    I really thought they were going to RMC cheetah after they announced its closure in part because every other herschend park already has one. It would have given them that one signature ride, but I guess we’ll see what they add in its place.

      @mackenziefritz8169 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They technically already replaced Cheetah, or at least the plot of land it sits on. It's now an animal viewing area, which basically kept the queue, exit, and station/brake run of the ride and turned it into a viewing platform. They actually have one of Cheetah's trains sitting in it so that's kind of cool

    Went here 20+ years ago. Really liked cheetah. Just a very solid woodie. Was perfect for the park, not great but because other rides are meh, you really have fun and appreciate it. Even the boomerang was decent because of the park. No high expectations, just wholesome southern charm. This is a place where you learn to make the most of things.

    As my home park, I’m glad this park has such a good atmosphere. It may lack in ride quality, but it has such a good vibe and nice scenery so I can’t actually hate it. It’s a nice little park :)
    Nice review btw!

    HFE transformed this park from being bland and treeless to being charming and full of trees. They really improved the overall vibe of the park, but it’s sad they removed their only unique coaster and went down from 4 thrill coasters to just 2. It’s clear the audience mostly cares about the water park, animals, and kids rides, but there’s a huge gap not having a standout or even just a newer thrill coaster. Removing Cheetah was a huge step backwards in that regard. I hope they can find a way to fill that gap because otherwise they’ve made this a great park.

    This video is spot on lol. We live 30 minutes away and it’s perfect just to go ride a couple rides and see a pretty good concert and firework show every now and then. During the spring & summer is your best bet so you can ride all the rides and then go to the water park after and cool off

    My grandpa lives in Georgia and this was one of the first parks I ever went to. I remember seeing twisted Typhoon for the first time and I thought it was crazy. Keep in mind. There were a lot of trees around the entrance so I couldn’t quite tell what it was But it didn’t matter because I wasn’t tall enough to go on it, though even though I probably would’ve been traumatized because I didn’t know what the right even was. I hope to get back here Someday because I live in Ohio

    Love this place. It's 3/4 size of a Six Flags. They shouldn't have removed Cheetah, it was one of their best. They probably are trying to recoup the losses from the pandemic, so I think it'll be a while before they add coasters etc. It's in the middle of nowhere, on a one-lane road with tall trees on both sides. When you're near it, you think it can't possibly be here, then all of a sudden you see roller coasters lol

    Wild Adventures has actually seen a fair amount of investment these past few years. The whole boardwalk along the lake and the pretzel restaurant actually just opened this year, along with the viewing deck in Cheetah's spot. Last year they added the petting zoo, and next year they're adding an area called Oasis Outpost. The Discovery Outpost land in the front of the park also opened in 2019 and has a great presentation...
    Unfortunately while they're overall investments are solid, when it comes to building attractions they get... lazy. Like pretty much any of their "new" rides are essentially rides they removed for a few years, refurbished, and brought back under a new name. Don't believe me? Swampwater Snake, the park's newest coaster in 2019, operated at the park from 2003-2011 under the name "Fiesta Express." All the other rides in the Discovery Outpost area were also taken from around the park and spruced up. In addition, the new ride next year is the old Safari Jeep ride that they removed a few years back. And then Cheetah, the park's former signature ride, got replaced with an animal viewing platform this year. And said platform is literally Cheetah's station and brake run with some new wood on the floor and some picnic tables. They literally kept the ride's old queue and exit as pathways to the viewing area XD

I hadnt been in years and went back in 2022 and we became season pass holders. It really is a great park for children in my opinion . Also LOVED the Christmas events they have going on.

    Fun story. Me and a friend went to Wild Adventures in October of 2006. It was on a random weekday and we were the only guest at the park. No! I really mean the ONLY guest at the park for atleast the first 6 hours. Noone showed up until later in the day when the halloween events were starting to open up. We pulled up after driving 6 hours and thought the park was closed. Nope! We kept getting on Cheetah and boomerang. It was a blast!

    There was actually so much more to the park back in the early 2000s they had the ShenaniGuns show, each area had a different theme... at the start of the park there was Bug Land, the back of the park was a Wild West Theme which is where they had the ShenaniGuns show the other side of the park was sort of an Australian Outback theme.... it was really fun... after around 08 the park just got a little blah... but I do still go every now and then especially on a hot South Georgia day I'll go to Splash Island and cool off a bit.

    So I use to run the cheetah at wild adventures and yes there has been rumors about a all steel version of the cheetah and surprisingly the cheetah was one of the most favorite rides in the park and also everyone is upset about terror in the wilds closure that brought in a lot of money near Halloween each year.

    Lived in Georgia since 93. The cheetah ruled! Anytime I rode it I would have nightmares that I fell out coming down that first hill that night in the hotel room. Like it was a given. But I still loved it. They had a deal I think they still do where if you buy one days ticket your next days ticket is free.

    What is this "building up to get on bigger coasters" experience because i never thougth of that, the first like "big/good" coaste was jetline in grona lund sweden (hey i live there) its about 30 meters tall, its an Schwarzkopf coaster, then one week later i went to kolmarden (also in sweden, who could've guess'd) there i rode wildfire a top on the track rmc (where the tracks are woodwith metal plate on idk) that was 50 meters high, then now im not scared of any coasters directly, proably a strato coaster if ei'll ever go on one

  • @jonny-b4954
    @jonny-b4954 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Been thinking of coming here for years when going to SFOG but they just haven't put anything new in to draw me in yet. In fact, just keep closing rides. I'm hoping for a Gerstlauer family coaster or an RMC family coaster. Heck, anything new. 0:32 You've never done Busch Gardens animal feedings? You can feed a giraffe there. It's like $50-75 and you and 15 other people stand in back of a truck and go out into the Serengeti and feed the animals by hand off the truck. It was pretty amazing. Check it out next time, it's over by the elephants and the train station on Cheetah Hunt end of the park. It's a walk up ticket booth thing that says "Tours" or something with a nice pavilion to sit to the side and wait for your time.

    Wild Adventures is charming but the park's coaster collections are basically clones, it makes this park feels like a Six Flags park, I hope Herschend will invest in the new thrilling coaster with original layout and airtime.

    It's not a bad park at all. This is just another one of those that deserves more attention by its owner and I honestly don't understand why. As it is I'd say it's worth visiting once but perhaps refurbish the current rides and add some more before a return.

    I rode Cheetah back in 2019 on our one and only visit. It felt very similar to me to Hurricane at Pavilion in Myrtle Beach before that closed. It tracked pretty similar to the Boss with those G-trains (not great) but in fairness, it was pretty intense. I found the one-train operation on all the coasters a tad frustrating (definitely a HFE thing...) but to your point that's not really the main draw for the park.

    Water park was pretty fun too! Grew up going there. Cheetah was pretty cool when I rode it as a kid. Crazy that boomerangs and SLC’s were hated when I thought they were super cool. Haven’t been to a park that has either yet besides WA.

    I've been to this park twice, my first time during Labor Day weekend last year and Memorial Day weekend this year. I wanted to just get some credits near my home and this park seemed like a neat place to visit, and I was very pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere of the park is really nice and has great charm. It feels very laid back, and despite going on more crowded days, the lines were very manageable. The Wild Mouse is the only ride that gets a pretty decent wait of 20-30 minutes, although that ride is quite garbage IMO. The Vekoma Boomerang is surprisingly very smooth, but the SLC still sucks despite some people saying it's really good. The rapids ride is also fun and unique!
    I hope the park can improve on their ride lineup in the future, because it doesn't feel like Herschend added a single ride here since they bought the property in 2006. Also hoping they can improve on the animal exhibits, I'm not one who's bothered by the animal exhibits of Disney or Busch Gardens parks but some of the ones here felt way too cramped

  • @drdewott9154
    @drdewott9154 ปีที่แล้ว

    It looks solid but man it really needs a ride that's like the big umph, something that's like a signature for the place. It could be a lot of things, it could be a smaller launch coaster like something from Mack, maybe a solid straddle coaster like a Juvelen clone, or perhaps something akin to a Megalite, or even a spinning coaster. Idk I just hope they can get a new notable coaster in the next few years, even if its just like a family thrill ride.

    I feel like even though it's a family park, it could be better if they add more thrill rides and major roller coasters. It can still have family areas bit it has the potential to have something for everyone. Just like Dollywood how it has absolutely fantastic kids and family areas as well as things for thrillseekers.

    I have a lot of happy memories of the park and everything that he says and here is true but probably the best we can do go on is bsa weekend It will be a little bit more crowded but to let you pet different animals (Baby alligators and train snakes) and if you’re lucky you will be allowed to fish in the pond From what I remember But last time I went there was like three years ago

    Wonder what would've happened if this park was located off I-10 just outside Jacksonville. Remember this place in the 2000s having lots of small coaster & mid sized coasters though none of them were all that good sadly. A Cheetah RMC would've been interesting. A Gerstlauer type coaster would fit well considering many other small parks in the south have one like OWA for example

  • @allcapsROB
    @allcapsROB ปีที่แล้ว

    Where they’ve really slid is the entertainment. In the early 2000s they had a great Wild West show. It was a punny, silly family show loaded with Mel Gibson style characters, gag practical effects and full to scale set (three or four buildings and “dusty trail” terrain). I’m not sure when they did away with it but now it’s a lumberjack show that lasts for I think 10 minutes on a basic stage. They had other shows too that went away with time. Plus a mini golf and go kart track that went away after COVID. Its still fun, but not as cared for as it used to be.

    I've been told that most amusement park executives look at the population within 2 hours of the park as their primary audience. I personally think that's a mistake and that the number should be 4 hours but even it I drew a circle at 4 hours around Wild Adventures you can see the immediate problem they have. The park is LITERALLY in the middle of NOWHERE. Jacksonville Florida is the closest metro area with well over a million people and those people are more likely to head south to Orlando for obvious reasons. Atlanta is next closest and EVEN IF there were no Six Flags over Georgia they are about equal distance to Carowinds or Dollywood as they are to Wild Adventures. South Alabama, North Florida and Florida Panhandle residents and South Georgia residents are the people that are most likely to come here and if they can afford to go somewhere else for a destination vacation they probably will. I lived in Atlanta for 20 years and I was never remotely interested in going here even when I passed by the park on my way to and from Florida, not because I heard that it was terrible or something but because I looked at the ride list and said yeah there's nothing here I have to ride....
