  • Voted one of the best theme parks in the world, Dollywood is a blend of world class thrill rides, amazing food, family fun, and of course...a little bit of southern hospitality. The park is nestled in the Smoky Mountains (just shy of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park), and has seen rapid growth the past decade, quickly becoming a must-visit world class destination.

The best way to describe Dollywood is a combination of charming and endearing. I can't imagine anyone going there and not loving the place - it's still a theme park, but, at the same time, it still possesses a sort of small town charm even with all the coasters and other stuff, and it also has a certain "homely" feeling that I don't think any other park has come even close to replicating. I've only been there once, and that was before I became a coaster enthusiast, but even then I wanted to return. It's such a good park.

We are Disney/Universal diehards and just did our first visit to Dollywood during the pandemic in October (cancelled Disney and went to Tenneessee for the outdoors). We were really, really impressed. We rocked it open to close and look forward to coming back for a longer stay. I also utilized their disability program and they took such great care of me. A+++. It's so weird to say that I've grown up with it...when I first went, the only rollercoasters were Thunderhead and Tennessee Tornado, plus Blazing Fury and the VeggieTales coaster if you want to count those without much in the way of expansion
Then they added Mystery Mine and every few years or so it's just major expansion/addition one after the other. The only really questionable one I feel is the removal of Dreamland Forest for Barnstormer. I always felt like that beehive house drew more people than the Barnstormer, even when it was first introduced...

I love this park and really love the area! Don’t go here to just visit Dollywood but make time to spend in Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg, the Great Smokey Mountains National Park and Cherokee NC! All of these are just next to each other starting with Pigeon Forge which a a great hub of shopping, food and entertainment!
Up next is the beautiful Gatlinburg, a smaller town than Pigeon Forge but completely walkable! Here you’ll find LOTS of unique things to do and see! There’s also a great arts and crafts village here.
Up next is the Great Smoke Mountains National Park which is simply magical and HUGE! It’s also completely free to visit. Drive through here and you’ll enter North Carolina and just on the other side of the park is Cherokee NC.
Cherokee like it’s name is home to the Western Band of Cherokee Indians which is a federally recognized tribe (which I am btw and a member also), here you can visit things like the museum that teachers the history of the Cherokee, meet and speak with Cherokee people, visit the living museum which has many artists, craftsmen, and see how we as a people once lived. You can also purchase authentic handmade works of art that are made right here in Cherokee that will directly benefit the tribe and community. And if gambling is your thing theirs a very nice and BIG casino here for you to enjoy.
I’d highly recommend for ANYONE to visit this area. To me it’s the most beautiful place on earth and with so much to do you could very easily spend weeks here and still had not seen everything!

Back then the only roller coaster was The Thunder Express until 1998 when it was removed and replaced by The Tennessee Tornado. I haven't been there in several years, but would like to go back at some point when I have a chance.

Jukebox Junction is themed to the 1950s, I've always thought they could do an area next to it themed to Hollywood and call it Dollywood Studios. It would be a great place for a dark ride themed to Dolly's acting career. Who wouldn't want a Dolly audio-animatronic?

The best part of this video is the narration telling you about the parks layout. Be prepared for walking uphill for a good bit of your time there. There are spaces to rest and of course plenty of refreshment vendors, but if you are elderly, perhaps less mobile than a few years ago, take extra time to move around the park.

I just took my family for our first visit to Dollywood and the surrounding region, partially inspired by this video. I loved all of the coasters, except Lightning Rod which was down the whole week we were there. The water coaster was also down, which means both headliners weren't open during our visit. That being said, we had a blast and love both days we spent in the parks. My son, a timid enthusiast with very specific sensory needs, discovered he loves Dragonflyer and wants to ride other coasters of that type. The cinnamon bread was also as amazing as you said. My addition to the park would be a sky chair ride from the front to the back of the park, perhaps weaving through Flying Eagle. Thanks for the awesome videos, and I hope you review Iowa's new park at some point.

Dollywood is my # 1 park that I have ever visited, and nothing else even comes close. The coaster collection may not be as good as places like Cedar Point or Magic Mountain, but it's everything else that they do that puts it over the top. I especially love it when parks put on great shows, and Dollywood is among the best.

Maybe next year will just take a big road trip and hit Lagoon , Holiday World , Dollywood , Silver Dollar City and then the Florida Parks...then hit all the rest on the way back...Places like Indiana Beach that I donated to and go check out my brick I bought lol

Dollywood’s next expansion/themed land should have a steam punk feel. Put a version of Time Traveler there and then recreate something like Rookburgh (from Phantasialand) and a version of F.L.Y.

i go to amusement parks cuz of the coasters, i could care less for the actual park itself, except for dollywood, the natural setting is just breathtaking, the theming feels just right and so charming, the atmosphere is just so laid back and friendly, the food tastes too good and the staff is exceptional, combine that with the stuff i normally love, one of the best coasters ever and a great supporting cast of coasters as well as non coaster rides, and u have one amazing park, everything ppl say about the park is true, it does more than live up to the hype.

On the topic of pathing at Dollywood, they need one that connects Craftman’s Valley to Wildwood Grove. They used to have Slidewinder which brought you up the hill that wild eagle sits on from the Craftman’s Valley side.
The only problem is that it would be a very steep uphill climb and downhill descent to get to Wildwood Grove. I’m sure it’s not even possible but a tunnel through that hill would be incredible.
One thing that’s guaranteed about a Dollywood visit is the minimum 5 miles you’re gonna walk 😅

Do they still have those huge skillets grilling corn still in the husk? I don't know why but that's one of the few vivid memories I have of Pigeon Forge.
