Hi rache!! 1st the contour filter works best for round faces not long faces ( see robert welch's explanation) so its ok that it didnt work for you! 2nd the patches on your skin can be melasma which is supper common and happens when your hormones change! Nothing to worry about there! :)
I had those same spots where pigment wouldn't stick until I changed up my routine. I was over hydrating and using a gel contour over top. Now I opt for less skincare under my makeup switched to a powder contour and it looks fine!
I have been waiting for someone to try out these exact hacks, so thank you! The brows look good I think, and the powder over the mist is like a texture eraser 😍, but that's the only step I'd use out of everything! The leg that you used the gloves on does look a tiny bit darker, but the leg that you used the mitt on was definitely smoother/more even!
Yes, that's a lot of steps & a lot of products. I don't think I'd use that much either. Narrowing it down for what you need would be better. Other than too much product, I think it looked good Rachel, even the cheeks & brows. From a distance at least. Close up you can definitely see too much product. Then again, your standard routine works well for you too, & it looks more natural. I agree with you on the legs, Racheal H.
I had those spots on my cheek where certain products just wouldn’t stick to. Turns out it’s from your skin being a little too raw from exfoliating. The texture is different
Oooh I can feel the frustration burning out of the screen and I can completely relate to having one of those days. Ugh! What a trooper Rachel is to keep powering through to the end of the video! 👏🏻 🤗
For the contour/brozer filter-- your face shape is already close to the "ideal" face shape for women! This hack elongates the face, so it is more suitable for those with rounder face shapes. Definitely something to be proud of that this hack isn't for you!❤
The reason the contour placement doesn't work is face shape. It works great on Nikkie tutorials because she's got a round face. It doesn't look the best on longer face shapes. It works beautifully for me because I've got a rounder cheek shape. I've been doing this for nearly 30 years.
The flawless face routine: Put on moisturizer Apply rosehip oil Elf Putty primer Cream highlighter all over the face Peach under-eye corrector Foundation Concealer Cream Contour/ bronzer Cream blush in center of forehead, & on nose Setting powder Set w/ powder bronzer & blush Hydrating mist/ setting spray Let dry Put powder on textured areas Bronzer hack: Find end of cheeckbone, put a little dot, then blend up & away Self tanner hack: using latex gloves to spread the product
Your eyebrows before you do anything to them is goals for me. I'm personally not a fan of fluffy brows on anyone. I'm in LOVE with your brows at the beginning of this video 😍
I do use rosehip oil daily underneath makeup. Just 1-2 drops before my SPF, and let it sink in while I’m doing my hair. I find it’s the best primer for my super dry skin and it sits beautifully under makeup. I don’t use foundation or primer though, just concealer and cream highlight, bronzer and blush, and a little powder under my eyes.
I LOVE putting hydrating mists, toners and setting sprays in those continuous misters from Sally Beauty. GAME CHANGER. I also use them for pottery and plants. Basically my favourite. Even, constant and light mist.
I need to find that mister! Thanks 😊 I have an Elf setting spray & the sprayer broke, so I just put it in another spray bottle, but I think that mister would work better.
Vitamin D is great to help with these spots because it will help shrink the size. You probably notice them less in the summer because of that. But for a lot of people the size will increase with stress too.
Legit drenched after your hydrating mist. I felt that with you. Your hair had little water pellets all over. Hahaha this video is a goodie. “We’re not going to cry “.
The brow contour filter is what they do on your brows when they’re prepping you for them to be microbladed ☺️ my brows fit spot on into the filter because I had microblading
K, so I can't be the only person who cannot stop thinking "if the filter is making everyone's brows higher, maybe the filter is wrong...not your brows"??? Also, the filter moves every time you move. They literally will *never* give you the same spot every time, even on the same person. The filter moves whenever you move, so you really won't get the same thing every time, even if you do it perfectly(without moving your head side to side even, so its legit not even possible to do perfectly)
You can basically recreate the brow filter. In theory it is the correct shape for the face width, the height can be off tho. The filter pretty much just guesstimates from what parts of the brow it recognizes on the face. As for the recreation: You could put a pen/brush (anything long and pretty thin) vertically directly next to your nose bridge, thats where the brow should begin. Then put the pen under the edge of your nose and point it trough the middle of your eye, thats where the arch is supposed to be lined up. For the end point, it should line up with your pen, when you put it from under the side of the nose (again) directly to the outer corner of the eye. Pretty sure I learned this from @hofoshoo on tiktok, cant find the video tho so I could be wrong xD
The eyebrow filter looked super slanted to me which I feel is why your arches were so different. Also, I have never heard the "orchid or dandelion child" thing but upon hearing you explanation I realize I for sure have an "orchid child", lol.
I'm freaking obsessed with the Love my Selfie foundation. I got an Ipsy sample and other foundations don't remotely compare. I have combo-oily skin and it's so lightweight.
I had the exact problem with a patch where makeup would absolutely not stick. I started working with a National makeup artist shortly after this problem started & he told me a couple things, 1 is that they were dry patches even though they did not flake nor did they look or feel dry. The 2nd issue was applying makeup over wouldn't stick because my serum & moisturizer were not absorbing past the dry patches so it was basically hovering just under the surface so everything would just rub right off as I was applying makeup. I started using a gentle toner with exfoliating enzymes, put some extra focus on the problem area when I was using a micro granule exfoliant & used some extra night serum & moisturizer just in the trouble spots. Within a week the spots were gone. After I had been on the counter for a while I started seeing it was pretty common. When I was promoted a lot of artists I worked with called this "hot spots" I guess when you're painting pottery if you come across a spot where paint won't stick that's what it's called which is where the "hot spot" term came from.
From what I’ve seen with the brow filter, you have to make the marks while keeping your face straight or else your brows will be a bit wonky. :) I think your brows looked quite good though!!
I need to use a chemical exfoliant on it first, layer super heavy eczema cream on, let it sink in and then either use a brush or Pat it gently on. It's so annoying
I love the makeup! You look gorgeous (as usual). I think it may feel weirdly high but it looks really pretty and lifting. I started putting blush on my temples because I saw it on a TH-cam video, and sure enough it does look lifting.
I went to high school in the early 80’s and wore my blush high like that. We didn’t bronze, tho. When you put on the blush I thought, “What’s wrong with that?”😆😆😆😆
I've had those same blotches for the last couple months as well since I've been using cream products. I have pretty dry skin, so I don't know if that's what causes the issue. However, my dry skin loves using all cream products. I think I'm going to start blending with a sponge and not brushes
I used the latex glove method for a quick last-minute self tanner several days ago. I love it! For me, I found it much easier than the mitt. I always come off with streaks using a mitt, and the glove method looked flawless. I would say to either layer up the gloves or try a smaller size to reduce/eliminate the wrinkles and make application a little easier.
I shaved that part of my brow when Jenna Marbles first did it and I've never looked back! It grows back super fast, I use Anastasia brow pomade and it looks great you should give it a chance!
Now I’m curious if you used those silicone dish gloves with the little scrubber bits would work better for your self tanner. Best of both worlds of minimizing waste but being able to buff it gently into the skin? Don’t plan to try it as I’ve accepting I’m not meant to be tan, but curious.
Hello. My week in one word? Awesome. Weather was good and work is amazing. I work at a cat cafe! Cats everywhere. I have just found your channel, and love it. Thanks.
Holy cow, I'm so glad you didn't shave the ends of your beautiful brows off!!! I was talking to the screen saying, NO Rachel, don't do it! Although I did get a good laugh out of, that is the OW in BROW 🤣
Yes! Great decision. I have a friend who shaved her brows in the 80's (different shapes were a thing then, apparently) & now she has to draw them in, as she doesn't have brows anymore. Not saying that would happen with shaving them once, but if you didn't like the effect you'd still have a good wait until they grew back in.
I am LOVING the brows just need to make your left brow a bit lighter in the front to match the right brow (; but I love the way you did them. Also I am so happy you did not mess with the tails of your brows because they are look good where they are!
You should try the olaplex products, since you've tried the custom shampoo/conditioner from function of beauty I think this would be another great product line to try
I tried the glove method for self tan and absolutely loved it. The darkest, most blended self tan I’ve ever obtained. Also used dramatically less product
Rachel what is the sponge you used to put on your foundation? I've been looking for one like that! Did I miss it in the description? 🔍 Thanks for the fun videos. 🤜
I also have the same issues with those little spots. If you find something to help cover them please do tell. They are very frustrating because it makes my blush and bronzer look patchy. 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
I know I'm super late watching this video.. but I love your brows!!! My brow hair is thick but too many years of plucking makes them too thin. They also grow down!! I've tried so many products and can't find anything to work!! Yours look especially nice in this video!
Glad you didn't shave your brows! The brow filter is meant to be used without eye makeup on, as it was registering the wing of your eyeliner as the end of your eye, if you used it without eyeliner on it would have been shorter and closer to your natural eyebrow tail 😁
Something about this base made your usually lovely, dewy skin look older, it might have been the bronzer thing but it just looked off. I much prefer how you normally look, you know your face better than a filter does
I have the same thing, even on the same side as you. When i put make-up on it, it stays white, like the make-up can't colour it. I can see it the most when I put blush on.
What was the other color corrector? What brand? Also,,,, that’s where I always put my bronzer and I always put my blush high like that. I didn’t like all the products under the foundation. I think ur skin is beautiful and all the glowy oil products made the foundation look cakey. Looks like it made the foundation move and lift off when u put on the cream bronzer and blush on. U should try the bronzer and blush hack without the other stuff under the foundation. I’m older than u and it does lift the face. The brows look good. What were the apps?
@racchloves Honestly loved filter look that suggested a shave, could retry by just concealing unwanted brow area for a semi-true perspective, (do like your brows better this way) difficult to keep still for tech to properly map your face while you want to look to the side 🤪, loved this hope u consider one more go…
Hey Rachel! When you use like a new brow routine and ask for our opinion..could you please insert a picture or sth from your usual way to do brows? That would help a lot! :) I like both 😊
I got brave and shaved off the tails of my brows and I finally, for the first time in my life, love my brows!!! It turns out, the tails of my brows being so low, was what I've always hated in my photos. But I had no idea until I completely changed them. Now I have to do them every time I wash my face, but honestly, worth it!
I like the technique you look super lifted and foxy eyed. You need to use a cooler and slightly darker contour for it to work better though. Like the elf contour palette has good shades for this technique, you also have to blend with sweeping upward, otherwise it will just go down again. All of those oils are a no for me though
I wonder if the filter apps gave you slightly off placements based on the camera angle. You’re absolutely right that the brows were projected (marked? dotted lines?) uneven. Maybe switching back and forth between hands a few times will help get the placement even? Fingers crossed that works & you get two dandelion brows.
"That's too much blush!" -- words I never thought I'd hear Rachel say 😂
😆😆 Same!
Hi rache!! 1st the contour filter works best for round faces not long faces ( see robert welch's explanation) so its ok that it didnt work for you! 2nd the patches on your skin can be melasma which is supper common and happens when your hormones change! Nothing to worry about there! :)
Haha I was just about to suggest Robert Welsh's review!
Robert Welsh not Welch :)
My first thought was “What would Robert W. say?” concerning these hacks. 😂
She's talking about product not sticking. So its not melasma
I also mentioned his review. We all think alike lol.
I had those same spots where pigment wouldn't stick until I changed up my routine. I was over hydrating and using a gel contour over top. Now I opt for less skincare under my makeup switched to a powder contour and it looks fine!
I’d rather have more skincare
@@CherrrrBear for me my regular skincare routine has to be different from my makeup skin prep
@@ashleymoody2441 actually that's a great point! Makes total sense snd I didn't even think about that 😀
I laughed more than usual with this video… but, “the ow part of my brow” got me good 😂😂😂
I definitely like these brows better, I think they frame your face better than usual!
I agree! I think the tails so go a little more up than she did though
I love how she is so honest about everything!
I think the blush and bronzer looks great on you with that placement honestly!!!! But I think how you do it normally looks great too!!!!
Congratulations on 1000 videos! You are truly a bright light in the scary internet world!
I have been waiting for someone to try out these exact hacks, so thank you! The brows look good I think, and the powder over the mist is like a texture eraser 😍, but that's the only step I'd use out of everything!

The plastic gloves side was a few shades darker and more brown toned than the mitt application, which ended up more orangey and lighter.
For the contour/brozer filter-- your face shape is already close to the "ideal" face shape for women! This hack elongates the face, so it is more suitable for those with rounder face shapes. Definitely something to be proud of that this hack isn't for you!❤

Put on moisturizer

Cream Contour/ bronzer
Cream blush in center of forehead, & on nose

Set w/ powder bronzer & blush
Hydrating mist/ setting spray
Let dry
Put powder on textured areas
Bronzer hack:
Find end of cheeckbone, put a little dot, then blend up & away
Self tanner hack: using latex gloves to spread the product
Your eyebrows before you do anything to them is goals for me. I'm personally not a fan of fluffy brows on anyone. I'm in LOVE with your brows at the beginning of this video 😍

@@vnokesCO it’s so good!! They have a few sizes.
Hi Rachel! For the random spots, it might be tinea versicolor. I have it too and nothing can cover it! It tends to show up more on tan skin.
I have the same thing too!
Vitamin D is great to help with these spots because it will help shrink the size. You probably notice them less in the summer because of that. But for a lot of people the size will increase with stress too.
Oh and the gripping primers from CoverFx and Dermablend work great for getting makeup to cover the spots too.
For self tanner I use the mitt, but have it ever so slightly wet. That way it doesn't absorb all the product and I find it blends way easier.

Definitely the mitt leg! Not so much for the depth of tan but because it looks very consistent & smooth.
I like the brows!! And the higher bronzer does lift your face!
I love how she's having a frustrated conversation with herself and the camera about the makeup placement with that filter 😂 Adorable!
