    Great breakdown of illustrative markmaking, I'd been wondering why my attempts at more abstracted styles had been falling flat and this made me realize i wasn't appreciating the lighting enough. Thanks so much man!

    Awesome video! Love how you broke everything down in this video, specially regarding line weights and the shapes they make. I still struggle a bit with lineart. The countours + blending was also very interesting.

  • @YoshiMario69
    @YoshiMario69 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    That was fucking deep, man. I loved it there, where you used those shapes in a super simple way and DID NOT allow them to dictate your line work and your shape building THIS IS EXACTLY what I wanted to get a better feeling for, i wanted to know how to briefly place perspective so that I can focus on the fun part! the sweet style and details!!!

    you are so talented, your drawing looks so simple yet accurate, it's like all the form and perspective is already in your head and you just need to jot them down on the canvas !!!

    This is so helpful. Taken drawing 101 and am about to finish a drawing an animation course and this concept has not stuck, but you explain it in a way that is a lot easier to understand and the demos really help. Thank you, so, so much.

    Thanks for sharing James. I've been digital painting for a few years and the blur/smudge tool isn't one I use often, esp. with my favourite CSP brushes, but you definitely make a case for the quick half-render w wrapping lines look. Will definitely have to incorporate this on my next sketch! Always love your videos, and just joined your discord! Excited to connect and learn more! Keep up the awesome work my friend!

    Great video and explanations. Tonal contrasts also help to understand volume so I will recommend using less contrast in forms that are far from viewer and increase contrast on parts that are closer(Like on different forms of the nose, they are not equal in contrast). Now they look too similiar.

    Thank you for the details! Heard all the 101 stuff over and over but hearing the basics over and over isn't helping me master them, and practicing with barely noticeable progress isn't very exciting. Details like this give me more concrete things to experiment with!
