I'm so happy with this interview, I am a big fan of Direk Cathy since I became passionate in filmmaking in 2018, since I became aware of her works in Star Cinema, Direk Cathy is my stan in Philippine directors. 🤩❤️💯 Apart from looking up on how she worked on her successful films, I was teary-eyed by her stories on how she overcame the struggle of being a single mother knowing that her husband died many years ago. I can see and appreciate how strong she can be through her answers in this interview. I am also raised by a single mother, so apart from my admiration in film directing skills of Direk Cathy. I can totally relate dun sa sinabi ni Direk na God will give you an aid or something to get by. I was only 22 yrs old when my Mom passed away and I have no savings, my Dad doesn't have permanent work pero never kami nawalan ng pagkain sa hapag kainan. Totoo yung God will always provide basta you do your part at magtiwala.

Same feels kailangan ko I give up career ko kasi sinabihan ako nang anak ko na he wants me to be beside him kasi growing up parati akong wala. Pag alis ko for work tulog siya,umuuwi ako tulog na siya. Prayed for God's sign, then nag positive ako for Covid. Sa quarantine ko na realize na mas importante ang personal life ko and anak ko over my career. Madali lang tayong ma palitan sa work pero ang mga oras nah nawala with our kids as they grew up hindi na ma babalik. Nag file ako nang immediate resignation after quarantine & emergency funds and si Lord ang naging sandigan ko to survive and I thank the Lord so much nah na plan niya buhay ko according to His will. Hindi siya madali maraming instances nah na test yung faith ko but I choose to stay faithful and trusted him so much na alam ko He will never leave me behind. Sharing to you my favorite verse... "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him,and he will make your paths straight"-Proverbs 3:5-6

I like how Direk Cathy said feeling nya hindi naman sya pinabayaan ng Diyos. I love how her faith has led her to say this. I am in my 30s and lost both parents and surely I can tell you right now that I feel na pinabayaan na kami ng Diyos. It's such a strong and harsh thing to say but that's how I feel at the moment and I know it will take time for me to come to terms with God's plan for me and my siblings. For now, it does not make sense that me and my siblings who are mostly in their 20s must continue life without both parents.

I can relate to Ms. Cathy,my husband died when our daughter was only 8mos.old. Life goes on and sometimes we dont have a choice but to be strong for our children. We will get by by our faith to God and love and support from our family and friends. Thank u Ms. Toni for this interview with Direk Cath,for sharing her story. Now i understand why she seems to have this strong personality. Kudos to all single parents like us.

Same feels kailangan ko I give up career ko kasi sinabihan ako nang anak ko na he wants me to be beside him kasi growing up parati akong wala. Pag alis ko for work tulog siya,umuuwi ako tulog na siya. Prayed for God's sign, then nag positive ako for Covid. Sa quarantine ko na realize na mas importante ang personal life ko and anak ko over my career. Madali lang tayong ma palitan sa work pero ang mga oras nah nawala with our kids as they grew up hindi na ma babalik. Nag file ako nang immediate resignation after quarantine & emergency funds and si Lord ang naging sandigan ko to survive and I thank the Lord so much nah na plan niya buhay ko according to His will. Hindi siya madali maraming instances nah na test yung faith ko but I choose to stay faithful and trusted him so much na alam ko He will never leave me behind. Sharing to you my favorite verse...

Honestly I don't know who is she, then after ko mapanood humanga ako, namangha ako , at nakinig and familiar ako talaga sa mga movies nya. And habang lumalalim ang usapan i realized how strong she is. Naghalo yung pagiging totoo, matapang at malakas ni Derek. And dun ko nakita na at napatunayan na sarili ko na hindi kailangan pinapakita mong umiiyak ka sa pagkakataong dapat makita ka nilang umiiyak, dito ko narealize na mas maging matatag ka sa bawat yugto ng buhay dapat mas nagiging malakas at matibay ka and now here she is! Isang fully built strong woman, na hinubog ng karanasan na nagbibigay ng inspiration sa lahat ng makakarinig, makakapanood sa kanya... And sana habang kaya nyo pa po makagawa pa po kayo ng hundred of movies na magpapasaya, magbibigay aliw, ngiti inspiration at paghanga... You are such a treasure pagdating sa pelikulang Pilipino, magbibigay dagdag inspiration sa mga bagong generation... While listening ako iyak ng iyak napaka husay nyo po magkwento. I am in my 30s and lost both parents and surely I can tell you right now that I feel na pinabayaan na kami ng Diyos. It's such a strong and harsh thing to say but that's how I feel at the moment and I know it will take time for me to come to terms with God's plan for me and my siblings. For now, it does not make sense that me and my siblings who are mostly in their 20s must continue life without both parents.

What an eye opening interview.. there’s a reason why she said nothing when asked what she felt about finding out she holds the record of the highest grossing film of all time HELLO LOVE GOOBYE.. the very title of the movie was a fitting image of what’s happening in her personal life.. she’s coming home to her family and saying HELLO.. and while she’s with them she gives them all the LOVE she has.. then GOODBYE because she needed to.. I’m so sorry for your loss.. she lost the informative years of her children and she lost her husband-best friend.. motherhood her definition of her success.. because it’s immeasurable.. the interview was very organic ..
