In 1994 I bought a San Pedro with an instruction for its preparation. Over the years I've somewhat finessed "my" method* and erased certain unnecessary steps with the aim to reduce superfluous steps and to minimize the horrible taste**. K Trout, who is a very knowledgeable and reliable source about all things cacti, stated that his research indicated most of the desired alkaloids are within the epidermal layer. His testing did not find a significant percentage within the pith or core.
You could extract it from cactus. Requires some basic chemistry, but in short you process similar to described, then add more water and make basic. Then add something that pills the free base out like hexane. Separate, dry the hexane and use dry HCl gas to make a salt of pure mescaline. Can be purified even more by recrystalizing from dry isopropyl alcohol.❤
TLDR: you cant overheat things if you keep them wet, if your goods dry out while they are still on heat your screwed! Water boils and turns to steam at 212F. This may sound obvious, but the steam is carrying excess heat away. This stops the solution from ever going above the boiling point of the liquid (water in this case). So it doesn't matter if someone boils for an hour or 18 days, the temp is never going to get above the boiling point of the water. The thing to watch out for would be boiling the water out becomes then the temp can spike to what ever temp the heat source is, which will definitely destroy alkaloids. Thing about making mashed potatoes on the stove, if you are not stirring well you can burn the potatoes on the bottom of the pot. That happens because the potatoes on the bottom dry out and they can now get to hot. Same goes for cactuses, anything burnt to the bottom of the pot when you are done is wasted. be extra carful when you are concentrating your cactus juice, if you let it dry out while its still on the stove you definitely can destroy all of the Alkaloids.
Enjoy the video! Always wondered how this work. Would love to start growing san pedro myself. The wife already grows some cacti, she enjoys them much more than normal house plants lol peace and love brother ✌️
I have just done this method and thank you for uploading this video; very easy to follow and complete. I am having a little trouble as to know how far to boil the end product down to achieve the 1oz dosage. I have boiled it down a 19inch San Pedro into about one glass full of dark green liquid but am unsure if I need to keep reboiling down or not to concentrate it more? Just a little worried about taking too much and blacking out. Can you give me any tips on how much I should boil it down or whether drinking this whole glass would be safe? Just need some guidance. Cheers for the awesome video mate.
The cactus concentrates alkloids near the skin as it is a natural pesticide and tastes bitter to anomals. To pull simply despine, blend up with a durable blender. Add an acid till its slightly acidic. Freeze and thaw. Strain and boil down. If you want pure alkloids strain the juice. Cover the strained stuff with distilled water till its not bitter. Combine it all and make basic to PH of 14. Next add 100ml of nonpolar like hexane. Shake gently for 30 minutes. Do this dayly fot 3 to 5 days. Separate the basic part and the hexane. That has the alkloids in it. Take this and add about 1 gram per 100ml of dried epsom salt and shake. Let set for a day. Next make a HCl gas generator and bubble it through your hexane/alkloids. After a while it will look like its smowing in the bottle after this starts continue bubbling for 5 minutes then stop adding gas and let it rest tightly closed. The snowing stuff is mescaline hydrochloride. It can be purified even more by disolving in boiling water free alcohol tilk it just disolved, then covering and put in the freezer. It will give crystals that look a lot like sugar. If you cool slowly it makes larger needle llike crystals. ❤
From my experience, if you chuck the stars in a bowl and freeze & thaw you dont even need to blend. It also eliminates the slime that can develop. Why this is, IDK but anything that makes filtering a breeze is a godsend for me. .

One of the best cooking tutorials I've seen and I've watched a lot. Question - my cactus is approximately 20 inches long by 2 inch wide. How many doses should that equate to?
Length of cactus (1-3ft) to remaining liquid = dosage...so consider if you brew a given length say 2 ft for discussion, brew it in a given volume of liquid then condense it to a given amount say 5 oz it's 5 oz/dose. so say you process 21 ft. and condense it to say 14 oz you divide 21 by 3 ( I always did 3 per dose) you have 7. 14 divided by 7 = 2 oz...still tho this vid takes some extra steps so his methos probably is more efficient in total extraction then what I discovered back in my days of trials..haven't done this in a long while so we're building on a foundation of knowledge. have a good flight! I'll add I used a juice extractor and used all liquid in the cactus. no water added. used the entire cactus too nothing wasted.
Hello I love your video, I have a question I hope you can help me with. I followed your procedures to make the cactus tea. I started with three 18 cactus pieces. I blended and boiled 2 times for over 6 hours. The tea was a light green. Then I reduced the tea to about 2 cups. Due to the concentration the tea became dark green. I then put it into a glass jar and refrigerated with plan’s for my birthday next weekend. I noticed a white fine sediment at the bottom of the jar after it was sitting. Is the white sediment the alkaloid? I will stir it before drinking. Thanks

Badass video bro, thanks for sharing some of your wisdom, I just bought a cactus and I’m going to do it your way and give this crazy shit a try!🤢🤮😝 Any suggestions on what to do on your first time taking this?
Yes be really careful, especially if you’re working with a cactus you haven’t tried. Take a little, and wait for 2.5 hours before taking more. Blackouts happen quite often. Also it last forever so start early
I'm very curious but can you explain or make video on how we have to create the resins exactly? I'm very curious about how you create some good resins! Thank you very much! 😊🙏🏼🌵

Great video and subscribed. Gonna try this method today. Have some that I've been growing forever but wanted to get a good preparation method before I cut it. Had a question on the garbled sound in the warning part though, is that something utube did?? would think they would let that part be known?
Hi, hope you don’t mind me asking- For example, if someone has options to purchase San Pedro in powder....900gr, 350gr, or 200gr, it’s a pack of Trichocereus peruvianus in powder form.. if 3 people are trying this, what is the beginner dosage for each person and which option amount is best to purchase for 3 people? And Does it go bad the powder after certain time and storage recommended? I’d appreciate your help🙏🏻 Two people have tried this in Costa Rica after their ayahuasca ceremony. And 1 is first time trying it.. Just trying to figure out the dosage to begin with in powder form. :) I hope I make sense..
Start with 30 dried grams. Cactus range in potency. Knowing the species doesnt help much. 30 grams per person won't be overwhelming for ,ost people, but blackouts on mescaline happen, and can last 20 hours. You don't want that. so allow lots of time (3hrs) before drinking more
@@Illumignostic ...Wow! Thank you so much! Appreciate your time🙏🏻 This truly helps a lot. How often is it ok to take San Pedro? Only once per month? Twice? I told my friends how about every full moon Again, grateful for your knowledge and help🙏🏻
@@nikkinick6762 it depends uon the person. Ive taken it once a week, for periods. Twice a year is common. Mescaline is pretty toxic, so one or twice a week would be max, I suppose. If you are training to become a huachumero, often you have to drink every other day for a year
Great video 👍 When I leave my San Pedro tea in the fridge it separates with a clear black watery stuff at the top and thick green sediment at the bottom. I was hopeful the sediment was waste and I could drink just the black stuff, or does it all contain mescaline?
Great info as always! I've had some cactus for about a year which I dehydrated and ground up into course powder. I'm not really sure what to do with it. Would you recommend trying this method to bring it back to life?
What do you think about freezing the tea/goo and then swallowing the ice chunks quickly to bypass most of the taste? Basically wash them down in frozen form with juice instead of drinking the foul brew?
Hey man, love the video. I got a question- how long is the tea good for? Like if i make it, how long would it be fine to have and still be able to use? Thanks man
Hi. I was wondering does it matter what type of cultivar the San Pedro cactus is? I am looking to order it online and want to make sure that I purchase the right one. Thanks!
I'm already in the process so this will be for future attempts for me but I have a few questions. When you boil the broth down, and get the plant matter and liquid, which are you using? I was under the impression you want the liquid but apparently that block of plant resin stuff is golden too? Also, should one stir their mixture as it boils? Thank you for the video brother!
I usually cut it into star shapes and cookie cutter out the middle part. The skin comes off easily in the star shapes too. Freezing it is a good idea too. It also breaks down the cellular structure making extraction more efficient. Is there any way to make it taste better? Have you tried honey or anything
@@danielrastavillanueva4164 the cactus mash you blend up then mix with water and boil it down. i've never boiled it down enough to get a resin i'm scared i would burn it.
With Trichocereus bridgesii (bolivian San Pedro) a piece like that would be enough for 2 to 4 steong doses and you need to to do just 2 pulls simmering diced green flesh 1 hour for each pull and then reduce and filter to obtain a shot per dose of clear golden and very bitter but otherwise not vile at all tea.
@@Illumignostic Of course, but I find pure bridgesii, the classic skinny with long yellow spines kind, to be the most consistently potent, especially when stressed. Bridgesii monster short form clone B is even more potent and has tested recently at 6.5% of dry weight in mescaline.
So you're converting the alkaloids into the acetate salt to make it water soluble? Like mescaline acetate instead of mescaline? Since vinegar is 5% acetic acid.
I'm in the process of becoming a shaman my self! I'm going to make a hyperbaric chamber and use subwoofers to hit certain frequencies depending on what benefit the person needed. You seem very cool and i am indeed down to clown lol do you happen to stay in Michigan? I'm just getting into the cacti's as Lucy, boomers and Dr. Dimitri haven't been touching me like they used to. Outside in the sun?
Or inside in a cool place, out of the sunlight?
I see you have a whole bundle of cut cactus that looks like it's been cut years ago.
Much Gratitude Mate, I just became a Subscriber
Thanks for subscribing! You can put it in a cool dry place for at least a year it will stay alive. You can cut it into thin pieces and dry after that. Cheers!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Do you use those pieces thst are in the video, sitting around outside like firewood?
@@markbluthedoctor7617 yes
Hahaha dig the sleep intro, good info!
Awesome video ... thank you so much for all you do. Peace ♥❤
Cheers 🥂
Does the freeze/ thaw method still work after you make the purée?
Thank you, your vids are very informative.
You must freeze/thaw before purée to remove skin
@@Illumignostic and by that you mean 18 inches of all of that cactus? So you mean an 18 in cactus is the dose per person?
@@andrewcollins208 correct
Should be quite strong
Thank you
very good video, thank you
Cheers!
Have you tried extracting alkaloids with pressure-cooker?
Afraid not
Thanks brother, you make it sound easy …lol…peace…
Probably because it am tho.👽
Amazing.
Beautiful video, how long can you store San Pedro drink?
Longer than you will live. Just boil if it ferments
Opening up with sleep 🤌🤌🤌🤌👌👌👌👌👌🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
Hail Satan
Badass video bro, thanks for sharing some of your wisdom, I just bought a cactus and I’m going to do it your way and give this crazy shit a try!🤢🤮😝 Any suggestions on what to do on your first time taking this?
Yes be really careful, especially if you’re working with a cactus you haven’t tried. Take a little, and wait for 2.5 hours before taking more. Blackouts happen quite often. Also it last forever so start early

I'm very curious but can you explain or make video on how we have to create the resins exactly? I'm very curious about how you create some good resins! Thank you very much! 😊🙏🏼🌵
It’s as simple as cooking all of the water out
Hey man just cooked some up now bro ended up doing the hash method how long does it last and how do I store it? Also is it OK if I go burnt bits mixed up amongst the gooey hash ? Sorry if that makes no sense
Yeah, it fine. Melt 10 g in warm water. Store for yesrd
Hi I followed every step but after talking the brew I just had a diarrhoea and no trip at all it's like it didn't work or I did something wrong I'm not really sure, do you have any idea of what went wrong coz I have no clue at all?
Wrong cactus maybe ?
Great video and subscribed. Gonna try this method today. Have some that I've been growing forever but wanted to get a good preparation method before I cut it. Had a question on the garbled sound in the warning part though, is that something utube did?? would think they would let that part be known?
I don’t remember
turn on c.c.
That's some good cooking 👍
Hi, hope you don’t mind me asking- For example, if someone has options to purchase San Pedro in powder....900gr, 350gr, or 200gr, it’s a pack of Trichocereus peruvianus in powder form.. if 3 people are trying this, what is the beginner dosage for each person and which option amount is best to purchase for 3 people?
And Does it go bad the powder after certain time and storage recommended?
I’d appreciate your help🙏🏻
Two people have tried this in Costa Rica after their ayahuasca ceremony.
And 1 is first time trying it..
Just trying to figure out the dosage to begin with in powder form. :)
I hope I make sense..
Twice?
I told my friends how about every full moon
Again, grateful for your knowledge and help🙏🏻
@@nikkinick6762 it depends uon the person. Ive taken it once a week, for periods. Twice a year is common. Mescaline is pretty toxic, so one or twice a week would be max, I suppose. If you are training to become a huachumero, often you have to drink every other day for a year
So if going the powder rout do you just mix it in with water and drink it or do you still need to boil it with vinegar?
@@nikkinick6762 🤣🙃🤘👹🤟
Great video 👍
When I leave my San Pedro tea in the fridge it separates with a clear black watery stuff at the top and thick green sediment at the bottom.
I was hopeful the sediment was waste and I could drink just the black stuff, or does it all contain mescaline?
I would mix and drink
Great info as always! I've had some cactus for about a year which I dehydrated and ground up into course powder. I'm not really sure what to do with it. Would you recommend trying this method to bring it back to life?
YOu could capsule 15-30 g's . and not have to drink it. Obviously you're going to need a lot more water to rehydrate cactus.
Can you put the powder in honey and mix it with a nice ginger tea bag and some hot water?
Email illumignosis111@gmail.com about our upcoming retreats in the Amazon.
I have some bridgesii in my garden and they are so strong, the piece you show in the vid would be a strong dose for like 10 persons...
@@ghostdog7575 you’re sitting on gold in terms of cuttings then. I’ve never heard of anything like that.
What do you think about freezing the tea/goo and then swallowing the ice chunks quickly to bypass most of the taste? Basically wash them down in frozen form with juice instead of drinking the foul brew?
Good idea
@Illumignostic Thanks! Also, I'm thinking of hiding the ice chips in jello cubes. Then you can just drink them down without tasting it at all.
Your awesome! Thank you for your teaching. Do you have any knowledge about Peruvian Torch?
It is roughly the same
Thank you. Such a dope hat.
Hey man, love the video. I got a question- how long is the tea good for? Like if i make it, how long would it be fine to have and still be able to use? Thanks man
Forever, really. If it smells fermented, reboil for a few minutes. It will last longer than you will live.
@@Illumignostic right on man, appreciate it
Love the intro music! SLEEP! 🤘🤘
The plant resin is just the concentrated liquid. Stir from time to time.
About time I had a wee wonder
What a great educational video! I had no idea about the vinegar (or lime) and thought straight water would be okay. Thanks!
Do you know if the brew can be frozen without damaging the solution or the chemical make up? Does post brew freezing affect it at all?
Nope
Freezing wil not hurt anything
How long would you say that you usually end up boiling the second and subsequent boils of the pulp to follow that initial one? On average?
@@gregoryroteik4150 1 hour, max. Alks come out pretty easily
@@Illumignostic cool brother. That’s what I was aiming for. Thanks again. I’m gonna experiment with that resin too.
I usually cut it into star shapes and cookie cutter out the middle part. The skin comes off easily in the star shapes too. Freezing it is a good idea too. It also breaks down the cellular structure making extraction more efficient.
Is there any way to make it taste better? Have you tried honey or anything
Cook it down to resin and put it in large capsules. No taste.
@@tjwoosta cool what to resin ? Pls tell me
Cook*
grapefruit juice.
@@danielrastavillanueva4164 the cactus mash you blend up then mix with water and boil it down. i've never boiled it down enough to get a resin i'm scared i would burn it.
For how long can I keep the medicine after It's ready? It's in the fridge for the last two weeks..
And that would be ayahuasca cooking like its a fucking tea pot or something. Love you man. Cool guy you are.
If I wanted to fill capsules, would I have to cook the outer layer first, or just cut, dry, powder and fill? Thank you. Yout email doesn't work
Illumignosis111@gmail.com? The answer is just cut dry encapsulate.
I got a green ish brownish liquid is that fine after cooking Mabye 2-3 shots here afte the brew cooked around 20 inchs
Strong is relative. Variation from cactus to cactus in my experience, even within species, is up to 10x, especially when dealing with wild cactus.
Me cook in jungle. Jungle no care about big words. Jungle make medicine
Would you recommend cooking one serving at a time or would the potency be relatively the same if at the end of the cook it is divided into servings?
