I just wanted to say I really appreciate your analysis and thoughts on this show. I'm a huge fan of both symbolism and "show don't tell" type of series, so Sonny Boy is exactly my cup of tea. That was a fantastic recap, and I gather it'll help us allign our perspective on the extended cast during ensuing discussions and analysis. I do wish for several more students, and particularly the few adults we've seen thus far, to be further fleshed out and picked apart by the community. If anything, I am curious what sort of place will they and our protagonist carve for themselves in this, or any world.
Best of the season imo, even tho I don't understand it. At the beginning of the latest episode with 'ants', Radjani looks unstable at the beginning, tho by the end he seems to have controlled his personal issues
I think we'll have to look back at a lot of stuff at the end of the season to understand. My initial read on Rajdhani during the ants thing was that he has been watching the other students in the same way he was watching those ants, and now that everyone is splitting he is having a little crisis; it's manifesting as a freakout over the ants, though.
i have a question. i am a very hard core anime fan that likes these sort of type of animes, but seriously why no one covering this anime up? like the famous people myanimeman didn't even talked about this anime. it's so underrated it irritate me. please explain
I can't speak for anyone else, but to me this is a really hard text to analyze. There is so much going on and so little hand-holding for the audience. I've got one more video coming out for it, but it's been a real struggle to write due to the density and ambiguity of the series.
Just want to remind you that aki-sensei in here is not a teacher, Yamabiko(the dog guy) say that the students are the only one who drifted, when he said that, we can see her skirt for a second.
or Cap has no power at all, maybe he just hide something, without stealing it, and then he says that he created it. Rajdhani at some point created also solar panels, didn't he?
Definitely possible for Cap with the power, though Hayato's list suggests some pretty outlandish things he can make with it besides the curry, must be coming from somewhere. As for the solar panels, I think he got those from Mizuho -- he had them when he was still using the radio tower/antenna and before they understood how the blue-fires worked. We don't see them again after they burn up in episode 2, but instead some of his inscrutable machines and some wires running around his area.
I disagree with your interpretation of Pony as a bad leader. You gave a lot of examples of her being a good leader then concluded that she isn't one already. She was entitled and the other students didn't have faith in her. But she did make a good leader. She just has no charisma. What the show is trying to say with this I think, and you said yourself, is that people value charisma too much. There are a lot of examples of leaders that people turn too but who are ultimately inept or malicious. The leader of the tower of babel who couldn't offer real hope so enslaved the people who relied on him. The fake teacher. The entire first episode.
