    you might have it figured by now, but it sounds like it's running on one cylinder, after you gave it throttle it opened up. the idle jet is plugged on one side. to check which side, you can run it for a few seconds and feel both sides of the engine

    Hang in there brother.. you will get it. Nice bike you got there and a good one for learning on as well as riding after you learn. Have fun with it!

      doesn't make a difference, one way gear anyway. only the amount of cranking time is what matters

      these honda starters use a chain drive to an overunning clutch, like a freewheel on a bicycle, so you really won't damage the starter but it will drain the battery pretty quickly..

    I Got the CM version although mechanical identical. I love it but this one definately sounds as if 1 cylinder is at war with the other. Sounds like a carb issue to me

    I just restored a 1981 CM400A
    The CB and the CM look exactly the same except the wheels on the CM are black.

      I have a CM400A as well, same year! Do you like yours as much as I love mine, bitchy carb or no?

    I own several old muscle bikes form 70's and 80's and I like to add the minimum amount of Seafoam and also Fuel additive Stabil for storage to keep gas fresh but I found it also works well in a bike for a cleanser .. just put the minimal amount in for this .. Happy riding.. your bike sounds great when you accelerate a little.. I think some synchronizing of the 2 carbs will raise the idle because right now it is only hitting on one cylinder at idle..

    I have a bunch of these CB 360 to 750 and hondamatic in the basement I was told they all run dad loved them I have one just like this he said ran like brand new fireball orange I'm throwing a battery in it new plugs fresh gas oil change see what happens it has new carbs but sat a while.

    I think ur side-stand is down bro. when u put a Hondamatic in gear if the side stand is down it immediately kills the engine. Safety feature. SS can only be down if engine is off or in neutral.

      Mister M the bike needs tuning by a pro and it would run good!

      Mine starts first click.
      Cm4oot. I got skooters that cost triple. And a Kawasaki 1000.
      Here lately, I always pick the Honda 400. So much fun to ride, mainly the throttle u get to really use.
      Big bikes, one eight turn, it's at 80..
      I like just riding anyway, speed is death trap for decisions on a bike.
      I usely ride 45mph max.
      Just riding.

    Why does it have a clutch

    • @wiilegend
      @wiilegend  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      While it appears to have a clutch, that's actually a parking break, which I've found to be a hassle when you are used to using a clutch.

    No speedometer?

    • @wiilegend
      @wiilegend  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It has one, it's just smaller than the stock so it's difficult to see.

      Ah, I see. Thanks for the reply--been wishing I could snag one of these for a while now.
