@@mrsimpleslowmo thats just a choice matt chose with his placement. In terms of vocal technique matt in his prime is one of the best in metal ever to do it, period. I mean he was able to belt up to E5 in 2003 already is already at the top/above most tenor's belting range, and hes a baritone. Matt's entire range is well supported and resonant throughout, even down to notes as low as D#2. solid, healthy natural vibrato rather than laryngeal, which comes from relaxing his larynx and breathing properly, obviously fry screams he is fantastic at and showed that on WtF and CoE, he can use alot of nasality in his singing if he likes (WtF, CoE) which you say you are not a fan of, but he also drops it on other albums when he doesn't feel like it in certain parts of songs. You saying he has a below average voice is your subjective opinion of his tone and his choice of placement. Tone is a natural thing and subjective, and bringing that nasality in does not hinder his technique at all, it just changes the sound. You're objectively wrong in calling him a bad vocalist.
M Shadows' working out... finally, a video I've been waiting forever. he's the reason why i started working out back in 2011 and now the gym has been part of my life ever since. i just saw A7X live for the first time a couple of months ago in Jakarta and you guys mentioned it a lot in this video. this is like the perfect video, thank you.
I was at the Buffalo show where they first brought back Save Me and debuted Cosmic. I shit myself when Save Me started, one of my top 5 favorite Avenged songs
@@jakeseitz Awesome! I saw them live in Australia in 2011, and they did an encore with Save Me - one of the best live moments I've ever experienced. Really hope they come again soon.
@@jakeseitzYou talking about when they were at Key Bank Arena in Buffalo? I was there too with some buddies of mine we all lost our minds when Save Me started up. That was the second ever live showing of Save Me since 2011 like what a crazy coincidence.
One of the reason I love Avenged Sevenfold apart from their good songs is because of him. I remember when I was only about 9 years old, I got to know A7X from my older brother and at that time he often played every songs so I was interested and listened to some of them. Until I knew this band starting from its personnel, so that was the first time I saw Matt's face clear and I started to like him, yap that's the fact he was my first crush until now I still admire him and hope to get a partner like Matt of course starting from physical and character.
Aside from the obvious hotness factor, this is one of the best interviews of M Shadows I've ever seen. Kind of in the style of "Hot Ones" in that he's got a lot to do while answering questions - and the questions are great! Plus - again - the hotness factor. I ran across this at 2 a.m. and was glad my insomnia was kicking up. Thank you both!
Love seeing Shadows working out. He's the reason i started joining the gym. Too bad he looks slightly smaller and skinnier in his arms after all these years. I ain't complaining tho, i guess that's what ageing do to you .
This was GREAT Brandan and Matt!! HUGE Avenged Sevenfold fan. And I also loved Portrait of a Goddess so I was always familiar with Bleeding Through. I didn't know much about Brandan as a person though until I seen him on Drinks With Johnny (The leader of Avenged Sevenfold Johnny Christs podcast). Great episode. And I recommend Johnnys pod for those that didn't know about it, now you know.
22:14 and 23:46 and these are one of the reasons I absolutely adore this band, and kind of one of the reason I instantly loved LIBAD, not only the crazy vibe that is, but also the entire concept. Rock in Rio was amazing, I was there, one of the best day in my life. Please Come to Brazil, again. Haha
I love their creative freedom, they play what they want because they want to play it, but I will say, I do hope they keep playing their old stuff live,
Hearing Matt talk about how he feels about playing the old songs and trying to move forward really gets under my skin sometimes. I'm not really a fan of their last 2 records, but not because they aren't good albums. They are good, but in a different way than what I'm used to and what I want to hear from them. I'm a guy that loves going back and revisiting the old places and sounds and sights and reliving moments of my life when I thought they were better. It takes me away from the reality I live in now. I'm also not a forward thinking person like Matt is. I get that he wants to push boundaries and explore new sounds and make new music and not be just another legacy band riding off 3 solid albums and top 10 singles (looking at you Godsmack). But hen I listen to Avenged, i think back on the days when I saw them all tatted up with the emo gear and the energy and the roaring vocals. Now they all just look like normal dudes on stage. There isn't really a big stage presence from them anymore, just lights and pyro and video screens behind them. They look bored on stage, and I know that Synyster always looks bored on stage, but now they all do. They really aren't the band that I used to listen to and it sucks, but that's a personal issue. I could try to get with the times and jam to their new stuff, but it wouldn't feel authentic to me. That's not the place I'm at right now. And that's why this gets under my skin, because I see that the era I'm still living in isn't where Matt is either and it feels like a friend is growing farther apart from you and the distance is vast.
The chain setup at that gym that they're using looks so comfy. I've gotta ghetto rig chains onto the bar at mine if I want to overload with them instead of bands, and this gym has a nice little thing setup on the bar ready to go.
With Brandon's comment at 24:26, felt like it might be fun to let him know that the lead single for my band's new album had the working title "Bleeding Through-ish"
Yeah right? Also in Brazil, here at Rock in Rio when he said that "the next song is called Gunslinger" all of us in the crowd went CRAZY. Here songs like Gunslinger, Dear God, ALPOH is very loved, so grateful to lived that day. In Jakarta, A7X basicaly made the perfect setlist, damn!
