpful!
100th episodes like this don't come along very often, I would want it again and again.
Go even further back, and think of the original Parent Trap, the best one in my opinion! 😂No fax's there, they wrote letters! 💌
They sent a telegram. Imagine that! 😂
Food Brackets! sounds like an awesome episode
Don’t get me wrong, I love this podcast, BUT… it seems like it has become a lot of finding different (and trendy) ways to define financial terms. It would be nice to see some more fun episodes🤷🏻♀️ One idea I thought would be cool is: what are some of your life goals (career/entrepreneur type goals) and how to work your way there on the financial side of things (also, giving examples of different well-known successful people and how they did it - mid-level people, not like Steve Jobs lol. I’m talking Floret level or other small companies that have done well). If possible, what are some things I need to know about finances for a business? A random question is how much does money play into getting your dream job? (My dream is to become a movie director💕) Just an idea; I hope you read this! I’ve been here since the first episode, and I still love to watch your show, but it seems to be one message being dished differently the past few months. I’d love to stick to it though, and I hope there’s more variety soon!
Yes about the bracket idea!
Rachel’s got a beautiful summer glow.
But what about the Summer of George?
Congrats on 100 episodes!
Hilarious that Rachael is talking about the remake of the Parent Trap as if it was ancient. In the same scene in the original Parent Trap 5:06 they actually made a phone call.
In the Hayley Mills version , she sent a telegram to her sister, too! 😂
"ninjas of the genius world." LOLOL
Happy 100 🎉🎉🎉 always watch and learn from your podcasts 🇨🇦👏♥️
HSA is the best account to invest in. Tax deduction on the front end. Tax-free distributions on medical expenses.
Agree, more people should take advantage of their HSA as an investment tool
But only for medical expenses?
@@mirandawalker6600 Only tax-free withdrawals for medical expense. But this can include nursing homes, sunscreen, over-the-counter medications, etc. And it can also act as a traditional retirement account at age 65.
Congratulations on your 100th🎉
Happy 100th! Cheers!
Yes! Americana restaurant brackets would be so fun!
Congrats on 100 episode. I love this pod cast! I learn and I laugh at each topic and Rachel and George make it fun with their banter and snark.
Thank you, George, for the reference to the O’Reilly Auto Parts jingle. I do the same with anything that starts with “O”. You are my tribe. 😂 (insert the high”ow”from the end of the jingle here)
Chili’s over Texas Roadhouse is blasphemy 😂
Rach is witty today!
Thanks guys. I had no idea the money i put into my roth wasn't actually invented rn. You guys just saved me a huge headache later
Happy 100th episode!! 👏 ❤ love y’all
Just started watching SMHH last week and I'm pretty sure I'm all caught up...haha! I love you guys!
Happy 100th episode, here's to 100 more!
Awesome. 100 episodes!!! 🎉🎉. Great job. ❤
I love you guys, but damg it George - that Charlie's commercial tagline is the same one for an O'Reilly's auto store near me, and now its all i can think of 😂
Happy 100th episode!
Social worker here and still use a fax machine
For sure!!! lol
I will give Rachel grace for choosing Chilis over Texas Roadhouse since she’s from Tennessee. Besides all my exes live in Texas and that’s why I hang my hat in Tennessee.
Congrats on 100th 🎉 and Lindsay: I can ~ 😂
While fun, adding the silly other words to the game made this a video I can’t share with folks who need it because it really didn’t help. The Money Guy has episodes that break things down more practically
getting into Investing to create a passive income should be every wise man priority...i made my first million from having a diversified portfolio that spread across stocks, grade bonds, coins and etfs also with the help of a full service broker handling my portfolio. smart investing is key
The stock market controls a huge part of my passive income portfolio, I invest big and my profits come even bigger
do you by chance do referrals on your broker ? i would like to build my portfolio long term.

100 episodes already?! 🎉 Man time flies!!
Compound interest applies to loaning money not equity investments
Happy 100th❤
Happy 100 episodes!!! All time favorite podcast
Yes!! Love the restaurant bracket idea!! That would be a great episode!!😁
I love the parent trap! We still use fax machines!
Happy 100! 🥳 You guys should try a Fun Dip drink! It *might* be up George’s alley
How is long-term investing in index funds a no-no but picking your own grown/stable/etc stocks is good?
Congrats, love this podcast❤
Have you ever considered Pit as a sponsor? It's a great card game with a bell and Bears/Bulls and commodities. I haven't heard much about it lately and it's right up the Ramsey alley 😊
“Not just a hat rack!”
This MUST be a Dave quote she picked up! Hahaha
Yes I would like to see a final four bracket of fast food chains.
100th episode! Congratulations.🎉
Question…if employer offers Roth401k, does that count same as Roth?
Smart money half an hour
You know I said that first
I still use fax machines in my job! LOL!! Due to HIPPA and several other needs in law enforcement we are still faxing away!
Very informative, thank you both for going over 401k retirement accounts!
How do I check if I still have my 401K and what to do???
Great show but why are index funds not good for long term investing? Lol seems on par with mutual funds. Also they made crypto sound exactly like NFTs which was confusing. I'm not into crypto and don't own any but Im almost positive it's not simply owning nothing like an NFT
I was thinking the same thing on the Index funds.
Once in a while, I’ll play with a small percentage of a smaller account. For example, for a smallish account, I put 10% in a real estate fund to “play” with it. What’s your opinion on this?
Spoiler alert: it made a tiny bit of money, maybe 2-3% vs 8-15% of the other funds.
Yes, coffee all the way !
I’m pretty sure George missed the mark. He said he named his emergency fund Rhonda but missed the punchline. I named my emergency fund Rhonda so when I have an emergency I say “help help me Rhonda”
So I am a Ramsey listener and I saw that u had a talk about investing and my 2 young sisters just received some money thought I'd share with them but then I listen and immediately delete the sent video. I love the educational part but too much talking off topic. Still love u guys.
You lost me, maybe forever! "Lacrosse is not a sport" You are dead to me George
Do the brackets! 😂
Am I the only one who hears the “…and everything from pop culture, current events, and money.” Isn’t it supposed to be “…and everything from pop culture TO current events, and money”?? I’m a nerd, I know🤦🏻♀️
I am genuinely curious, but is the difference to this question in relation to one being:
all three subjects being mentioned are bundled into the same sphere, while the other suggests the three have their own impact on the discussion?
I hope my question makes sense. Sorry
Every Olive Garden I have been in smells funky. I don't know what it is but I'll only do take out from them.
He sang a Brittney song and didn't mention that she follows him. That's a first that she came up in conversation and the fact that she follows didn't come up.
Shout out for Toastmasters!
BRACKETS
Shout out to DECA!!
Investment advisors won’t work with me as we only have 300k😔
You don't need them.
Funny episode
you dont need to pay the fees from mutual funds or ETFs most of them are just copying the SP500 adding some treasury bonds to reduce volatility (ups and downs ot your portfolio)
You can check the SP500 components online at a lot of places, and buy the top 100 or the top 50 (trying to match the % on the SP500) when they are cheap with a bit of patience, just by checking the monthly charts using reaaaaaally little time and effort.
If you consider yourself a "smart money person" you dont pay the fees from ETFs BRUH. thats dumb.

I use a fax machine every day.
What about floppy disks? 💾
Texas Roadhouse 🥩
Cracker Barrel 🥞
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ ❤
Mutual funds can have thousands of companies in them. Stop using the weird definition of 90-200.
Oh shush! Olive Garden all day!
I’m so unhappy with my smart investor pro. I’m
Not learning anything.
George might be the corniest person I've ever seen.
I thought I was really going to learn something here but your just goofing off.
Go watch the Ramsey show if you want something more serious.
They can't actually advise on investing as they aren't licensed to do so.
I vote yes on food brackets as an episode.
I’m w/ Rachel on the skateboard
I lost over $80k when everything started to tank. Not because I was in an exchange that went belly up. I was just stupid to hold and because that's what everyone said. I'm still responsible. It just taught me to be a better investor now that I understand more of what could go wrong. It took me over two years of being in the market, I'm really grateful I found one source to recover my money, at least $10k profits weekly. Thanks Natalie Strayer.
I'm surprised that you just mentioned Natalie Strayer here also Didn’t know she has been good to so many people too this is wonderful, i'm in my fifth trade with her and it has been super.
The very first time we tried, we invested $2000 and after a week, we received $9500. That really helped us a lot to pay up our bills.
Natalie Strayer has really set the standard for others to follow, we love her here in Canada 🇨🇦 as she has been really helpful and changed lots of life's
I'm new at this, please how can I reach her?
After I raised up to 125k trading with her I bought a new House and a car here in the states also paid for my son's surgery
Glory to God shalom.
You guys aren't that old LOL
"Professional skateboarder"? George? OMG that's so wrong!
Please please please talk babies… and getting baby on your health insurance right away… parents think it happens automatically and employers don’t typically tell them, unfortunately. Don’t forget to throw in the baby insurance garbage
This was very dumb money half an hour. Mutual funds can hold way over 200 stocks. Also listening to George describe the stock market was very lacking. Sounded to me like he didn’t even understand what the stock market is.
0:21
Like how they always say they are money experts. George has his wealth just on paper (equity), unusable until he sells his home and is homeless or plows it back into an expensive real estate market. Rachel is Dave's daughter and just reiterates talking points from Dave's get out of debt marketing department. Notice the other siblings with a backbone Dave never talks about?
George, the podcast didn't keep going in spite of anyone, there is entertainment value in watching the 'money experts' every week.
Sorry, just something about George that seems pompous like he is talking down to everyone.
Happy 🎉birthday!! Smart Money Happy Hour💜💚🩷
