These guys did more to break down the walls of the racial divide than most today do. Shit, I thought these guys the two coolest dudes on the planet. And I couldn't get enough. Still can't. Sam and Dave. Respect.
I guess if you are the children of a generation who would have stuck these entertainers into a camp and killed them for being black just 25 years before you're probably a bit uptight and disoriented.
They couldn't be squares. Hear all that great ApplAUsE? So I wonder if they were just tired, sore, from sitting on bleachers. Otherwise they'd be moving!!! They had to
A pleasure to see, the pre ordained sound of motown, in 1967, even the PA was in column speakers hehehehe, now thats historic, thanks for the music people, , great song
In 1966, i was 14 years old and went to a party in Raleigh ,NC They were playing Hold on i”m comin.. The kids had a dance to it .The song still moves me 58 years later .. Yes … This is when songs had a meaning that you could identify with .. but arrangements and “Grooves” that captivated their audience !!
I am too young to have heard this song when it came out but hearing it always gives me shivers down my spine. The idea that someone’s coming to save me or that I might be on the way to save someone is so energizing. It goes right to my heart. I’m incredulous that the audience was barely moving as I’d definitely be dancing to that fabulous performance. Sam and Dave were incredible and their music still holds up nearly 60 years later. What an exciting time it must have been!
I did, in London on the Stax tour with Otis and Booker T, they were fantastic, so fantastic that I saw them twice on one day. Those were the days when you could queue for tickets on the door.
That brought a thought to me that there's a song about the Boogaloo and the Shake or something like that, isn't there? Thanks, now, I gotta check it out. lol
@@sandragriffiths9692The shake was a dance. I was posting abt the song I now know was "Nobody but Me" by the Human Beinz, about the boogaloo, the shake, etc...

PURE! Pure Charisma 's & POWer's!~i Felt & Heard from my start of hearing them in 1960's on Chicago AM RAdio via mono small speaker transistor radio after listening also in my Dad's parked car until battery had just enough Amps to start car~i would test "PRN". Best's, dtf
@@wwrunk5551 I think Sam is a tenor, and Dave is a baritone (not quite as low as a bass). That's what it sounds like to me. They mix very well together!!!
Takes me right back to my youth, R&B aka soul music was right there in the top 40 playlists. We were fortunate enough to have R&B stations as well that did cross over to some "blue eyed soul" like the Righteous Brothers. Some BOSS tunes man
Yes, I remember those times, too. I miss the music, the soul, R&B etc. absolutely great music and now we have rap, which I hate, it doesn't require any talent.
Aw, has it gotta be a black or white thing? The applause was quite energized and very loud, lots of whistling, too. They could have been all danced out. We weren't there. However, if Sam and Dave were put on toward the tail end of the party, someone screwed up, big time.
Un moment merveilleux de la soul music que j'avais découvert en 1967 dans la STAX music mais je trouve ici le public ici un peu statique . Alors que pour moi c'est la défonce au bon sens du terme . Inoubliable . NORBERT .
Rest in Peace to my Uncle Jimmy Raleigh Norris on guitar 🎸 in the white shirt.. ❤️
Oh man! That is cool AF. Bet he had a wealth of stories!
❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥☄️☄️☄️👑👑👑
That was an amazing live performance for the year it was. Amazing song as well. It is a real classic. One of my favorites.
RIP to your uncle!
Great playing! I'm a rhythm guitar plater. I can tell!
Wow! Four Tenor Saxes, one Baritone, a Trumpet and a Trombone. Now THAT'S a Horn Section!!

I’m a lone star born and bred human. I had this in 1967 or whenever it came out. I love it
ABSOLUTELY!!
Damn right.
Legendary timeless performance, thank u for sharing!👍
So cool, so special. There needs to be more music like that - right now!
There never will be, times and music has changed. Gangsta rap and hip hop have taken over, it's a real shame.

Why on earth isn’t that audience on their feet and dancing?! I am dancing here in my apartment, listening to this. They were wonderful!
'Cause there Germans. They don't dance.. they march
'Cause they're Germans. And haven't received their orders yet.

Four Saxes on the left, a Sax on the right with a Trombone and a Trumpet. I would be on my feet with my arms in the air. And I'm not even religious.

this song is musically simple but it's hard as hell to sing! Brilliantly captivating and catchy piece of amazing music, baby!
Right, and Dave had a little trouble with tunes in a high key, but Sam..........it didn't bother him.
A good deal of it depends on where your range is. Maybe just try to sing with people who have voices like yours (in pitch).
