  • The best kids book and record ever.
I took my old GI Joe book and record and scanned in all the pictures. The I made the mouth for each picture by drawing them in on paint shop pro. Then I laid each frame into the movie maker program and mixed it with the audio from the record. So I basically animated this but just the mouths mostly.

Man, what a great find! I'm 47 and I had this back in the late 70's. I have been looking for this for so long. The kids nowadays will never have the imagination us kids had back in the day. This used to take me so far away. Wish I was still sitting on the floor with book in hand and just listening to the story being played on my small record player. What good times! Thank you!

WOW! That was so cool! I even called my 78 yr. old mom in to watch it, and even she was impressed. I'm a huge Adventure Team fan. I have all of these records, loads of figures, vehicles, uniforms and gear. (and I'm a woman!) I really hope you decide to do more, and maybe put them on video or DVD. I'd definitely buy one!

Positively genius! I did not see this book or hear this audio as a child but it still had the power to transport me back to my childhood and some of the made up adventures my brother and I acted out in our home back in the '70s. Excellent work, Jim. It is obvious from the finished product that you invested some time and effort into putting this out there. Fantastic idea and equally fantastic execution.

...A Peter Pan Book and Record!
This takes me back to playing GI Joe with my brothers on the blue/white shag carpet in our Bedroom(with the Spirit of 1976 wallpaper)
There was another one of these records where
Joe's friend scares a bunch of african natives
who were coming after Joe, by playing his groovy records real loud.
I forget what the name of that one was.
Anyway, thanks for posting. It's nice

Thanks for the nice compliment. I think this and anything can all be reintroduced if people were willing to do it. To a young person everything is new and people forget that. If it's old to someone else they have to remember there are always people out there who haven't seen it yet. It's proven today in a way more then ever with the movie biz and remakes.

Hey, this was a really cool blast from the past. I think it's been at least 32 years since I listened to this. It's possible that I may have first listened to this all the way back in 1976. I know. A long time ago. I used to play with those toys before I started getting into the A Real American Hero toy line which started in 1982. I stopped playing with them in 1986 though. I thought that the G.I. Joe movie should've simply been called "G.I. Joe", and been about G.I. Joe i.e. Joseph B. Colton.

Cool. Yeah I remember I had Eagle Eye Joe. You could move his eyes with a switch on the back of his head. He was a newer cheaply or not so durably made GI Joe. I remember playing with him in the pool. When I threw him out of the pool the chlorine or cool water must have made his elastic type insides, which held his body together, brittle because when he hit the ground he exploded into five separate body parts.

I had a dozen original G. I. Joe 45 RPM Records. They were in pristine condition, no scratches. The books were like new. The records were safety held in the books inner sleeve. I kept them in an old military trunk.
My 1st wife sold them while was touring with my band across the U. S. in the mid-80's. Those 45s records are probably worth a couple dollars, now.

Thanks. It's very simplistic animation, but it works and doesn't take away from the purity or the book and record. I can easily see the Halloween connection as all these types of characters are linked or were linked to Halloween at the time. Like Dracula, Frankenstein and the Werewolf. I think I will have to at least do another video sometime soon since there seems to be more interest for it then I thought there wold be.
