    Thank you for sharing the knowledge. Just finished the service on my D22. Fuel filter was a bit tight and difficult to remove, but managed to get it off after a while. Much appreciation all the way from South Africa👍

    I just did a service the same and OMG did it take some priming .... filled the diesel filter with diesel and everything and must’ve pumped the primer 100 times literally, ended up with a forearm that looked like Popeye - in the end I had to crack the pipe off down near the pump and bleed the air out down there, prick of a job but got there in the end. Cheers and thanks for sharing 😉👍👍

    • @ReubsModifications
      @ReubsModifications  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah but of a mission to prime them, I’ve had to crack the lines before too. Sometimes you get lucky sometimes you don’t 😂

    • @4WheelingInNSW
      @4WheelingInNSW 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ReubsModifications I even plugged the lines where they push onto the filter however that didn’t seem to stop it sucking air into the lines. I might trying clamping them next time with vice grips maybe 👍

    A Diesel mechanic showed me a great way to service the fuel filter and that is to remove both fuel lines from the filter assembly then remove the two bolts, then turn it upside down bolt it back up then remove the the filter. Then you can reassemble new filter without double handling the filter. Turn filter assembly back the right way attach fuel lines and prime away.

    Hi mate, your videos are very helpful and well explained cheers,
    i have an issue with my d22 navara, my oil warning light is not turning on when the ignition turns up, it happened after an oil change, and just one time came on after, then never tuned on, what might be the reason for this? Where is its sensor located?
    Please give me a reply if you keen
    Thanks

    • @ReubsModifications
      @ReubsModifications  ปีที่แล้ว

      hey mate, I'm pretty sure the oil warning light is only meant to turn on if there is an issue with the oil pressure. If your oil pressure is operating as normal the light should not be on.

    I just noticed you didn’t take the hoses off the filter before removing it …. you reckon just leave them on there eh and unscrew the filter ?
    Maybe that’s what I did wrong causing air to suck in 🤔🤔🤔

    • @ReubsModifications
      @ReubsModifications  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My patrol had trouble starting a couple times after I changed the fuel filter, could just be the system working air bubbles out. Id try priming the filter whenever you have issues and Id say there's a good chance this problem will go away pretty soon. I dont think there would be much difference between taking the hoses off or leaving them on, the diesel will come out anyway.

    • @4WheelingInNSW
      @4WheelingInNSW 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ReubsModifications yeah thanks bud.
      I changed it like you did and still had air get in the lines … friggin’ pain in the backside, started it yesterday and was still struggling with it today 🤣 end up having to pressurise the fuel tank with a compressor and crack the line a few times to get the air out.
      I ended up putting a small ball pump, like used on outboard motor fuel tanks, on the inlet hose and it may’ve made it a little easier to prime, not really sure. The factory primer on top of the fuel filter is as useful as boobs on a bull 🤣.
      I don’t think it helped the car was nose up and the tank was between 1/4 and 1/2 full - was taking forever to prime.
      Geez there was some crap in the old filter OMG !!! I think that’s what may’ve been causing the surging I was asking you about - don’t think it was my NPS after all, will take for a good uphill run and test it out 👍 cheers mate and I appreciate your help and advice - long live the Nav’ mate #navlife 🤣

    hi does this have the common rail version or the vp44 rotary injector pump version ? which one is better in your opinion im looking to get a navara very soon going to trade my mk 1 pajero in

    • @ReubsModifications
      @ReubsModifications  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is the common rail version with the 2.5, I have the Direct Injection 3.0L with the VP44. Both have their benefits and both engines are becoming more popular with some people doing some really impressive work and getting good power out of them. I prefer the DI as its a little bit easier for people to work on as there's less electronics. Both cars are almost identical otherwise.

    Hi, I have a question, why does mine have 2 fuel filters? One is short and one is a bit longer. The handpump is connected to the short one and the longer one is connected to the cable like yours..

    • @ReubsModifications
      @ReubsModifications  ปีที่แล้ว

      Likely that you have a primary and a secondary filter, they will have different sized filter screens inside. If not a secondary filter than id say it’s a water separator👍🏻

      It’s an immaculate car, it’s even been all the way around Australia so it’s seen plenty of dust. I think the trick is keeping them out of mud if you can, although there are some good products for that. Might make a engine bay video once mine is back on the tracks 👍🏻
