Councilmember Charles Allen on Supporting the LGBTQ Community in DC

During SMYAL's Summer Major Donor Virtual Dinner we welcomed DC Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen, head of the Committee on the Judiciary and Public Safety. Councilmember Allen has been a key partner in SMYAL's efforts to secure additional funding for LGBTQ-specific programs in the DC budget. With Councilmember Allen's help, SMYAL and the DC LGBTQ Coalition successfully advocated for $2.7 million in the FY21 budget for programs including housing vouchers, extended transitional housing, a TGNC employment program, and more.
