@Jackson Elliot Anything is possible. With the currents and being in an open shipping lane, in the dark? Chances are pretty slim. Non trained swimmer can swim a mile in about 30 to 40 minutes. You would be disabled from hyperthermia in 30 minutes, dead in a few hours. Three mile swim... it's a long shot. If the water was warm, you have a good chance. Cold water would beat you down.

Growing up in SoCal we learned to swim..I mean we have the Pacific ocean RIGHT there.. I found out a few years ago while on vacation that 3 of my friends had no idea how to swim. I was like how the fk were you gonna go snorkeling?? I couldn't believe it. I spent so many summers taking the bus to the beach just to go boogie boarding, body surfing, cliff jumping.. Everyone needs to learn water safety. This means learning how to swim.
Hell naw u must've grew up in in Malibu or some weird shit, I know too many LA homies that don't know how to swim we didn't have no damn swimming pools at our school. You definitely grew up with a silver spoon

Definitely some cameras. The Ferrys in Washington have cameras and if someone goes overboard they can review the footage to see what happened. Lots of people have jumped off them. Can't save this poor guy but it's a minimal expense for tragic events like this and closure for family when it happens :-/

I'm betting this guy went over on purpose. Suicide style. The rails are adequately high, it's a very safe boat. I love the express, and would continue to ride without worry.

So,,, a man over board, these boats do not have a sound alarm nearby if cases like this happens? Or buttons to push to alarm the officers on boat that someone fell? Because how far did the boat go once he dropped in the water? He could have stayed afloat for a while if he knew how to paddle his legs. Sadly if, he did not know how to at least stay afloat or swim then it is just one sad tragedy again in California.
