My father-in-law is a South Philly Italian. And tomato sauce is definitely gravy.
South Philly here we are!!!
I love your channel, you’re hilarious and I get a tour of your city and hidden places like that underground tunnel and the underground mall. Respect from Moncton New Brunswick, Canada
south philly wasnt just the italian part, it had italian , black, puerto rican, irish, Lithuanian, jewish, etc. neighborhoods before gentrification.
Yes CAPTAIN double parking has always been a tradition in South Phila...Plus not too mention home cook meals that one can get the aroma for the taste...
My neighborhood #SouthPhilly 7 skreet / Marshall skreet type chit
Good day PHILLY CAPTAIN on a Tues...Great short walk video showing us South Phila near Snyder Ave area...Very exciting and enjoyable tagging along with you per video...Ok have a good one and TOODLES...
Used to live at 7th and Kimball before I bounced over to 13th and Latona.
i used to live at Stella Maris which is 10th and Bigler. The Italians call it gravy everywhere, not just in Philly. The Captain knows his city!
No its not the rocky church that was at 17th and moore
Rocky went to see father carmine there and little Maria told him off there
Do my husband's neighborhood he's from 2 street. 2nd & Reed
Not Just Pizza a guy name Sal owns it thats the spot for pizza he used to have a store near 2nd and girard ave
Lol my mom used to say "who are THEY!?"
New York bakery and not just pizza… grew up with that.. my grandma lived right on 11th and tree across from New York bakery
Wow! It’s the complete opposite of Kensington❓
7th Street was a nice shopping area when I was a kid. My Mom would take me and my 4 siblings for a walk along there. Used to be a record store where I would buy 45 rpm records.
Yup Circus Circus was on 7th Synder. 7th rivaled east passyunk avenue back in the day. I'm 56yo my mom used to bring me up there for clothing and shoes all the time. They are actually cleaning it up a bit. With house pricing going thru roof a turn around is eventually inevitable
@@joelashadali I’m 70 and remember the 7th Street area in its heyday very well.
My late best friend is from Warrington and she called it gravy
Yoooo you walked by my street. I’m the street captain. You did pass by a few mobsters houses actually. Like you was on there ring bell
Capt.. New York Bakery makes great authentic tomato pie(cheese less pizza).
That's epiphany church. I think it's called gravy because of the fact it's cooked with meats. Sausage, beef, pork, brajole and naturally meatballs.
I love your videos yo
Seventh & Snyder, where the o ok d Yiddish theater was located was the heart of the kosher jewish market.
My dad started out at American Street and ended up at 7 th and Ritner.
I be going to the pal center that is right on 7th and Snyder i saw you while you was doing this
This is my neighborhood, the best Indian that tastes like those from my home nation (The UK) is just down from that Church. I'm used to all kinds of bad neighborhoods and crime etc but my god I was not ready for trying to find parking close to my house in Philly, especially as a night shift worker. As a Brit, I was also confused to why sauce was called gravy but as it was explained to me by my wife, it's only when marinara or whatever is cooked with meat and all its juices and drippings, otherwise it's just sauce.
It is Gravy…. Always and forever lol 🍝
Better known as the " P"
Go to 7th n snyder 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wasn't Rocky married at St.Joan of Arc
Whats going on bro
This area wasn't bad at all when I lived there. Quiet Italian community.
I’m from 10th and shunk kinda still the same just a lot of the old school Italians moved Mexicans and Chinese also we get alot of the junkies from 7th st because it’s like a border soon as you past 8th st from Snyder to porter . but most of the og people still around like us we been around there 30 years plus
Cooked with meat = gravy. No meat = sauce
Hey Captain, show us we’re Fast Eddie Savitz and go to 10th Snyder to see the house that Kensington built!
I did a few videos about uncle eddie
@@ThePhillyCaptain ; 🙏 👨🏼✈️
Sir, what is the verdict on 6th and Snyder? Is it sketchy? Thanks!
I would say a little
@@ThePhillyCaptain Thank you! I’m considering a house in the area.
Ya betta mind your matters, capice? Lol
What about 9th st in south philly...It seems to be an Italian community Is that considered the hood or a sketchy area
Why can't you do Port Richmond, Oxford Circle and Castor Gardens?
I have 100’s of videos in Port Richmond . I also made walking videos of the Oxford Circle and Castor Gardens. Check the archives
Do Garfield and Sherry ever boot cars in the Kensington area?
Fuck the PPE
I use to go to 4th and South back in the 8o's via nativeof Virginia..the first time i went i got into a street fight with another female my age who pushed a senior woman who had metal rods in her fore arm i had never seen such hardware in a human ... i wasnt letting her go unscathed
I kicked her ass in her own neighbor hood we protect THEM FROM HARM our handicap and SENIORS
REGARDLESS & PROTOCOL
Sadly a very good dude I knew was stabbed and killed at the wawa on Delaware Ave late Sunday nite. He was a local musician and bartender at wooly mammoth on south street. Stay vigilant and safe out there.
Yeah it's that thin strip between 4th and 9th and between Porter and Tasker that is sketchy, other than that, South Philly east of Broad is fine.
Yep, Cambodia town
This guy ain't from Philly
7st is bad a lil past synder but south philly is decent enough
Stay out my hood
No
Calm down bro
Nope
