      @Angel Greaves Nope she is Australian as well as Korean. It's a complete false statement. Even Rosé herself says that she is Australian. Being born in New Zealand doesn't mean she is Kiwi. She moved to Australia when she was 7 or 8. And her complete family lives in Australia. And she has Australian and Korean citizenship. And her whole family lives in Australia as Aussie citizens.

    Jisoo is fully korean, Jennie was born in korea but moved to new zealand and later moved back to korea for her trainee days, rosé was born in New Zealand and moved to Australia, Lisa was born in thailand.
    In their live performances they have normally just put background vocals +the normal instrumental background… no mic things..
    What you can hear in the background is backing vocals like higher and lower vocals casually in the studio version or the reverb from the studio version… and at the beginning of a verse or the ending there is sometimes the backing vocal..

  • @rylujca4092
    @rylujca4092 4 ปีที่แล้ว +230

    I think you're gonna run into heavy use of backing track a lot in k-pop. Since dancing is so so important, it's more important to miss a few lines and nail the choreo - which is why the backing track is necessary.
    Also if you could react to Loona best live vocals that would be amazing

    • @kalige_al
      @kalige_al 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I agree but it’s a different thing if you don’t have much dancing and the backing track is LOUDER than your voice. For example bts always have intense choreo but their backing track is never louder than their voices and you can always hear how stable they are. No hate, I just think some groups should really use the backing track and perform choreo wisely. I don’t think blackpink are good performers for many reasons, but I think they sound nice doing acoustic versions)

      most of bp’s performances have heavy backtracks, so heavy that you can barely hear their voices. almost all of Somi’s performances i’ve seen were lip synced.
      even YGs newer group treasure, from what i’ve seen, barely gets a sound out during performances. i haven’t seen everything but from a few performances i saw they were either lip syncing or using backtrack.

    They actually have their songs in Japanese versions as well, so when they sing, they sing in Japanese and rap in English for them. Jennie said that it's difficult for her and Lisa to "spit out a lot of words" in a short amount of time in either language.

    it's called code-switching, when a person can speak two or more languages interchangeably in the same conversation. It's not difficult if you're already relatively fluent in both languages. i'm bilingual (Afrikaans (home), English (second)) and i regularly mix both languages cuz sometimes things sound better in English, other times it sounds better in your mother tongue.

    Brilliant video.
    One thing, the reason you’ll find a lot of help on the backing is because the actual digital tracks change the voices so much, and make them slightly more electrical sounding, that if they did go fully live, the song would lose so much of it’s kick.
    However, YG Artists (them), aren’t allowed to lip sync, so while they do usually have a backing, they HAVE to sing live along with it. There’s usually just a lot of playback. As well as that, they’re dancing quite a lot as well, so if they sang AND danced fully live, it would probably be quite breathless/broken.
    They did go fully live, no playback, no auto tune, nothing when they were at the Inkigayo Music Awards, correct me if I’m wrong, for How You Like That, which was really good, and they performed DDU DDU there with minimal backing too.
    Other than that, absolutely brilliant video, I love watching your videos because you’re really nice and honest.
    Keep up the great work! :)

    Just a little FYI , But in any kpop, it's very rare to see a live performance without any track. This is mainly because of the choreography and the mics capturing any breathing which could distract from the performance. All groups will tend to have some backing vocals, with different volume percentages. Or just track on specific lines. This gives the illusion of a stable, perfect performance and helps the artist to catch their breath for more key lines. Also, depending on who is doing the mixing , sometimes the performance audio could be mixed to have more live vocals in it , but in the studio editing to upload on youtube , they might change the mix. What might be noticeable in kpop performances too is the members with deeper colour to their voices might have more support from backing vocals because it's easier to push out higher notes while dancing. Love the reaction and hope you can look into more kpop.

    BP is known to wear two mic packs for that 'tuning' reason and why you felt you could hear 3-4 of Jisoo. One mic pack is for the mic itself, the secondary pack we always see is autotune/matches the live vocals with recorded vocals mixed at the same pitch.
    They always sound incredible but ive watched so many performances noticing where if they stop singing into the mic too soon, the recorded vocal also stopped, and when they would sing into the mic, you'd hear them align with the recorded track seamlessly.
    some genius technological coding by their team i guess

      @@isitmeoryou2543 exactly. Problem sometimes, especially on live music shows the backing tracks are mixed in too much, which is not fair on the girls I think. Of course backing tracks help thicken there voices but they need to pull them back. Coachella was mixed really good as was tokyo dome, accept when Hope Not played Jennie didnt even sing, she just wanted to throw toys out to the blinks ..lol.. there i would have turned her backing track off.

      @Becca I found this: She had a hand in writing the stay lyrics as she said it herself in one of her vlogs. YG was caught red handed changing the subtitles after the fact to hide it. Keep in mind Teddy is a very powerful producer in Korea, so the more you share in credits the less royalties you receive for songs you had a part in.
