Just another short correction: by this moment they got 15 (Yui and Moa) and 17 yo (Su).🦊🤘🔥

  • @Grington300
    @Grington300 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +25

Great reaction - a couple of minor corrections - this was January 2015, Su was just turned 17, Yui and Moa were still 15, so a couple of years older than OSN said, but no less impressive that they had complete control of over 20,000 people all singing their song back to them.
Su has said that walking across the bridge with the crowd singing to them was one of her fondest memories.
BABYMETAL started in 2010 aged 12 and 11, they first toured in Europe (and the USA) in 2014 aged 16 and just turned 15.

This is why BABYMETAL is legendary and unlike any other band. The amount of talent and skill on display is unreal.

    Thanks again OldSkulNerd!
Haha, "They went from Babymetal to Intimidating Metal" --> Yes, that happens every time after they get their chocolate, LOL 🤣🍫.
Their hand gesture is the Fox sign 🦊. Since they started super young, the girls confused the devil horn hand sign 🤘 for a fox sign used in shadow play. The producer just rolled with it and created a whole story arc around it, which became their trademark hand gesture.
BTW, at this performance (Jan 2015), Su just turned 17, and the other gals (Yui & Moa) are 15. Still amazes me how a 17-year old, without a word, can split a 20K crowd faster than Moses does the Red Sea, haha.
Babymetal is definitely well known in the US now. They just announced their Nov US tour last week, and CA was sold out 1st day during pre-sale. They added a 2nd day which sold out immediately as well, causing Babymetal to add a 3rd day in CA.
Look forward to more Babymetal reactions! 🤘🦊

This song premiered in the UK lucky us . One thing to notice is mosh pits dont stop . When Su says sing the mosh pit/circle pit stops for them to join in .

At the time of this performance Babymetal already had done their first world tour the year before, which also had performances in the US, include opening 4 times for Lady Gaga ! Lady Gaga was in the photographers/security pit before the stage rocking out. 🙂

You nailed it about the confidence, like when the crowd was singing and got off the beat that Su has in her ear she just said "ok gigantic crowd, we're going to go THIS way now" and they all followed her back onto the correct beat so the band would come back in on time. Friggin' amazing stage presence.

The first video featuring "Gimme Chocolate" was so much fun. And my friend this performance is part of the canon, required listening so to speak. I'm not giving anything away just a heads up. If this sounds very Dragonforce like there's a reason. Herman Li and Sam Totman wrote the original guitar arrangements and played guitars on the original album release. Many knowledgeable fans hear that Dragonforce influence and get all caught up in "did they copy...ect." Just wanted to keep you from falling into that sink hole.

Giving a little help to Old School here...Su was 17 and Yui and Moa were 15 during this show..this was in 2015 when they were a bit older but yes, they were about 11-12 years old when they signed on to Sakura Gakuin back in 2010. So by the time of this show, they were pretty seasoned Pro's...but what other live show does the band just stop, and the singers stop singing, and the only sound for almost 30 straight seconds, is the sound of the crowd singing back at you!!
    More Babymetal Always!!
    Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!

This was the video hooked me on them, it popped up on my feed a couple of years ago and I've been finding new performances to watch ever since.
The thing that never ceases to amaze me, more than anything else that amazes me about BM, is how every single performance is different and nearly perfect. They are just beyond words excellent.

This whole concept you're doing with Old Skulenerd is so enjoyable and engaging. Profs to both of you on coming up with this. For us Babymetal fans one of life's little pleasures is vicarisously sharing in someones introduction to the Babymetal experience.
All that said I did have two comments. The girls were actually Su (17) Moa&Yui (15) at this performance. That and I wonder about it being a surreal experience. I've heard Su comment on how much she loved this performance. But realize that the competence and poise they exhibit here is a result of the years of training, practice and performing they've already done to get here.
Oldskulenerd was right that they are in front of a home audience here. The year before this they made their first appearance at a major music festival in outside of Japan in England. Do to a cancellation last minute they got bumped from a side stage to the main stage in front of 55,000 potentially cranky metal heads. The vast bulk of whom had never heard of Babymetal. The girls were really nervous and didn't know what to expect. They went on anyways and crushed it.
That performance and the reception they got also had the ripple effect that to this day they have a special fondness for England and have referred to it as their home away from home.

Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。The crowd involvement (circle pit, call & response, chant etc.) occurs wherever they go on this planet. This anthemic song was played in every show in their 2023 tours in North American, EU/UK, Asia and Australia. (And several times in USA/Japan/EU this year already) The audience reaction is always similar to it in this video.
In your video, Su shouted some words at 12:36 meaning "Bring them on!". Fans analyzed that the provocative shout was thrown at people who had been ignoring, underrating, mocking, hating and even trying to discredit BABYMETAL. That shout may have been necessary in 2015 but not any longer. She has shouted it occasionally since then and when she does, it is with her friendly smile and matured mild voice that I love meaning "Come on guys!"😄

Won't comment with listing out the incorrect details he gave. My suggestion is for both of you to watch the Not So Extensive Guide to Babymetal by A Fox Song, which is the most up to date from 2 months ago.
But other than his excitement in getting her to react to Babymetal and getting the details incorrect (I've done it myself), great reaction! There is alot of history to unfold and my suggestion has always been to start with their beginnings and go chronologically so you can see the growth they've experienced in the past 14 years.Gimme Chocolate was also my very first exposure, and it was Road Of Resistance that made me an INSTANT fan. And I"ve never looked back.
One other suggestion I would make is for you to never take your eyes off the performance. There is so much happening and it happens so fast, if you look away just to look at the camera, you'll miss it. And also watch the video all the way through to the end. Cause like I said, sometimes there will be something at the end and if you cut it short, you'll miss the experience. Cause that's the point, right?
Looking forward to your next BM reaction. Hopefully you'll start at the beginning to see how young they were with Doki Doki Morning mv.
Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing your BM journey with us down the foxhole.

Great reaction! "Road of Resistance" at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, in 2015 is their "showcase" performance. It´s all about love and respect, if it comes to the relation between them and their crowds. The crowd loves and respects the girls/ladies, and the girls/ladies LOVE and respect their crowds. Su-Metal wishes to see a WoD? The crowd gives her the WoD, and then the crowd give their all to please the girls/ladies, just like the girls/ladies give their all to please the crowd. Part of that love&respect is, that the circle pit STOPS for the chanting. That´s not the normal behaviour at "conservative" metal concerts 😉
You could see this relation, consisting of love and respect, more clearly at the more recent performances. Su-Metals glowing smile at some shows, when "Road of Resistance" is performed, is SO beautiful, pure joy, a sight to behold! And that the crowd is very pleased you´ll hear with the chanting, the screams/roars, watching the circle pits, 12-25k people doing some kind of simple choreography in unison, and more. Wait until you see the performance of "Headbangerrrrr!!!!" in 2023, at the Makuhari Messe Event Hall, Chiba, Japan, to see the "more". Done by appr. 25k people, on the "Scream and Dance" department´s demand. It´s breathtakingly crazy😉
Soon after the debut of "Road of Resistance" there was no concert performance of it without a Wall of Death. At their concerts in Japan, most of the time there are several of them. Even in smaller venues there is at least one Wall of Death. Most of the time HUGE ones 😄
BABYMETAL are very unique, and they are already legends.

BABYMETAL actually are known somewhat in the US these days, at least by the metal community, and also by people in the know about the Japanese music scene (Japan currently has the best overall music scene in the world, hands down). It's true however that the US mainstream music scene doesn't really know about them though - which isn't surprising at all considering the mainstream music scene mostly blows and the Top 40, Billboard charts, etc. are pretty much magnetic north for everything suck.
At any rate, you should definitely react to more BABYMETAL. They are pioneers in the metal scene who created their own subgenre and they are also one of the top tier live performing bands in the world (anyone in the know will tell you to check out their live shows), and they have four full length albums of genre-bending awesomeness. They have toured the US a number of times by the way (I've seen them 4 times in various cities), and also just announced their newest US tour a week or so ago if you're interested.
    All hail the Fox God.

Good reaction. For Western fans who do not know the "Idol phenomenon" in Japan, it will be very difficult for them to understand the ease of these girls in winning over the public.
Moa and Yui's function in this group is not to dance and give choruses, but rather they have a much more important function for an idol: controlling the public. Idols learn to control fans from the beginning. They are not surprised, because they have been learning to do it for years.
