I’m trying to start prospecting but I wanted to check some of the current top players to see what their cards go for. Why is someone like Rafael Devers 1st bowman chrome base card only go for around $10-12 when someone like MJ Melendez(who I love) goes for the same or more. I’m very confused on how they are valued and if these cards will retain value?
Devers has already reached his ceiling for the most part, MJ’s is still up in the air. Prospecting values are based on hype and what could be most of the time, not what is, if that makes any sense.
It's all hyped up foolishness. You would think an established super stud like devers, that his first bowman card would be around $25 or $30. Then you have these unproven bozos in which people pay through the roof for, it's stupid. Ripping packs is fun. Collect your rookies, store them and wait. Do not go on ebay or card shops to get scammed. Been collecting for 40 + years and 90% of high rated prospects do not pan out, trust me. Hope this helped.
"Wonder" how much higher the print run will be this year for "Wanders" cards? Topps series one is the highest printed baseball set each year. Should have been in update. Will people grade these to the moon now that the market is down.
I believe they did too. Unfortunately it made update debut with a thud. There will be a TON of Wanders between base, parallels, and numbered. Make the number of Louis Roberts look like child's play.
That contract Wander has is back loaded. Hes only gonna make 5M over the next 3 years then jump up to 8M in 2025 which would be the first year he's arbitration eligible. Id be shocked if the Rays actually hold on to him for the entire duration of his contract. I could see him end up in Miami if things dont work out in TB.
