Just starting to refinish a 20+ year old pool - trying to decide on finishes - how has your finish held up over the years? - was that the Stonescape Mini Pebble Aqua White? Did you add Abalone to the finish? Does it still sparkle? Have heard so many different opinions on everything your feedback would be appreciated, thanking you in advance.
You’re pool looks awesome. I’m in the process of designing my pool. It’s going to be 15x28. Trying to decide on sun-shelf size. What size is your sun-shelf? It seems like a great size. Trying to decide between CLI aqua white and aqua pearl. Have you seen the difference in the two Colors in person?
Hello Donya. My sunshelf is 12ft x 8ft. It starts 3 feet into the pool deck and pushes out 5ft into the pool. My pool is also 15ft wide and it seems like a perfect distance. Many people bring the sun shelf further into the pool deck to take up less space in the pool but this design allowed me to place steps on each side of the shelf and my kids love playing in them. I have not seen Aqua Pearl in person but I found it online through CL Industries. Looks like it would produce a nice water color. Has a bit more brown and more white than Aqua White. Despite the name aqua white has mostly blue as the base color. Hope this helps.
My pool has a similar shape as yours and I'm going to go with Aqua White as well. I'm debating if I should put in step tiles. I like the clean look of no tiles but also wonder if tiles increase safety. I see you have no tiles on your steps. Do you have any issues with mis-steps and do you regret not getting step tiles? Thanks very nice house BTW.
Thank you for the compliment. I considered putting tiles on the steps and benches but I am glad I did not. I put them on the edge of the sun shelf for aesthetic reasons. I have not had any mis-steps or issues. The steps are very visible as well as the benches on each side of the pool. Good luck on your build and hope we get to see it when finished!!
Jimmy, so cool.We are just about to select this in mini pebble or in Peurto Rico (addition of glass beads)...Our sample in regular mini pebble of the Aqua White has no abolone, but we are going to request it. Approx how many bags were added to yours as it looks very concentrated and we'd like to request the same amount. This is great, thanks for posting!
Hi Jimmy, We just had the Mini Pebble Aqua White installed based on how great it looked in your video. Resurface finished 2 days ago, acid wash yesterday, and fill complete late last night. Did you notice the water color change over the first month after resurfacing? Right now the water has more of a blue/green hue and was just wondering if you noticed the same thing initially. Did the water color take a while to settle in to its current and final color for you?
Hey David, I did not have any green tint at all. Someone else commented the same thing. I am wondering if your surroundings have influenced the green. My waterline tile and the wall on the hot tub are blue. I also added Abolone Shell into the mix to add some sparkle. I would ask your installer. I also brushed mine 2 times per day for the first 2 weeks and it brightened it up a bit.
Hey man, nice pool! Wish I had a big yard like that. Question, you didn’t go for any touch of glass right? Just the shiny shells? I’m debating between aqua blue and aqua white.
Thanks man! I did not add any glass. I like the shiny shells and they did a great job of causing a sparkle on the peaks of waves. I personally feel the shells mix better as well. I am not sure if that is true, it is just a gut instinct
@@JimmyEpolito Thank you. Did you want a different color but ended up with this? I am debating between Aqua Blue and this. But I hear that the Blue has some green to it. I am in AZ, so too bright *Aqua white) is not great either.
@@blaneahm9891 you're welcome. I was aiming for this exact color. I wanted a color that was refreshing. The colors around the pool will also influence the water color.
@@JimmyEpolito hello again man, quick question, did you see a lot of mini pebble in the pool after it was resurfaced and started up? Is that normal? I see lots of debris from the resurface job.
Thanks for the video Jimmy! We're also going with Stonescapes Aqua White w/abalone. You mentioned that you scrubbed it for 2 weeks after the plaster was applied. I'm assuming this was after it was filled? Did you use any special brush? Did you scrub everywhere (walls and bottom)? Beautiful pool!
It's clear as day that AQUA WHITE is the choice if you dont want any grey/green/turquoise hues. This is just straight sky blue which many look for and this is the choice. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the video. My husband and chose this same finish, it’s in the curing stage and still looking green. How long did it take to get this beautiful blue color??
Thank you! Here is the installer contact info: AC Coleman 407-473-0978. Looks great at night. facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10159398654345507&set=pb.609825506.-2207520000.1562930455.&type=3&theater
First of all - grest video - very helpful - we are getting Aqua white as well for all the same reasons. I was wondering if you can share the cost if the abalone shells? I soooooo want them! Thanks again!!!
Thanks Jimmy. It ended up costing $500. I asked for 3 bags but not sure what we're getting. Shot Crete this week so I'll share outcome. Thanks again for the video. It really helped us decide.
Question, looking at your sun exposure, it appears you get alot of direct sun all day. My pool gets sun from 10AM to end of day, all across the south from east to west. I have had a summer or two that it got pretty warm in the pool in the Texas heat. I am debating between Aqua White and Aqua Cool. Do you experience more heat absorption from the aqua blue? I would never do a grey or black plaster, since it would just boil during the summer. I get ALOT of sun.
Hello! We really love this pool! What else did u add beside the Aqua white mini pebble and abalone. Did u add any glass beads abs if u did what color ?
Thank you! I did not add any glass beads. I feel the shells were enough. The surroundings have a lot to do to influence the water surface color as well so keep that in mind! Good luck!
Great looking pool! I am in the process if designing one, I like the look of the pavers however I heard they hold a lot of heat. Do your pavers get hot and would recommend them as deck material? thanks.
Sorry I missed your question. The pavers in fact do hold heat but here in Florida everything holds heat in the summer. I have a lot of neighbors who put travertine down and I have seen kids feet slipping right out from under them while their heads hit the surface. I went for safety and function since I have 4 little ones.
Thanks so much for posting this. It's so hard to find photos of the colors they offer. We are also going with stonescapes, since our pool installer only uses them. I have had the hardest time picking a color. I want a true blue (No green or grey) with a medium tone. Do you think this fits the bill? Sometimes it's hard with video to truly see the true color. I keep going between Aqua white and Aqua Blue. What made you choose Aqua white over Aqua blue? You're pool looks amazing and I'm sure you have been enjoying it!!
Hi Angela! It truly is very difficult to find good images to help with the decision. I was torn between Aqua White and Aqua Blue but it boiled down to the fact that Aqua Blue is very similar but contained a lot more brown and black pebbles which I did not want. I was shooting the exact same look you just mentioned and got it. I wanted the water to look refreshing and inviting. When I am outside and the sun is overhead it is hard not to jump in! Keep in mind that your surroundings also play a huge part in the color of your water. The waterline tile, the pool deck, the landscaping, the positioning of the sun, etc. The abalone shell was also a big win. They really cause the water to sparkle on the surface. Let me know if I can help you further!
@@JimmyEpolito Thanks so much for the fast reply! Do you happen to have any pictures of it shaded? We have a similar backyard and sun position for our backyard. The only difference is our deep end is 9 feet, so I'm sure it will be much darker in that area. You're an angel for posting this. I swear it's been the worst experience to try and find pools with the color and NPT is no help in picking the color. I'll have to see if my husband wants to swing the extra cost for the abalone shell, it's beautiful for sure.
@@JimmyEpolito We ended up going with Aqua white with costa rica blend glass beads and abalone shells. They are doing it right now as we speak. I can't wait to fill it up and see what it looks like. Thanks again for posting this and all your help. You are the only one that responded from all the videos I asked questions on.
@@angelarebollar3948 I am glad to help. I was frustrated when I was trying to find help deciding on the color so I figured I could help others avoid that by posting this video. I wish I had added some glass beads in mine but I was already way outside my initial budget!! LOL. Enjoy and let me know how it turns out
I'm wondering if you are still satisfied with the feel of the mini stonescapes? I need to have my pool refinished, and I love the look of the stonescapes, but am worried about the roughness.
Hi I am doing the aqua white . Debating on adding the abalone shells. Is it just the tanning ledges you see it ? Or do you this sparkle in the whole pool?
I was stuck between those two as well!! I think you cannot go wrong either way. It is holding up very well and it will be 3 years in Oct. I recommend adding the abalone shell to. It creates an excellent looking sparkle on the surface!
Hi, I’m thinking about going with the same color, is there any difference in feel if you choose to go with larger pebble instead of mini? Or was it almost the same as the big pebble? Thank you and blessings!
Hello, I find there to be a big difference. The mini pebble is very smooth while the standard pebble is rough, kind of like sand paper. I seen zero reason to get the regular pebble over mini.
I'm going irradecent peacock colour tiles with 100%glass beads in mostly gold with highlights of sky blue and light green...so it will look like a natural lagoon with a sandy bottom but greenish blueish water...with jungle plants and sandstone deck.
Any issues with the staining from the shells? I've in a forum about people having lots of issues with stains. I love the color and wanted the shells but now, I'm a bit concerned. Thanks
No staining from the shells whatsoever. I think if people have staining they are not properly balancing the water in the beginning and brushing enough.
Hey I love your pool just want to make sure that this is the Stone scape mini pebble rock all white with the abalone stone getting ready to order the pool plaster hopefully in the next day or two so wanted to make sure I’m copping your pool it’s amazing thank you for uploading this I want the best you tubers
Thank you so much for the compliment! It is stone scapes mini pebble aqua white. I did use abalone shell which creates a nice sparkling effect! Congrats on your pool build!
The absolute smoothest feel thats has the perfect amount of grip is glasstile and glass beads...(jewlscape) it makes your pool last 50 years too but has a big price tag....you get what you pay for.
I picked this one after this video and it doesn’t look like this. Mine looks really blue and has lots of streaks and blotches everywhere. Did you acid wash it multiple times ? I’m so stressed
@@JimmyEpolito they just finished pebble yesterday. It is currently filling up but I will try brushing it 3-4 times a day, I bought the nylon one but I’ll look for the hybrid brush. I hope it will pull out the Smurf blue color lol
@@candiceelliott3335 it looks nice. His looks nicer than mine but I think that comes down to install. Only thing is it feels pretty rough on feet for mini pebble. Def. Has Caribbean look though
Hi Jimmy, im also looking to go with this color but i have a question did you add any glass in it? Did the shells that you added make a difference in the end color?
Sorry I thought I replied to this one! My Bad. I did not add glass but the shells did certainly ad a sparkle to the water. Not a difference in color much.
Does the pool finish look sandy colored at the tanning ledge? or is the finish more of a grey color when looking down into the water at the tanning ledge? I want to have a more subtle color transition from stairs to shallow to deep.
can you advise how much that cost? I am also looking at Aquawhite Stonescapes. 14X30 pool. Plese advise size of pool. I see video posted 6 years ago so it's probably doubled.
How is the abalone holding up in your pool? I have read the abalone leaves brown stains on the surface of the pool and around the abalone pieces themselves. We are on the fence about adding abalone to our aqua white minipebble finish. Thank you.
Are you able to post pictures please? We are torn between Aqua White and Aqua Blue. We have about 2 weeks (maybe less) to make a decision. Are you able to see the pebble as Aqua White is so light, but then again I have a small sample. Thanks
Rachel Lanoza we just had our aqua white installed 2 weeks ago and have no regrets! Water color is similar to a vacation resort color like in this video.
hi Jimmy, how many glass bags did you choose for your finish? we are building our pool and we are thinking if there is a difference between 1 bag and 3 bags. our selection is Aqua white puerto rico blend mini pebbles with 1 bag, but I'm not sure if 1 bag will make a lot of difference. how many bags of glass does your pool finish has? thank you.

Hello David, I do not know the brand. I purchased the coping through NPT Pools and the pavers were purchased by the contractor. The pavers are just concrete pavers and the color is called Harvest Blend
Don’t be fooled by the “mini pebble isn’t as rough as the regular”. It absolutely is equally as rough. All pebble finishes are like that and ours, the same shade and finish as this one, feels like walking on asphalt. We fell for the “it’s smoother” pitch too. Man, do I wish we had that one to do over.
Sounds to me like you had an install problem. My pool surface is much smoother than my neighbors who have regular Pebble. I am just a homeowner not a pool surface sales person BTW. You own statement makes zero sense. It is like saying the 2000 grit sandpaper is not smoother than 200 grit.
Hi there! Beautiful pool! What tile did you use on your tanning ledge/baja step edge? I like how it blends in, but shimmers in the sunlight. Thanks in advance!
Sorry I took so long to reply. Stonescapes has a surface actually called Carribean Blue. They have others as well. I imagine that as long as there are hints of green and blue is dominant, that it will look great. 1960jaybo my pool was finished at the end of October 2017 so it hasn't been exposed to the high summer temperatures as of yet. I don't imagine it will get excessively hot. The video makes it look more gray than it is it is actually a medium blue.

Thank you so much for the video! I am getting a pool build and I just learned so much from your video!
I am glad you benefitted from watching it!
Was the plaster a darker blue initially? I just had mine done in Aqua White and it looks a lot darker than yours. I can send you a pic.
It was darker blue. I brushed mine 3 times per day for a full week.
I wish I could tell you. I am not sure how many bags they put in. Maybe 2
How did your pool turnout Cassidy?
Hi Jimmy,
We just had the Mini Pebble Aqua White installed based on how great it looked in your video.
Yes you have to
It's clear as day that AQUA WHITE is the choice if you dont want any grey/green/turquoise hues. This is just straight sky blue which many look for and this is the choice. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the video. My husband and chose this same finish, it’s in the curing stage and still looking green. How long did it take to get this beautiful blue color??
You're welcome. Mine never had a green tint. Do you have anything surrounding the pool that could cause that? What color is the waterline tile?

First of all - grest video - very helpful - we are getting Aqua white as well for all the same reasons. I was wondering if you can share the cost if the abalone shells? I soooooo want them! Thanks again!!!
Hello Wendy! I just ask the subcontractor who applied the stonescapes to throw in a few bags. I believe most pool companies charge $400-500 per bag.
Thanks Jimmy. It ended up costing $500. I asked for 3 bags but not sure what we're getting. Shot Crete this week so I'll share outcome.
Thanks again for the video. It really helped us decide.
@@wendyramos8083 That's great! I look forward to seeing the final product! Glad that the video helped you!
@@JimmyEpolito I completely agreed with you. I'd rather see my kids feet deal the heat in pavers instead a trip to the hospital.
Jimmy, did your Stonescapes aqua white have black specs/pebbles in your mini pebble mixture?
Yes it did.
I'm going irradecent peacock colour tiles with 100%glass beads in mostly gold with highlights of sky blue and light green...so it will look like a natural lagoon with a sandy bottom but greenish blueish water...with jungle plants and sandstone deck.
I bet it will look great! Let us know how it turns out!
