Saw someone in chat saying intax took a div 1 spot and that was bad manners, even though he dnf'd on round 1, and i would just like to point out that in a cup with 64 players/division, there were only 60 that connected to the server, so i dont think intax was the problem
It's an unwritten rule that map authors can qualify for div 1 and DNF first round, so they can spectate. AFAIK div 1 players are ok with this, even if chat complains

I think this is one of my favourite tracks you've played in COTD, I like the drifts and curves, with the technical drop downs. I don't play trackmania but I enjoy watching because of the intricacies you describe while playing. Another great video, thanks for creating it.

Wirtual, If you have packet loss, one thing you can check is that all of your Coax cables are screwed in tightly (to your cable modem or optical modem). You should also check the tightness of any cables coming from the wall or any junctions outside or on an opposite wall. A good friend of mine had a bunch of packet loss while playing CS: Go, and all he had to do was screw in the cables more tightly. Might not be issue but hope it helps.

28:18 The "no audio on reconnect" thing on Twitch only happens when you are explicitly using the the VoD audio track setting.
For some reason on the reconnect, Twitch only accepts your VoD audio and not your main.

When I first watched this, I thought the pyramids was some part of Trackmania lore, but no. Wirtual is just a degen pyramidtologist.
Packet loss happens to me too. Totally the fault of the ISP in 99% of cases. They either have faulty hardware on their end, or gave you some faulty hardware. If you're a business, they might care enough to fix it, if not, good luck.

you may never see this but its worth checking in your router settings that your mtu size is not too high, i had very similar issues and it was a simple enough fix, MTU is the maximum transmission unit worth a google

Hey W - I had a similar connection issue - it was due to the modem I was using.. see if your ISP will let you swap for a newer one, usually its not an issue, the problem was basicaly due to the network becoming oversaturated and some sub-par firmware not being able to juggle the packets correctly so it would just drop various services or reset its dns connection without any warning - which killed all online gaming sessions
You won’t have to name change if you lose to the other wirtual. Due to you pulling a wirtual by doing so 🎉😊

Are there any COTD maps that use the stadium geometry as part of the track, or is that verboten?
I think a book is fine, a notch is iffy, it depends tho. Cause with a book you still have to physically set it up, and practically renders the controller useless. A notch isn't terrible and is used in other games legally, and once again doesn't give to big of an advantage because there are only so many angles you do with notches, and still requires some muscle memory to use. Not to mention action keys exist to begin with.
I'd love it if Wirtual joined Dapper and the boys to try their tracks

Yup at 25:25 that seemed to be the case since I saw (and felt, yep, felt) the lag in some parts of the video. I had a feeling what happened at that part was going to happen due to the aforementioned witnessed (and felt) lag.

Im debating what to learn trackmania on. Is it better to use controller or keyboard? I am kind of alright with both.
Keyboard is a little more consistent, with turns being 100% and using action keys to consistently turn 80/60/40% etc, whereas with a gamepad 100% is simple but anything inbetween 0 and 100 is a little iffy, but it just depends on what you find more comfortable. There are players that get records with keyboard, records with gamepads, and there's players like Granady who use steering wheels and still perform well. I'd do keyboard if you have dreams of being #1, otherwise use what you find most comfortable.

When it comes to “cheating” there’s 2 kinds.
There’s intentionally gaining a very unfair advantage, and then there’s doing something to gain an advantage that’s not explicitly outlawed.
I dare say most Esports organisations will have rules regarding notches and custom bound keys, but when they don’t? It’s free game.
Also isn’t there one guy who plays trackmania with a simulator wheel? Would that not become an illegal control type?
The problem I think here is that custom AKs have been banned for keyboard players, so I feel like allowing notches that give the exact same effect would be getting too inconsistent with the rules. If keyboard players can't use custom AKs because of the perfect consistency you can't duplicate with a controller, steering wheel, or mouse, why should controller players be allowed to get perfect consistency through a controller mod? I see getting a notch controller mod as the exact same kind of thing as modifying the inputs of an analog keyboard like Wirtual's, exactly like he did in the 34% controversy.
The books case is fine I'd say because it's an isolated incident in a troll COTD of all things, but I personally think notches would cross the line given Nadeo's stance on custom AKs.

I was thinking about how hard it would be to drive the exact same lines, and how if you managed to do it consistently, you'd get the same time over and over, so people would just think you're cheating. Literally the next moment, you got the same time twice in a row, and I realised why you titled the video the way you did.

There it should be a product from the ISP to assure the speed and to reduce the packet loss (usually for firms), then you should have all your cabling shielded, cat 6a minimum and you should have a really good router, that has a great load balancer. Also you could opt out for the cloudflare DNS or create your own DNS server
What product is that exactly? I'm a network engineer and can't think of what you're referring to. And a personal DNS is like hitting a thumbtack with a sledge hammer! You only really need shielding in areas of high EMI/RFI, for such a short distance there'd likely be no benefit. Better router is definitely a good idea.
Yeah, no way that's necessary. We install cat6 only in warehouses with lot of open space and metal shelves all over place and it's still overkill.
I don't think it's packet loss in the (in it's correct term) cause for connection to but cut at all it would have to be huge malfunction. I would argue about high router processor utilization or that it's full of dust. And I hope they not on wifi... Either way they should get cable tester ( as it's around 10€)
For some reason, it seems like wall bumps are not doing as much harm to the run as normal. Is this because it is a dirt track?
