- In this video I go over a full egr delete vs an egr blocker plate and why I chose a full delete over a plate. Side by side compartment on a LBZ and LLY and what to look for when buying a “deleted truck” and different routes you can take for different budgets. Lots more to come!
I’ve watched tons of vids but I never subscribe, your channel is the first. Because I found zero vids but yours that explain this.
One piece of advice, do better identifying the items under the hood as you video them.
@@BenRussell-m1r I appreciate it man! I did my best to identify everything under the hood. However a lot of the EGR stuff on the engine you can not see without taking a bunch of stuff off the top of the engine. Same thing with the Y bridge, it’s buried in the valley and it’s almost impossible to see! It’s been years since I made a TH-cam video. However, I’m going to start making videos again real soon! If you have any video ideas or topics that you want to learn more about on these trucks, let me know!!

On the other truck that still has the cooler. Did he mod his maf or did he have the truck tuned? I see all these finger stick block plates on ebay. My lbz (3500) tows daily and has plenty power. I just want to stop pushing that crap through my motor multiple times. it's at 150k and I'm noticing buildup on the turbo internals and everywhere else inside.
@@nickpizzoferrato sorry for the late reply, and I’m sure you found your answer by now. However I’ll still answer your question! You don’t necessarily have to have the truck retuned after an EGR delete. However the truck was already tuned tuned, so he contacted his tuner and they shut the “check engine” light off for him!

Do you get better mileage with the delete?
You showed us 2 different year models. These things you spoke about are the same across both models? I have a 05 lly. I'm really new to these trucks and wanna learn everything I can, so sorry if I sound ignorant. Also I can't figure out what kind of delete kit to purchase. There are many that include different parts and components. I dont know which kit to buy. Thanks for your help.
The emmison system (egr) is almost the exact same on both the trucks. Only difference is how the cold side boost pipe is routed! Welcome to the DMAX family!

I have an 05 lly as well, did you end up deleting your truck? If you did can you help me out or do you recommend a certain kit? What all do I have to get if I want to do a full delete, not just the blocker plate ? And I want to tune it with efi live I just don’t know where to get it done, im in Houston Texas btw

What codes do you have with that check engine light?
It was in because of all the EGR sensors unplugged. I had my tuner turn the light off
Thank you for the video, very helpful! Does your dad’s truck show engine light with egr blocker plate installed or would you still need to run a tune to fool the ecu into thinking the egr wasn’t blocked?
John Vaughn mine has the plate and it throws an insufficient EGR flow code on my monitor but no light on. They make a thing called a “finger” that basically tricks your computer into thinking it’s working probably. Fingers are around 70

Are you running the truck without a tube for the EGR? How is the truck not in limo mode
How do i clear the limp mode
So blocker plate is the way to go
The egr cooler is completely gone! If you use just a plate it will crack the up pipe. Either pull the up pipe out and weld the hole shut where it would go to the cooler. Or get an LB7 up pipe and you’ll be able to bolt it right up! To turn the light off, you’ll have to get with a tuner to have it shut off!
Great video. Are you running a 4 or 5 inch exhaust? I have a 2015 duramax and I'm trying to decide which setup I want.
I’m running a 3 inch down pipe to a 5 inch straight pipe with a 7 inch cat stack
What tuner would you recommend to use after doing this. I'm looking to do a delete on my lbz and im having a super hard time finding info online. Would Really appreciate it. Or even just a idea on where to find the info. Thanks
I recommend EFI live with a 5 position switch and running Starlite tunes. The tunes are awesome and great customer service

What's the name of the full delete kit
There’s several companies that make them. Wehrli Fab, HSP, are a few companies that I recommend

When you say half limp mode do you mean like the truck runs fine it’s just super slow ? That’s what’s happening with me I have a 05

Good info. You might want to get rid of that intake though. It's WAY worse than the factory set up. Your under hood temps can get well over 200 degrees in the summer and all that hot air is getting sucked right into that open filter and then heated even more but the turbo. Factory air box flows good to over 500 HP and draws air from outside the engine bay. Unless your looking to make 600+ HP, aftermarket cold air intakes are a waste of money. Of course, yours is a hot air intake😁
The truck has been upgraded a lot since since this video! I’m no longer running that intake
