Terrific breakdown, Mike! Couple of questions for you, based on your comments and info here and on the AVP Galaxy forum. 1. When we see Big Chap, does he/she still look the same as in the original film? 2. Does the film feel like a remake of the first two films, or does it have a nice balance of new and old? 3. Last question... but is that shot of the Xeno at the end with Spaney, a practical effect or CG enhanced? Thanks man! I loved the trailer too.
@@LAZ-org I don't remember him answering those questions in a specific way though. He mentions the final shot, doesn't mention whether it's practical or CG enhanced. I’m curious what Andy is doing with the black goo? (Or what appears to be as such in that container) I could certainly be wrong but I think when his eyes roll back and he “reboots” he’s actually getting hacked or downloaded with stuff from Weyland-Yutani; and then goes on to grab the goo for the company or something. Either way this is my most anticipated movie of the year!
Great video that does a perfect job of adding little tidbits without spoiling. In this horrible culture we live in of leakers and clickbait videos it is really refreshing to have someone fighting to preserve the integrity of the filmmakers and helping the audience go in with as much surprise as possible. With the info you know, you could easily post a breakdown vid and make your channel and subscribers go through the roof, but kudos for being the better person and not going down a road i'm sure many others in your position would have done without hesitation. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for saying that! I indeed could spill the beans on everything if I so pleased, but that would only benefit me and steal the experience away from many others. That's not a cool thing to do. I truly respect the art of filmmaking and the idea that some things should be left secret until you're seeing the thing with your own eyes. It can't feel good having someone spoil all the surprises before you get to share the final version of whatever you're making. It's like someone interupting a joke you're telling and skipping right to the punchline, or someone in the audience yelling out the conclusion during a presentation you're giving. Or even like the joke in the Simpsons when Homer ruins the Darth Vader reveal to the line of folks waiting to see Empire! Thank you so much for sharing this comment!
What is great about the trailer is that he gives you some, but not all. Just a tip of the iceberg, but the larger part is hidden underneath. I’m liking what I see so far. Love the practical effects.
This movie looks like it will be great! And I've enjoyed Alvarez's previous films. I only have one reservation. And I know you can't answer and I don't blame you but I really hope this doesn't mess with the "mythology" established in the first two films (kinda like the Scott prequels did. If this movie messes with the prequels mythology, I don't care since they did it first). In other words I kinda hope this is a stand alone movie instead totally trying to link with the first two movies, to the point where it tries to alter the stories of those films. It won't change those films for me but it might taint my experience with this movie. I just have this theory, I won't say what, but this movie will try to reconcile some "discrepancies" between Alien and Aliens (among other things). I hope I'm off and just overthinking what is, basically, a good old fashioned monster movie. Regardless the movie will still likely be killer and probably be the best Alien film since Aliens (fingers crossed)
This has me worried. At first I got really excited and then after watching the trailer about 5 times now. It looks too much like a shot for shot remake of the greatest hits.
That's just clever marketing and entirely intentional. They know that everyone loved the first two movies (and Alien 3 had some cool moments) so they're giving (most) people exactly what they want in the trailer to get them onboard. This is only a fraction of the movie, and I'm sure it will add its own unique contribution to the franchise, we just don't know exactly what yet, and that's why we're watching.
Great breakdown. VID SPOILERS: . . . . Andy looks like he's holding some 'black goo' vials?! Wow. Um... yah. I need to know more about this... or is it just setting up for a sequel? The 'meteorite' going through the red laser reminds me of one of the gestation pods when a mogwai becomes a gremlin. Like the shot of her shooting the Xeno... looks to have the dog legs like Isolation. Acid in 0g? Oh, nice! "...just like ALIEN3." Oh! so... someone might be gestating a queen? So many questions... August 16th cant get here soon enough.
Answer me this, did they at least get the pulse rifle sound correct? So many games except for colonial Marines got it wrong. Alien versus predator from 1999 got it right, so did the other aliens versus predator from 2010 however they only have one pitch tone and that same tone as repeated when you hold down the firing button. But in colonial Marines they have five different tones of the pulse rifle like in the actual film, I thought that was a nice touch.
I can't say exactly because when I saw it there were temporary sound effects and music. So I don't know if they changed the sound or not and won't until I see the final version.

I dont get how the Xenomorph's fingers are folded and need to be uncurled if they are extended over the creatures dome in the coccon. I can only assume the hands appear first then retract over the dome to tear itsel free?

The colony world looks amazing, extremely immersive and believable, almost a bit Bladerunner 2049-like. Do you know what the budget was of this movie, because it doesn’t look like an expense was spared. Sets look amazing, effects look amazing, and the zero gravity scenes look fantastic. I have no knowledge of the plot at all, this is just a speculative theory - I’m wondering if Andy’s “update” alters his programming and perhaps his “priorities are rescinded”?
I'm not sure the budget actually, but it all looked top tier when I saw the rough cuts. I won't say what happens with Andy's update, other than it was very interesting!
I’m holding what I thought of it all until I’m able to see the final film with finished effects and all. I don’t think it would be fair to judge just yet.
Yes, there are a lot of reminders from older Alien films, atmosphere, visual elements etc, but the actors are without charisma, not even close to the first two films, even the third and fourth Alien are stratospheric (I won't even mention Covenant and Prometheus), the actors look like a bunch of faceless teenagers, that's the first impression of the movie after watching the trailer. But well, we should watch the whole movie and then give a conclusion.
Luckily these kids are all actually in their 20’s and not teens. Nor do they act like them in the movie. Definitely watch the whole film to form the conclusion. 👍🏻

The effects weren’t done, so I can’t say 100%. The practical stuff looked great, but they hadn’t removed wires or rods for puppets yet. So I cannot give a full opinion, but overall, are very well done.
@@karlheinz3152 Haha, I appreciate that! I'm still pretty small here and don't make a ton of videos to churn content out. So that's probably why. But I am definitely growing a lot here!!

I absolutely cannot believe that anyone is anticipating what will be the biggest flop of the Alien films. Children who look like they just escaped the game room in their parents basements. In Alien: Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, there was a lot of depth to the characters and plot. It was deep enough to stir your imagination, wondering what direction the next movie will flow. After seeing the trailer, I remembered Jaws, Jaws 2, Jaws 3D, and then what? The Italian masterpiece, and jewel in the crown of the Jaws movies, CRUEL JAWS!!! Of course, it was not to be taken as part of the franchise, though it did stumble repeatedly into sequel territory. Honestly, when I saw that they were going into other religious in Prometheus, and finding commonalities, I was intrigued. It's not that I ascribe to more than one of them, but it is that I am aware of the Sumerian flood story, and a parallel narrative to Judaism. The recurrent themes caused me to wonder what an "angel" would look like. Not the variety that looks like the archetypal "Cupid" and has a red fanny, but a preexistent created race of beings. With the word for "Heaven" being "The expanse" or space in Hebrew (one of three meanings for the English word), it caused me to wonder exactly what a self willed (fallen) race might look like. Would they be technologically advanced? Being from "the expanse", or space, they landed on Mt. Herman in Genesis, and 200 of these being took wives of humans as they pleased. OK, so the actress in Prometheus asks, "If you made us, then why did you change your mind?", and she is attacked. The real question was, "Were these preexistent beings aligned with the creator or not? Was she speaking with the right group, or were these the fallen ones, coming back to destroy the earth? So many well devised questions to be answered. Even the role of Artificial Intelligence, and the question, "Can it be good?", when it is a reflection of its fallen and non-redeemed creators. David: "Let me ponder this, you are seeking your creator and I am looking at mine. You will die, and I will not"....get me some tea, David. To answer all of these questions, we have CRUEL JAWS!!! OK, the letdown is so extreme, that the chance I will watch this one, is ZERO. If you have a low IQ and are easy to please, please comment.

Ripleys cryo pod is on the station?
No, because she's asleep with Jonesy for many more years on the Narcissus.
One question man, pls, is it as good as the first two alien movies?😟😢
Edit: or is it even better? I’m interested in your opinion.
I’m holding what I thought of it all until I’m able to see the final film with finished effects and all. I don’t think it would be fair to judge just yet.
@@MikesMonsters ok🥲
amazing channel
Thank you so much!!!
I feel like even that Scott is a producer, fed is taken more from aliens then alien .
It's definitely a mix of both for sure.
Looks like the final shot might be the end of the movie. She draws it to the air lock but this time they both go out into space... maybe 🤷♂️
I can confirm it is not the end of the movie and that's not what happens! 😎
@@MikesMonsters Excellent! So, a slightly original ending this time compared to what we've already seen?
@@Dude-oh8vq it’s something else for sure! It was pretty wild.
Oh good 👍
I'm making the new alien movie, its in between aliens 2 and 3, we find the queen in space and reverse engineer it
Make it happen!
Out of curiosity, who was your favorite character from what you saw 😗
I really dug Andy and Rain.
August cant come soon enough 😭💔💔💔

I really appreciate that! I'm still a new/small channel, but definitely trying to put out quality content over quantity! I am glad to have you here, thanks for subscribing!
I was interdouduced to your channel from the neca feral predator rewiew and i havent watched your vids in a while contrasts on 2k
It’s been a crazy journey! Thanks for being here since then!!!
@@MikesMonsters thanks for being a great channel
the man, who already have seen it. can you tell how much do you like the vfx? i think you are the one who like it most, because you saw it in a rough version.
The effects weren’t done, so I can’t say 100%. The practical stuff looked great, but they hadn’t removed wires or rods for puppets yet. So I cannot give a full opinion, but overall, are very well done.
@@MikesMonsters thank you for the quick answer.
@@MikesMonsters second question: why do you have not muuuuch more clicks? you channel is awesome!
@@karlheinz3152 Haha, I appreciate that! I'm still pretty small here and don't make a ton of videos to churn content out. So that's probably why. But I am definitely growing a lot here!!
Polaroid!
Indeed!
I can’t be the only one who was confused by the aggressive face hugger and the guy in the water. I mean, am I supposed to be grossed out? Or am I a little turned on by it? 🏳️🌈
Top tier comment right here!!!
So you’ve seen the movie and know all this to be fact?
Mike you're a hypocrite, you release a video telling people not to spoil the movie yet this whole video you've done the same.
If you say so!
Oh yeah… you didn’t spoiled anything.
You are a hypocrite sir.
