My brother s and sisters would play this song more than the other Motown songs that where also popular at that time l was too young to really understand the significance of this song and now at 68 yrs of age. I have lived it, learned to move on and learned to make myself find contentment in what life experience s offer me.💕A True Classic Soul the 4 Tops the greatest singers and the studio musicians masterful in their crafts .💕A fan always.
The Four Tops! the most loyal foursome of our life! And only Duke will tell you all the best story of the best music, and the best friends of our Motown Era! And yes, I was made when Berry Gordy left Detroit and went to LA!
That's how I feel after 51 years of my life gone by. I'm blessed to have my 3 children, thank you god for giving me them, cause who knows where I'd be. You have truly given me my heaven through them, and my life.
The Four Tops... I was born in 1953..the birth of the Tops or The Four Aims...I remember hearing their first UK hit in 1965..Baby I Need Your Loving...been listening ever since.. My life with the Incredible Four Tops. Thank you❤❤❤❤ 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Ron DayVoo; Levi was a natural baritone. He had to teach himself how to sing at the tenor range. H-D-H wrote the songs for a tenor, because the sound was more effective. They told him to figure it out. That’s why you hear this wonderful tenor voice.
@@darrylpope7740 did you know Marvin Gaye complained about the HDH classics he sang? He said they were cut so high that after 2 weeks singing them on the road he got hoarse, but maybe the drugs made him hoarse too.
A wasted life trying to prevent a repeat of the same mistakes in the life of another. It is prudent for the young to weigh the experiences & wisdom of the old avoid obstacles already traversed. NEVER BEEN TO ME🎉🎉🎉
The Funk Brothers, the Andantes, Four Tops, Temps and Jimmy Ruffin will make you SLAP somebody...This is when "MUSIC" was really "MUSIC"...Thank you Motown!!!
I feel bad for years of loving the Temps, Marvin, Smokey and rest of Motown and not giving 4 tops their credit. After going through their catalogue I cant get enough. Levi was the MAN.
So much incredible Motown Four-Tops music...Something About You nails me every time!! (And of course, this version of Ask the Lonely is a masterpiece.) Glad you discovered them...what a joy!
Loved them as a child in the 60s. Love them now. Levi had such an infectious smile and a voice for the ages. Makes me sad when I think of how many greats we have lost over the years.
ACAPELLA - SYMPHONIC!! "Just Ask The Lonely" is a PLATINUM expression of encouragement for those who were victims of deceit ... thinking someone loves you but has undermined and betrayed you on every possible level! Levi Stubbs masterfully serenades us with his experiences as an example to draw strength from!
@kewanbonhardt7749-Wow! Don't we ALL know someone like that who is a Malignant Narcissist void of any and all forms of Love and who's only interest in life is SELF! Yeah, tell me about it! Oh, but don't worry, at the END OF THEIR LIFE when they're OLD and alone, they will do anything to find LOVE but it will EVADE them! Karma's a real B-I-T-C-H ain't she!
Well, "mosogotam", you've done it again! These versions never cease to amaze me. Levi Stubbss acapella was the most feared by many of the other Motown performers. Smokey Robinson once said the performers used to go to house parties for acapella contests and the winner would win the money collected. Whenever the Four Tops showed, they knew the contest was over!
This is my favorite Motown song, I have just recently gone thru a very difficult break up with someone I thought loved me and this song hits the nail on the head, and like Kewan Bonhardt stated, thinking someone loves you but instead betrayed you, this is a true song and a hauntingly sad, losing a love that will never return, wow great writing of this song by Mickey Stevenson.
HOPE YOU'RE BETTER NOW. This is my favorite Motown song too. It really did something to me when I first heard it. It was just before my time and I didn't get into oldies until the early 80s.
Man, I am so glad to have grown up listening to artists like Levi Stubbs, Marvin Junior, Isaac Hayes, David Ruffin and Jerry Butler (to name just a few). I'd say there were over 500 singers during the 50's to 70's that put pure emotion into their music. Don't know if that's still true today. For the sake of soul, I hope so....
Sheer perfection...both the original and this extended version. 52-years later this song still touches me way down deep in my soul. The instrumental intro is just plain joy and the instrumental fade-out is 30-seconds of pure bliss and something I've never heard before. That's why I adore mosogotam and all his gifts. He's taken music I've treasured all my life, treated it with respect and given us more of it. Many many thanks.
Thanks for showing a photo of Mr Earl Van Dyke & The Funk Bros . No words to express how I love this song. I kept this on repeat today when I visited the graveside of my true love, 28 yrs gone from this world, never gets easier, the best & brightest at Motown help me get thru . Thanks for this beautiful version 💕
I like the rest of my Generation and those before us are very fortunate to have lived in a moment of America's great history when it was abundantly rich with tremendous talent such as the FOUR TOPS!What OUTSTANDING ENTERTAINERS to have delivered so much to AMERICA despite the hatred that was forced upon them!THANK YOU to my beloved FOUR TOPS!!!!
Amazing cannot get enough of it. I am from Belgium and at that time that beautifull music did not cross the big ocean Lucky we have u tube and some nice people downloading this
I love this song from Four Tops. May all the original Four Top members rest in peace. I look forward to listening to the surviving members do more music.
Fantastic Mix. I liked the vocal only, Then I really got blown' Away,.When the song went Instrumental. Then ending the third verse with a complete mix. Great Sounding. Thank You for Your Work to Make This Mix.
TO BE QUITE HONNEST,,,I DIDNT THINK THE BEST TOPS TUNE COULD BE BETTERED,,,IT HAS BEEN ALL 5 AND A HALF MINS OF IT.......THANK YOU AND WELL DONE,,SUPERB...STILL DOES MY SPINE AFTER ALL THESE YEARS.....
A year after discovering this I can't...I won't...I don't want to stop listening to this. Its magical-rhythmic-beauty just blows me away and fills my heart and my soul with pure bliss. Thanks so much Mosogotam.
I saw these guys at the Stern wheel Regatta , Charleston West Virginia 1988. The brought the damn house down. Best concert I ever went to. They played outside and were total showmen Thanks you 4 Tops for all the music. Music that I grew up listening to and will never forget
What would Motown have been with out the Funk Brothers? The 60's and part of the 70's were the best Music their was every song just absolutely beautiful. A time when you could set in the park with your girl and just be yourself. Love and miss that time in my life. Miss my sweet heart back then Nancy Gills, Columbus Ohio.
Four beautiful, talented, eloquent, stylish men who knew their craft. Thanks Motown, from an old English bloke. Still listening to this gorgeous music. Love 💘 to all
One of the greatest groups that have emerged from R&B genre. And certainly, this is one of the Four Tops love songs that remain ageless. Their devotion to quality music and lyrics made them exceptional throughout their entire music career. May the passing members RIP eternally.
And the Grammy Award for 'Best Extended Version'...and the Lifetime Achievement Award for 'Excellence in Extended Versions'...AND the inductee into the 'Extended-Versions' Music Hall of Fame...all go to...mosogotam!!!!. Well deserved...take a bow. And thank you.
An interesting fact that I bet many don't know many groups and solo artists went to Motown looking for a recording deal but Barry Gordy recruited the Four Tops to come to Motown.
I really enjoy your extended versions. Very well done and the transitions are smooth. Getting a chance to hear the nuances of this music is a real treat. Keep it up.
Oh WOW. That's fantastic. Levi's voice - amazing. I saw him several times with the tops then met him when they did the UK 'Giants of Motown' tour with the Tempts and Jean Scherrie & Lynda. What an amazing show that was!
GORDON BENNETT! How good is this?! One of my top three Tops songs, ever. And now it's twice as long. Everything about this is wonderful. And the acapella from the mighty Levi at the start has come straight from heaven. My beautiful old Mum died this week. A truly lovely woman called Jean. This is now the song I'll play, to remember her by. Thank you for this wonderful mix. And God bless her.
Just incredible! Just cannot express how grateful I'm for the time you are taking to bring these old priceless classics to new life. The quality of the sound along with your remix touches are phenomenal

Very good and I love the way this emphasizes Levi Stubbs. That man had a tone NO OTHER singer had, just like David Ruffin did.
Ron DayVoo; Levi was a natural baritone. He had to teach himself how to sing at the tenor range. H-D-H wrote the songs for a tenor, because the sound was more effective. They told him to figure it out. That’s why you hear this wonderful tenor voice.
